  • You know, many years ago i watched a movie called BIX, about a talented musician that has no musical studies at all and it was the problem he did got (well , not him i guess it was the problem of everybody else though), until one day the bleeding hearts and the artist supported him and encouraged him to study, that is something soo good, i thought it would happen all the time but the reality of life is nobody helps you, but by watching that movie makes you like dream with something like that

  • Can anyone tell me the names of the songs he is playing?

  • @Scandela

    1. Sensation

    2. Lazy Daddy

    3. Lazy Daddy

  • This is great. When I'm feeling down listening to Bix always makes me feel better. It's ironical that so many jazz musicians seem to have had unhappy lives and yet the music they produced is so feelgood. Thank you for posting.

  • Bix lebt in unseren Herzen weiter.

  • You know what I think it is so remarkable about this music is that it always sounds so happy. It's fun, still very fresh, sometimes cutsie, it yearns for another time and another place, but will always put a smile on your face.

  • @SirTrumpalot Yes, it was happy music - it was the Roaring Twenties, the economy was up, there were plenty of speakeasies, bathtub gin, flappers so everyone was happy - heck, they were drunk whenever they wanted to be!

  • im turning 4 years old and i like this music.

  • Great thanks much for posting i also love Bixes music

  • Great post.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • The tune is Sensation Rag.

  • This tune is very much well known, but I forgot its name, would somebody know it. The recording I think is from 1924, but could be before that, one or even two yrs. It is noticeable that it is still an acustic recording. Bix would record some songs in 1928 with a much better sound, by electrical recording.

  • Oh yes, this is music like only a German can make.

  • Phenomenal - thanks so much for posting. I love Bix too :)

  • beautiful, wonderful wow!!! best Jazzman in the World!!!! I love Bix´s Songs :-*

  • gracias andrewjazz61 por esto, muy amable, y que viva el jazz

  • very good and it swing!

  • Here in England, he received a real boost in the mid 1980's with the Leeds-Based TV series "The Biederbecke Affair" written by Alan Plater, and others which followed. The TV series featured the adventures of a fan, and Bix's music throughout. It's more a nostalgia-fest for scene spotting around Leeds where it was filmed and might seem oddball to non-northerners or non-Brit.

But its up there on Amazon "Beiderbecke Trilogy" DVD

  • i'm trying to download that show but can't do it.any suggestions?

  • I see what you mean - just tried but couldnt find on youtube. Go to Amazon + search "Beiderbecke Trilogy" the entire boxed set of all series only UK Sterling £18.

Great for a night in with beer..

  • hell yeah

  • with Real Player, you can download,

    hi

  • @fnslr308 "The Beiderbecke Affair" introduced me to Bix Beiderbecke when I went to university. Bix Beiderbecke and the best time of my life are firmly connected.

  • The Greatest!

  • amen.armstrong said bix was the best!

  • Great!!

  • bix is my great great uncle and i enjoy listening to his music

  • It is a pleasure to meet you. May his music live forever.

  • James, I am a great fan of Bix's and feel close to him ever since I have heard his music when I was a boy back in the 50s. I wish he could have beaten that cold.

  • How cool!

Bix was a true genius, and you should be very proud.

Got any great stories to tell?

  • Good to see that you are proud of your roots. You are indeed related to a great of jazz. Bix's music is wonderful. He had such a lovely tone and musicality to his playing.

  • @JamesBeiderbecke13 - Oye James, tienes que estar muy orgulloso de ser pariente del mejor cornetista del mundo y de todos los tiempos. El genial Bix!

  • @JamesBeiderbecke13 I have attended several of the memorial concerts in Sunnyside (last one about 3 hours ago). He was a great musician. A great pity he left far too soon.

  • @JamesBeiderbecke13 I've played the trumpet since the 4th grade and I'm now 72. Throughout school I played in all the bands plus two extra-curricular groups and, after graduating I played professionally for 2 years. Then I got tired of starving and went back into construction for a steady paycheck. Bix was the best of the jazz cornet/trumpet players of the Jazz Age, no doubt of that. It's a pity he didn't take care of himself - 28 is 'way too young to be dying.

  • @JamesBeiderbecke13 —An honor to me you, Sir; albeit virtually —Bix continues to mirror and inspire the core covenant of all musicians —"Make it Memorable" —Be Well & Be Excellent, my Friend...

  • @JamesBeiderbecke13: I`m from germany and I love this good old jazz and Bix was one of the greatest jazz musicans!

  • BIX RULES! I've loved this guy since I was 13 and learning to play the trumpet - almost 30 years ago

  • great stuff...despite, the necessary, recording quality...i would have LOVED to see this or anything else, LIVE...but, who wouldn't have?

  • i have this on Cd. great Music.
