Police Commissioner Blakelock runs out into a crowd of 100 cops yelling, "They were supposed to kill them! Shoot! Shoot! Kill them!" How retarded is that?
The ending to this movie, was probably the most retarded thing I've ever seen.
You're a cop, you begin to surround a fellow cop who you just shot at along with hundreds of other cops. You watch your commissioner get shot dead by the cop you were just shooting at, only to say NOTHING, do NOTHING and somehow the audience is supposed to understand just why you did nothing...
Fucking stupid as hell, very disappointing considering the rest of the movie was very good.
you found the rest of the movie beleivable, like how he stole a bike from 50 bikers or how the police would sit and pump 1000 rounds into a house w/ a fugitve in it or any of the other outlandish shit that happened...
Believable? Did I say anything about it being believable?
Actually read my comment you jackass before jumping to conclusions. I said the ending was fucking stupid, and the rest of the movie was good. Nothing more, nothing less.
best line in this film. "the reason they picked you is not coz ur a good cop... its coz u suck at your job and if you died, noibody would give a rats ass!!!!"

This was a great movie, one of many from Clint Eastwood. There's a scene in it where Shockley & Malley are surrounded by L.V. Metro and a shootout starts where about 50 or so cops open fire on the house with everything but the kitchen sink. By the time the "mad minute" of firing is over the house is riddled with holes and collapses on itself from being shot to pieces. That was a really memorable scene and so was when the bus was shot to ribbons as well by a couple hundred Phoenix P.D. cops.
I like the scene where Sandra Locke teases the cop in the car who was asking her what it was like to be a whore.
I love this film, Locke & Eastwood's stormy on screen relationship is great to watch, it's only the ending with the police shooting at the bus that I wasn't too keen on.
Yeah, the ending was so stupid and unreal. The entire Phoenix blindly following orders to kill....one of their fellow cops, no less....That maniacal commissioner didn't seem to have a hold on reality at all.
Yes apart from the end this was still a very good movie, all the cops at the end were stood together like a load of zombies, it was hilarious!! Clint is still my favorite actor though & I'll forgive him for this one crappy ending!
Yeah, like you, despite the corny ending, the rest of it was great. Although, I must admit, Ben Shockley doesn't remind me of Dirty Harry. I would think anybody with half a brain would've cought on early that the new commissioner was the moll in the whole conspiracy.
