Since seeing this movie again earlier today I have been looking like crazy to find a downloadable version of the song and I finally did using Limewire, type in "on the beach" and the author is "richard gibbs" it should be the one at the very bottom 4,455 KB it's about 4:45 long, violins start to play at about 1:35.
