Great tone, great phrasing and ideas - great feel. This is some very deep bop playing. Once our current president was referred to as "clean and articulate" - that's what I would say about Mr. Adler's musicality. What's impressive is how MUCH he's saying - his lines are significant, not flashy. This is jazz playing for all musicians to ponder, not just guitar players.
Beautiful mate. is that arrangement by mark voelpel or is it your own?? I have his arangement for guitar and it sounds similar but obivously the lead to this song will sound similar no matter who transcribes it.
I wanted to post something on your youtube page but I could not. Just wanted to say you're an amazing player!, congratulations!. Greetings from Mexico!.
any recommendations for cool solo licks or scales? I'm playing the piece with a percussion ensemble with all keyboards. trying to put together a groovy solo for the vibraphone
I'm mostly impressed by how well you can breath life into the head and solo at this tempo. It doesn't seem forced or rushed at all, it's hard to lay back something this upbeat. Very good.
i think all of you criticizing him shoudl shut the fuck up.. ive been playing guitar for 14 years and im giong to berklee college of music for jazz guitar.. ive not nothing negative to say.. keep it to your self.. sounds great dan
Hey Dan, I just looked at your transcription of this solo from your website, and by looking at it I was able to see so many more subtleties in your playing that I never noticed before. You've got some talent man.
Basically all I do is listen to hard rock that consists of riffs and insane solos... but this tops it, it's complex and all over the fret-board but has rhythm. I'm extremely impressed. Awesome job.
I love the content, but I would love it even more if you thickened up your tone a little. You've got a 175 there! Use it! I mean, tone is always a personal thing, but this just doesn't do it for me. It might just even be a matter of turning up the volume a little...
yeah he's got some some freakin lines, long at that too (hard to carry those things). But the light tone works, not every guitarist has to sound like Jim Hall (who's great in his own right and such a nice dude at that). I think the notes breath more if it's lighter, check out George Barnes if you wanna hear the opposite of Hall. But ballads sound great dark, me thinks
Im with Birdman Deuce . It would be the day if jazz got more of the recognition it deserves today especially for jazz guitar ! I mean bring me Joe Pass since were talking shredding the man didnt even bother with reverb !...........This guy is ripping it up too !
ah yeah some real dee jazz stuff right here
man keep it working
peace from france

He isn't shredding :) It is a normal 8th note lines on jazz :) the notes are still singable.
A normal swing/bop = Bidubidudidipdidip..etcetc
Shred = drdrdrdrdr or blblblblbb

nice one, any tips for playing this? I have the sheet music but the tempo is so fast
tomgamble100 3 years ago
Play it slow, then a little faster, then a little faster, and so on and so on, then you'll have it down. It's all about patience and perserverance.

Charlie Parker would say, "If you cant melt clay then don't play."

Didn't he also say "if you can't cope, do dope?"

Jazz is proof that you don't need gain knobs rolled all the way to 11 to shred.
BirdmanDeuce26 3 years ago 15
amen to that! **** shredding, this is REAL music!
sc2man13 3 years ago
No, it's shredding.
Not that shredding isn't real music.
emixolydian 3 years ago
It's real music, it's just not good music. Don't be hating on bad music, its as expressive as jazz to some people.

I love GOOD shredding and jazz..
