WILL BE A BLESSING IF THEY never GET A MAJOR SIGNING. ANY BAND I KNOW WORTH THEIR SALT DONT need MAJORS, AND MAKE THEIR OWN CIRCUIT. like the attitude here.
i like his appraoch and self belief in only playing with and when he feels enjoyment. integrity. i dint find that same sentiment when i was part of the college performace art courses, they were all such fork tongued little shits...
i totally share his view bout buying records. downloading stuff makes it boring and if you searched for a record for month and you finally find it somewhere it is a magical moment. downloading ruins music's value in a way...
Disagreed. Downloading music if anything makes the experience more "true", as your opinion of an album isn't effected by something like the packaging. If you like the album, download it.
@GraveGratification i see your point, but on the other hand - imagine "close to the edge" by Yes without the roger dean artwork - it's just part of the album!
butthat's just my opinion. i don't have a problem with anyone downloading music
@WizardofFuzz any band worth their salt gets paid by doing GIGS. you will find generally most complaints about free downloading come from "pop" acts and those who cant or wont play live. after all, live music is meant to be their job. hardly anyone makes money from sales anyhow. and in fact sony/emi mkake MORE from selling blank cassette/cd/dvd's than they do from their SIDELINE in music sales.
@GraveGratification absolutly... and of course the need for a "stamp of approval". and all the trite smugness that entails. oh, look at the size of MY package", lol.
coldplay were not being naive (even tho i think they are dull and boring and pro-tooled to death) when they were saying people could pay what they wanted even if free.. i aint no impressario, but i upload mine freely. i only expect recompnese for gigging, if i can be bothered.
@WizardofFuzz rubbish. most bands aint worth downloading for free or paying. and if they dont earn from doing gis, they dont desrve either stuff freely or paid downloaded.
its rubbish about it devaluing it too.
why do folk still need the corporate stamp of aproval. rock fans sound like old men.
download the lot, squat the lot, be free, if a band does a gig, then we contribute for their time and expense, REAL time and real expense. this fuss is due in main to miming pop-acts get real.
Phew, if Ive known they hit there audience with there guitars I may not have seen them XD
