La Baglioni non la si puo' proprio sentire.., stonata, crescente... acida.. Mi spiace, l'ho apprezzata tanto in Amneris, ma la Adalgisa non è proprio il suo pane.
The Beauty and the Beast... I remember that evening, the genius of Caballe saved the duet. Baglioni is the most horrible Adalgisa, out of tune, no coloratura.. at all, the voice has at least three different colours and she is definitely not mezzosoprano. But now she is one of the most mafious voice teachers in Italy... What a shame that Cossotto could not sing that evening!
This is wonderful to watch. Baglioni is inferior (replacing the indisposed Cossotto as a last minute understudy), yet she sings the performance of her life. Her genus is being drawn from her by the amalgamation of Caballe and the great Bellini. Yet through it all both singers remain humble their contribution fleeting. Bellini is eternal. Thank you Oneguin impeccable musical selections. I send my kind and warm regards my friend in music.
Montserrat Caballe - a most magnificent singer . . . this is a wonderful video clip, and it shows Mme Caballe acknowledging Bruna Baglioni's contribution to this scene. Truly a lovely, talented, generous person.
Oh yes... La Caballe is the greatest Norma since Callas. Quote: "I noticed Caballe affirmed the lesser known Baglioni's performance twice. She exudes a warmth and generosity of spirit not usually associated with opera divas." If you reach the ability that Caballe did in her singing it can only be born of a need to find a universal truth within the music. Simply, there is no room for childish ego. She (Caballe) is beyond this :).
I once had the pleasure of meeting this lady at the back door stage of a concert. It was on the very night of my 18th birthday. I was speechless when I meet her. Her presence was something ethereal. La Caballes response was to take both my hands in hers, look me in the eyes and smile. I will never forget that. It was something indefinable. She has a great and powerful presence. She is aware of this.
However, she is humble and reserved. Quite the servant to music. Although, I dont imagine she would suffer a fool gladly. Kind regards my friend in music.
I used to own a full recording of this very performance(on LP). Caballe here is absolutely magnificent, Baglioni's voice blends very well with her's. Molinari-Pradelli does great job in the pit.
The magnificient Norma of Caballe. And Bagloni as a last minute Cossotto replacement does well, sweet voice and Montsi recognises it. Am I greedy to ask for more uploads from this performance? Thank you!
Bellissima la complicità fra due grande artiste! sintomo di una splendida sinergia...

I begging here. Onegin, was this opera ever
recorded in full? The audio was. because I
found it. What about the video? I have been

my misery...if it doesn't exist, please tell me!

I keep coming back to this video. Montserrat, of course,
is sublime, but, with her encouragement, Baglioni probably
gives the best performance of her career!

@Desideria7 What pernicious rubbish you write! (That's the polite version)
Baglioni sings delightfully and most sweetly.

This was an absolutely extraordinary performance! Caballe is always thrilling and
Baglioni sang beautifully. It takes guts to
replace Cossotto! I noticed Caballe affirmed
the lesser known Baglioni's performance
twice. She exudes a warmth and generosity
of spirit not usually associated with opera
divas. If only I could see "Mira, o Norma" from
this performance, I could die happy!

I have this on CD, but Fiorenza Cossotto sings
"O rimembranza" and the trio before withdrawing. Bruna Baglioni begins with "Mira, o Norma." Do you remember if your LP was the same?

How wonderful to hear Caballe in another interpretation of Norma which is as magnificent as the one in Orange. And she looks beautiful.
Great thanks for this video!

La Caballe (when in her prime) cannot be beaten in this... it is perfection; nothing more and nothing less.

@Orfeus80 No, you're not greedy...it's probably the best 'Norma'
with Montserrat on video. I have spent years looking for it; I've only
found the CD. I have the l'Orange one; that was easy to get, but
I'd love to have this one, too, even if Cossotto/Baglioni share the
mezzo role. Plus, I love Ivo Vinco as Oroveso. Anybody know where
the full video can be found? Please, please let us know where!
