He does have quite a new look in SC2, but take into consideration that all we see of him in the original is this tiny portrait animated in very dated visuals which were great for its time but still, details aren't definitive.

They didn't renegade his appearance here and put it past StarCraft; look up The Betrayal cinematic from Wings of Liberty. You will see Jimmy in his old days.
