This EP is one of my favorites. A Change of Seasons is a true demonstration of pure progression. Sucks Portnoy had to leave, because he didn't just take his drumming skills. His song writing was impeccable. I feel that the band has a good ear for selecting their next drummer though. I can't wait to find out who it is. Live on DT! \m/

@thenetslug If you don't know by now, though it is highly unlikely because you sound like a true DT fan; the newest drummer is 5 time winner of 'The Worlds Fastest Drummer' competition, Mike Mangini...But he DEFINITELY cannot write like Portnoy, nobody (modern bands, so don't think I include RUSH and Pink Floyd under that umbrella, because bands past like 89 when DT put out their first album)

He just treats the band like it's a job and only shows up for recording and shows; otherwise I guess he never even talks to the other members.

@offthewalltv Gadd and Weckl are outstanding but they can't play EVERYTHING like Vinnie can. Tommy Igoe might be the only other drummer as good as Vinnie. But Vinnie is the master of rhythmic modulation, advanced syncopation, and polyrhythms. Listen to Karizma - Document to hear Vinnie play Weckl style.

@ifearnobeer422 Let me tell ya, I saw DT on the 2000 and the 2002 tours. Amazing shows. Something I'll never forget. The dvd's tend to capture them very well though so at least you can get an idea of how good they were live. I'm still kinda hoping Mike changes his mind.
