  • thanks for uploading this!

  • there's more humans born in two days than all the great apes COMBINED??? we have to protect them, NOW!

  • @blazikenflashfire excuse my grammar, that's a rudimentary mistake :S there are *

  • Very enjoyable thank you

  • fascinating enjoyed it more than the history channel one but for some reason National Geographic always seems to put out the best documentaries

  • I'm not just a human, I'm one of the great apes :)

  • great documentary, thanks for sharing.

  • loved all 10 videos really interesting and informative! Cant wait til I move to South Africa to help with saving the Chimps :) wish me luck!

  • @gredan34- it is not our brain we need to gain full control of. It is our emotions and actions, only then will we excel to great hights and maybe even have to relabel ourselves due to knew found control, knowledge, and understanding. It's not Communism. It's common goal. This coming from an American freedom fighter. Lol

  • I've got a great new gene, want to procreate?

  • @MrSomePrick the human population is too large now for your one gene to sustain itself

  • 139 Christians watched this

  • We're not as successful as this documentary says. We've changed our environment so much that our survival as a species is endangered. And the documentary doesn't say that the fact that apes are disappearing is mainly our fault. We shouldn't put ourselves on top of the evolution tree, and we should stop thinking of "intelligence" in such an antropomorphic way. (I enjoyed the documentary though)

  • Instead of copycat, we should say: copyhuman! This doc made me realize that one of our greatest qualities is the ability to copy. We tend to copy the good or bad. One generation copies the knowledge from the previous and every good idea is copied and that's why we're successful. We copy knowledge, beliefs, morale, behaviors, technology etc. We can solve problems but we also have science! We can die for others so lets stop wars and sensless religions that promote it! We can all be friends :)

  • At 3.44 the clocks show only the numbers 9 and 11??

  • @ArcticStarbrook 8 and 11, actually.

  • @MrWaddefak no it was 9 and 11

  • @ArcticStarbrook

    it was the Apes !!!!!!!!!!

  • I got a question, Im not saying i dont believe in evolution however, If real spirts, ghosts and demons have been seen, recorded and accepted just as much as the evolution theory with more facts then the evolution theory how does everything come together? There have been more studies on demons and spirits then their has of evolution so in someway their is "something else", How does everything come together? No disrespect to anyone im just really curious that these things dont add up.

  • @Warismyfuture im pretty sure evolution doesnt have anything to do with spirits. for me, spirits or ghost sightings are like UFO sightings. there's way too many people claiming but are all claiming different stuff of the same thing.

i guess until scientific ariticles have been written, i'll stay neutral

  • @Warismyfuture 90% of anything in regards to spirits and demons is crap. I believe theres something out there but it is something humans don't have the ability to comprehend (yet atleast). Plus I doubt that it's true that you say there's more evidence supporting demons and spirits than evolution. Theres lots of reports of ghosts etc, but never undoubtable evidence... If there was that many 'facts', we would all be as sure about it to the extent of what we are about evolution.

  • 4:16 - 4:20 says it all and tells us why we evolve. Mutations occur, yes, but our environment is the main driving force.

  • thank u very much, this was great i want a male bonobo. the females have that wierd vagina butt thing

  • I'm a Chimpanzee and totally disagree with this documentary.

  • lol... foxp2 mutation? that would be the secret of the human evolution? is this a joke, or what? these guys understand nothing about evolution... it is not the language to create the brain, but the brain to create the language! you won't be able to talk, if you have nothing to say...

  • So natural selection is necessary...This means saving those lives from genetic defects is kind of pointless since they will later on in life just mate, and pass on that mutation. (Bad mutation) Like for example that bad speech problem I wonder how they got laid.

  • Comment removed

  • I really enjoyed this series, thanks for posting.

  • i wonder wat the first language was...

  • At 3:25 the guy walking throught time looks to me like jesus.

  • imagine what we could do if we could controll all our brain, we would look at the humens of today like we do at this chimps

  • what if we could find a way to produce that mutation in apes

  • @poodlegirl782

Then we'd be looking at the Rise of Planet of the Apes.

  • I just have one question after watching this. Why did humans get weaker jaws, what happened to us that didn't happen to apes?

  • @rapturjesuss All biological structures have a resource costs attached to them. This can be in building and maintaining the structure (in the case of the jaw). If this additional cost provides an added benefit to the individual over one without it, it can be selected for. If there is no additional benefit or a detriment then it can be selected against.

  • @djarm67 In other words it is Natural Selection. The best adapted to their environment will be able to procreate more readily. If that person/animal procreates more then their genes are spread more widely and rapidly. The gene is passed down and if it continues to benifit that species then that gene will eventually become the predominant gene.

  • @big0tone In a nutshell

  • @rapturjesuss

The fact that one ape was born with a weaker jaw was a minor coincidence, a mutation. Similar to a child being born with a cleft lip mutation. However, this biological difference didn't PARTICULARLY hurt the effected ape, and benefited him with a larger brain capacity. So, this trait allowed him/her to mate, pass on the gene, and thus began the modern day species of homo-erectus.... AKA, us. :)

So to answer your question, what happened to us DID happen to the apes... one ape.

  • @rapturjesuss Invention of the blow job and the resistance to biting down because it would get them slapped lead to loose jaws.

  • Can all you bible freaks fuck off?

You do realise evolution is recognized WORLDY as a fact

No matter what your opinion is

  • Loved it! Thank you

  • Nice documentary, very Interesting

  • severe speech disorder? i just thought he was british...

  • Comment removed

  • I cant belive... That we are all technically black... Jk

  • @PS3HeroJ05H

Haha......we're all pink on the inside.

  • I see it as evidence that 9/11 attacks were planned if you view the frame of the two clocks near the end of the video. one has only a nine then the other has only an 11. The question is when was this filmed?

  • Thanks, djarm67. I love science and love to know where we came from.

  • Thanks for uploading this, it was very interesting! Definitely worth a watch

  • @Songspoint Me

  • @djarm67 Sorry to burst your bubble but that is not possible.

  • @Songspoint Ive known more people who have witnessed and seen evolution than people who have seen god!

  • @MrDBarch No one has witnessed evolution and no one witnessed god.

  • @Songspoint no one has ever witnessed evolution? Clearly you're spewing out words. Any person with an IQ higher than 2 digits will inherantly understand that evolution can be witnessed. Go visit a horse breeder over a period of 15 yrs. Open your eyes and close your bible.

  • @MrDBarch Oh really? There is someone that seen apes envolving into a human? I don't know what horse breeders or a book have to do what I'm saying...

  • @Songspoint Yes we have witnessed Evolution, it starts in the Chromosomes, just watch as your skin starts Mitosis...

  • @RacinZilla007 I was talking about the evolution from ape to human, but I do believe in it.

  • @Songspoint Look at your chest. Can you see your lung? No. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  • @KristalKleer I seen lungs before. So I know it exist.

  • @Songspoint Haha, I'm joking more than anything. But even so, my point is that the immediate visibility of something isn't the only defining factor in whether or not it exists.

In any case, I have respect for all viewpoints, so I'm really not looking to argue here. I'm mainly just playing devil's advocate.

  • @KristalKleer Yup.

  • @Songspoint Bacteria? Dogs? Even foxes in that russian fox breeding experiment. wallabies? Those have all evolved in the last 150 years... Races of dogs we did not have 150 years earlier, different bacteria mutated and became resistant to many antibiotics, ect.

Even man! Yup! More and more people have allergies for example, the genes can be transmitted more easilly thanks to medecine.

  • @Songspoint

Yup. Bacteria evolve all the time. Proven. Indisputable. Fact.

Bacteria ARE alive, bacteria DO evolve. To say that evolution is false is incorrect.

  • @Songspoint it has been seen multiple times over in species that have fast reproduction rates. its harder to see in humans because we typically have a reproduction rate of 25ish years. but in bacteria, insects and such. it has already been seen

  • @hawkister I'm not saying I don't believe in evolution from apes to humans, I'm saying have anyone seen it to prove we envoled from apes. But I do believe in that evolution though. Everyone that replys thinks I don't believe in evolution or I believe in god. I don't know if there's a superior being or not, but I do believe in the evolution from apes to humans.

  • @hawkister And for god sakes no one ever read my other comments. There I deleted that comment that everyone replys to.

  • lol, humans came from a monkey..... evolution has gotta be the dumbest religion!

  • @frudreek Evolution isn't a religion. It's based on facts not beliefs.

  • @frudreek Also if it were a religion there would be temples and religios text none of witch the theries of evolution have. You have nothing to compete with and you are not being oppressed. People who know how evolution works don't tell you what to believe so why are you trolling us?

  • lol, humans came from a monkey..... evolution has gotta be the dumbest religion!

  • @frudreek are you by any chance from usa?

  • @frudreek You religion freaks are beyond stupid. How can you watch something as through and understandable as this video and choose to believe in deities and magical fairytales? Are you really that stupid or just too stubborn to admit what you believe is wrong? And evolution is not a religion, its a process that is proved and exist today. I could explain it to you but you prefer to believe in fiction so Id be wasting my time. My opinion is religion is primitive culture dying slowly. Go figure.

  • Thanks for uploading, hope you upload more ^^

  • Anyone who critisises this video for not showing evidence is grasping at a desperate straw. Of course the video doesn't present evidence. Its a summery of the evidence that scientists collect behind the scenes. You want evidence? Go to the museums, go to the universities and ask the scientists. If you are threatened by this stuff - then your beliefs are shaky and in need of revising.

  • @unifiedreality no one claiming to be a submitter to the truth should be afraid of truth but this stuff is mere allegations

  • I love my monkey roots.

  • This "documentary" presents assertion after assertion with no proof what so ever. If that was science I would not want to have anything to do with it. This is a religion, nothing more.

  • @PeaceAndGloryMB "LALALALA NOT LISTENING!!!"

Go a head and believe what you want to believe. Staying blissfully ignorant seems to comfort you. That's fine. Just don't try to project your ignorance on people doing real research.

  • @TrueMusou I am afraid that you are the one who needs education. Presently I see you are at most schooled, but certainly not educated. I say this in an attempt to help! You need to learn what is Assertion, Conjecture, Theory, Proof. This documentary is mere pseudo science poking at a problem and asserting statements, expressing their assumptions and ideas, but I saw no proof what so ever. In fact they need a completely different approach if they are to be scientific. Hope this helps!

  • @PeaceAndGloryMB Tossing around semantics to try to shoot down scientific theory is a losing battle, friend. You may disagree with the methods of the tests. But to do so, you must offer: #1, reasons why the methods are wrong, and #2, a more substantiated answer to the question. You have offered neither. Instead, you sit behind your keyboard shouting foul at independent research groups who all come to a common resolution to a hypothesis.

Now, who are we more likely to believe?

  • @TrueMusou ha ha, very clever

  • @TrueMusou nicely said ;) ..

  • Oh my god, that was awesome. Now I know why we are different! It makes perfect sense. I knew it had to be mutation, since many types of apes lived with our ancestors at the same places, so it couldn't have just been the enviorment favouring certain traits. But damn, I could never have figured out that it was THIS, lol!

anyway, thanks for uploading this. It answered a HUGE question that I've been thinking about for so long: Why did we evolve like we did, and no one else?

  • nice!

  • is it a racist document for black people?

  • I noticed most of the experiments left the lower primate to figure it out on it's own. But the children all had adults looking on encouraging them and smiling when they noticed things. These visual cues seem admittedly as important to the chimps and apes.

  • @SGTRandyB you said it, i was thinking the same thing

  • 3.00 did humans go from looking like monkeys, to looking like hairy black people, then brad pitt, being from africa and that. Where does the hair loss and skin colours come in.

    Thanks.

  • @DylanBobMr

Bro you sayin' black folks look like monkeys?

    Watchu implyin'?

  • @DylanBobMr Our ancestors (fully evolved homo sapiens) all came from Africa, they were all blacks. It took them 150K years to go from Africa to Europe. Due to different weather conditions such as less sun and colder climate, their skin colors changed. Melanin in the skin wasn’t needed as much to protect them from the sun and thus became paler. Our physical differences are nothing but mere adaptations to different environments. Learn some more....

  • best documentary i've seen! i really don't understand why anyone belives in any god. all religions are made up stories from the past trying to give an answer to why things are as they are, and now, as we can understand from this documentary, we get smarter for every generation. it just doesnt make sense why people would still belive something that was said and written down thousands of years ago, when they have the answer right infront of their eyes, here on youtube!

  • I do not see why the belief in the existence of God and the theory of evolution are incompatible. Just because we evolved does not mean God does not exist, and vice versa. The argument (if you can call it that) is borne out of ignorance.

"The truth of our faith becomes a matter of ridicule among the infidels if any Catholic, not gifted with the necessary scientific learning, presents as dogma what scientific scrutiny shows to be false. " - St. Thomas Aquinas

    Great documentary BTW. =^__^=

  • Learning our similarities is just amazing! Great documentary!

  • @subzero3cx8 youre hilarious, stupid tho lol

  • Amazing documentary, loved it.

  • its a shame stupid videos with justin beiber have 50 million! this quality documentary should have that number so people would wake up a little bit and get over their stupid religious beliefs!

  • @carabinieri210

Well...we can take some comfort in the fact that you and I will probably be equally repulsed by Justin Bieber as a bonobo ape. There's some cultural solidarity.

  • besides seeing comments of nut cases this video was great. i knew some information before hand of some of these study's but this brought even more depth. thanks for the video. felt it was time well spent away from seeing the banana arguments and stuff that hurt my brain. i was beginning to think for just a moment we were intelligent design without intelligence lol. just kidding but really, the stuff iv been seeing makes me sad that people are mislead by religion propaganda and really believe it.

  • Excellent watch, thanks!

  • Humans aren't apes. We're homos. Which probably actually bugs a lot more people. :)

  • great documents

  • You wanted to eat us?, huh...? stupid beasts of the wild, well who is in a cage now! huh? who? who´s in a cage now! IN YOUR FACE! *goes apeshit*

  • Science cannot prove that god doesnt exist, it only proves that everything he says in the bible is wrong, and what else do you want? Lol

Church attacks science all the time with their faith bullshit when science proves them wrong with real evidence

Church scares you so you can join, first thing they ask you when they come to your door is "if you die right now, where would you go, hell or heaven" lmao true story lol

  • @andru64 I like how all these darwin groupies mindlessly spout their talking points like odedient non-thinking sheeple. Have ALL these darwin sheep people done ALL these experiments themselves? NO! Have they empircally SEEN a austriopithicus evolve to homosapiens??? NO! All they can do is to point to some 'authority' like a high priest of 'science' like Asimov,Gould,Sagan, etc. A Free Thinker like myself knows this video is crap!

  • @kdc43 lol. we know due to studying and paying attention in high school biology or the study of life. even if you don't believe in evolution the fact remains we are very similar. an idiot would disagree. we don't see evolution take place because it happens over thousands of years. how do we know? the evidence points to that direction. we can learn and test things for our self to see if its true. sheep don't do that. why do you believe in science up to the point of evolution?

  • @kdc43 further more notice you say "priest". its obvious you know the argument of authority figure and the church. in science there is no authority figure and ideas are constantly challenged, proved, disproved and rewritten and evaluated to be of highest truth and authenticity. even you can challenge the idea as you did. now you must disprove it and show how and why this is untrue with evidence and proof. until then you are showing your ignorance and carry false claims.

  • @kdc43 im guessing your religious and faith(blind belief) is your substitute for evidence and proof. the chances are you can only rant and use claims and hope some one takes it seriously much like faith. your argument so far is not one of reason, evidence, or proof. people of science think. we progress technology and medical and much more from thinking.why believe and use what science created and then turn around and say this is bull?because certain aspects goes against a genocidal book? do tell

  • @muaythaijunky

You think that we are monkeys...

    Pfffft!

As if we go "ooga booga!!! ooga boooga!!!"

    THAT'S SILLY!!!

  • @Hammersley1967 no, i don't. just the fact you said that not only tells me your religious and brain washed but you have no actual knowledge on evolution. you clearly only know what the religious have told you rather then EVER look at the facts. even in this video they clearly show we are not the same and constantly say of our DNA difference. we are all of the same family but we are not monkeys. whats silly is the fact you believe in talking snakes, rib women and magical fruit. lol. evidence plz?

  • @muaythaijunky

Now you think that I'm a monkey and a snakey!!!

So I go "OOGA BOOOGA!!! OOGA BOOOGA!!! SSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!"

    THAT'S SILLY YOU SILLY BILLY!!!

    PFFFFT!!!

  • @Hammersley1967 no. obvious troll is obvious. i think you are a human being. we are not monkeys. your obviously have not a clue about what iv said.

  • Great documentary! Thanks for posting.

This beautifully illustrates the paradoxical nature of relationship between mutation and natural selection. A mutation which may appear harmful to an individual's survival at first glance can actually have lasting positive consequences for the reproductive sucess of the species.

  • Wow, that was truly amazing!

  • Awesome series. Thanks for uploading it.

  • just wacthed all of the 10. good job on posting

  • so we're are like a family.we're born frm the same type but with different colors and culture.

  • Next huge step in evolution will come with computer technology. We will make computers that can think for themselves a million times better than we could about anything, or we will incorporate computers as an extension of ourselves in a much more dramatic way than we do now. Either way the result I think will be less like the difference between human and chimp and more like the difference between humans and bacteria. My thoughts at least.

  • @heatmourning33 and those human computers if they are able to reproduce, after millions of years after taking over the world, they probably will be puzzled wondering how they came into existence and resort to studying human beings as the way we do with chimps- so as to discover their so called primitive human ancestors....just saying ...;D

  • @niklasoti Haha yeah. And they will come to the conclusion that they were intelligently designed, which of course they were. But they won't be able to believe that those Humans could have done it.

  • one word..................fantastic

  • Wow this is a phenomenal video. I just people could just watch it without having to have a pointless fight between theism and athiesm?

I know a lot of people say that they'll be glad when all the theists die out (or vice versa) but I'll be happy once the relaxed people breed more and take over the world. Really guys, personal beliefs or lack there of is not the end of the world. I'm sure we're all perfectly happy just the way we are.

  • @miriahofthewind when people of the school boards that our children learn in deny evolution and keep it out of text books becasue of their own beliefs. when the president of the united states says that atheist shouldn't be considered citizens. when people preach about a broonzed age book that speaks of rape, torcher, murder, genicide, homophobia, and ignorance. when people completly deny reality and except blind faith. just some of the reasons why people have these fights.

  • @kiddhitta I can understand that. I can also understand why many secular people are upset and they have a right to be. However I like to live in a reality that believes in comprimise and understanding, not a dictatorship of thought. A reality where all people are equal despite what religious preference or lack there of. I like to think that just because I'm religious doesn't I'm out of touch with the physical world. I have no problem with your reality, what's your deal with mine?

  • @miriahofthewind from this comment i assume you, yourself, are not deeply religious. and i understand that there are many people who if you didnt know they believed in god, still actthe same about the physical world as i would. but there are a large amount of people (44% of americans) of believe the world was created 6000 years ago in the form it is today. we know that to not be true but people dont except that. not believing in the supernatural can be very inlightning.

  • omg all you guys are like so smart with all your comments im so horny now

  • The newest innovation is that gods dont exist. We decide our future, and we decide what the meaning of life is.

  • zomg!!! it doesn't say this in the bible so it cant be true!

  • I wonder how much the 16 people shown in this video with the "old" version of FOXP2 would score on the instant memory test...

  • Humans don't adapt. They rebuild their environment to suit themselves. They are small in number, because we keep developing forest and jungle. They're in perfect harmony with nature and we screw it all up.

  • Amazing documentary

  • Awesome, thanks.

  • communication has done so much for our species. it would be interesting to see why some people find learning new languages easier than others.

  • human still evolve,we are much taller and we live much longer then our ancestor 5000 years ago.See how kids learn thing faster and have more knowledge ,you can see now that people can speak 2,3 or even 4 languages ,thats an excellent proof that we are still evolving.I wonder how we will look like in another 5000 years

  • When proper science replaces Easter Bunniness as a gauge or reference of worthwhile opinions and decisions on significant political decisions, at all levels, oh, happy day.

    Oh, happy day.

  • what if the world's resources don't hold out and everything collapses. there might be sped up evolution and crazy super smart swindler species emerge

  • I think we've become pretty sure since this video that neanderthals had complex language. We just had some as-of-yet undetermined advantage over them that allowed us to steamroll them out of Europe when we migrated there. Kinda sad, really.

  • Absolutely AMAZING documentary! I cannot understand why these video uploads have so few views!?! It's been almost 2 years since the upload of this documentary and the number of views has not exceeded 10,000! And the amount of negative feedback is extremely surprising! I don't see the same on most other evolutionary videos, even IF they openly argue against religion/creation!

I guess when raw evidence that cannot be ignored is presented, the only thing left to do is to rate it down :(

  • @Spetsop there is no negative feedback, all the thumbs down are equally the same on all the videos(or at least most of them)

  • @camera31 When the video was in its 9,000 to 11,000 views, the dislikes exceeded the likes.

  • great documentary, djarm67

    watched all of ' em

  • the most inspiring documentary I've ever watch.

As old guys said: "start to know yourself by knowing others"

    Thanks for all...

  • Naive, naive. They say that one mutation gave us all languistic skills! Laughable! :)

  • so basically, we're all mutants? brilliant, yet obviously true =)

  • It is unfortunate that this great program did not promote the conservation of great apes. It treats the great apes as a mere object but not living beings whose wellbeing is severely threatened by the humans.

  • Now all they need to do to continue their research is to surgically alter the jaw muscle in a ton of apes then try and teach them English and see what happens.

  • @hockeyhatesgooglnow If we have the millions of years evolution takes, this could certainly be tested. Just look at how much human's selection has created different breeds of dogs which look completely unlike each other and can do very different things. I just hope we don't destroy the earth before finishing that experiment!

  • @hockeyhatesgooglnow Thats not how it works, they would need to alter a fetus so it grows to be an ape with a weaker jaw, bigger brain, similar tongues and voiceboxes to humans... doubt anyone has that ability or even the knowledge of where to start.

  • Thanks for posting this. :)

  • we learned to talk apparently 300.000 years ago.

if god created the world millions of years ago, how did he communicate? LOL

    religion fail, science ftw.

  • @YearraeY kinda ruins the old testament =L lol!

  • @YearraeY god is not human and who did he have to communicate to? idiot.

  • damn love chimps they're the most interesting creatures in the world...

i wish they bring out "Monkey-Ed Movies" again..

  • who is to say the spontaneous genetic mutation wasn't sparked by some higher being? I don't think science and religion have to be polar opposites

  • 3:28 Jesus is back

  • Jesus can come back in two ways.

1: Physically himself, in all literal and biological form.

2: Symbolically, or metaphorically. ie a new human with new biological body but with similar or same mission.

With that info in mind, start finding where the New Jesus is?

  • Jesus is dead

  • Genius, read my above response again. Concentrate on the 2nd option.

  • Yeah, Jesus is dead and reincarnation is balls.

    Lol.

  • if you ask me jesus is not real it is redicules and elogical

  • *ridiculous, *illogical

  • Is sad how videos like this ends with wars between Creationists and atheists instead of making you guys see how important is to help the Apes survive extinction.

  • i wish they had a video how white people became white :) i always wanted to know

  • white people needed ligthter skin tones to absorb more sunlight, which was not as abundant in europe as it is in africa

  • Excellent vdieo. Both this and the evolution and of the eye are both excellent in understanding human development.

  • this is all very very unlikley, one mutation cannot change a whole specier even over millions of years.

  • what are your qualifications to say this? If your car is broke you don't take it to a waitress. If your sick you don't goto a construction worker for a cure. You goto science. Mechanics, scientists. They are the ones qualified to fix those things. SO who are you to say that this is all unlikely. You mean the PhD holders are wrong? What degree do you have? The thousands and thousands of fossils are all wrong? Genetics are wrong? Chemistry? all wrong? i bet you believe in god huh.

  • Care to show me where it ever says Darwin did not believe at the end of his life? Sounds like Creationist quote mining again. I'd like for you to find me that literal translation.

  • oh because your such a well educated and well read person. i said i am not a creationist or a darwinist. nor do my beleifs have any implications on what I know. you can keep dribbling that crapulence that spews out of your head. im not showing you anything, you can go do some research yourself and get of your lazy ass and work it out. not your research assistant you moron.
