They cover their faces to stop persecution not only of them but of their families. You do not look at all aspects of this horrible war. Yes it was the big problem but the british had so much fucking "pride" that they couldn't pull out of ireland, cause they couldn't compromise. So a few thousand people die, but hey who cares?
