I think the best way to reduce carbon emissions in the west is to have an immigration moratorium. Statistics clearly show the USA population grew by 100 million in the last 40 years and nearly all the growth was due to immigration.

The west could drasically reduce carbon emissions with a reduction in immigration and population and would have nearly stable growth in the USA with a moratorium on immigration.

The Sierra Club accepted over U.S.$100M (from David Gelbaum), to NOT discuss immigration and overpopulation. They are not a credibly unbiased source. The only real, workable long-term environmental strategy is a curb on immigration to develped countries and funding family-planning initiatives in the third world. Overpopulation is the primary problem.

The Sierra Club doesn't get it. They believe that we can conserve and become more efficient to save pollution. That still doesn't change anything. The only heavy weight energy source that doesn't pollute that can displace coal is nuclear. The Sierra Club spreads fear mongering and lies about nuclear. They'd rather see the world burn and say "told you so" than admit they are wrong about nuclear energy.

If you know anything about the Sierra you know that they are mostly scum bag lawyers who have never spent anytime in the forests. They have hijacked an organization that most people think was a good organization. How can you say the Sierra Club sucks and its their fault because of a wildfire? Are you using the false Bush perspective that if we cut down trees, it will prevent forest fires? It's exactly the opposite. If only the EPA were controlled by the Sierra Club..

I can say that the Sierra Club sucks because I have had 20 years of studying the organization and what they have done. The Forests in the West have a different eco system than Eastern Forests. There are way too many trees per arce. With so many trees compeating for a limited amount of water a conditions exists where none of the trees is getting adequate moisture. This is causing a condition where the trees are dying and causing a fire hazzard. Learm something about foresty before posting.
