  • lol gettin husky on saturday and callin it Mika ( cant wait )

  • I've had a husky for 2.5 years now, and I wouldn't trade her for any other dog in the world. While it takes them a bit to learn certain commands, she is a smart little bugger. She's learned how to unlock baby gates on her own and even learned how to open the kennel lock.. now we have to keep a bike lock on her kennel to keep her from opening it. Her personality is amazing and hysterical, and honestly, I haven't seen another dog with such a big personality. I love huskies :)

  • i am getting a siberian husky male, maverick, in 2 weeks. i'm trying to figure out the best way to train him and in the process i am learning many things i never knew. When do you suppose it is the best time to start training? will they be able to comprehend the commands at only 5-6 weeks??? Thanks!!!

  • whos the caveman? ' miko me make fire, fire good miko ' 'me fight tyrannosaurus, miko stay'

  • haha isac hayes has gotten a husky :D

  • a lot of these comments are horribly wrong- and a puppy who play bites is fine after all his teeth are his hands dont forget that he doesnt know any better yet! thats for you to teach him AND YOU DO NOT have to ever strike or threaten an animal to learn something kill them with kindess and they will love you and obey Cause honestly what kinda dog wants to return to its master Who will only Beat him or yell at him if he doesnt come on a drop of a dime practice being the Alpha make him work for it

  • i have a snow white siberian husky, half a year old and about twice as big as miko, it loves to run and never stops althought it knows how to sit down but thats about it,

  • Please! Stop! You said that beacuse you don't know the Nordic Dogs! They are among the most intelligent dog breeds in the world! Already at 3 months you can teach all the commands, like any other race!

  • PS: my commet was for Earthlinked

  • I have nothing to do with it - ask the AKC - they administered the tests!!! Dogs are bred for a specific purpose - and Siberian Huskies have been bred for hundreds of years as working dogs - NOT for their intelligence!!! Lovable and very playful and sweet YES!!!!! Smart NOT AT ALL!!!

  • I have bred Huskies for 15 years and now Malamute. Are the most intelligent dogs I've ever had, can be trained for obedience and Rally-or already 3 months without any problem. At 2 months e half my old Husky (now 15 years old) had already learned sit, down, come on and look me (my eyes). And that's just the first week! Congratulations Kartelala continues to work with Miko, it will give you lots of satisfaction!

  • VERY doubtful!!! The AKC did their tests over 15 years with 10,000 pure bred dogs - for EACH breed. You managed to train dogs - which were bred NOT to be trained - but to use their intuition!!! NO CHANCE!!! I love my Huskies - but getting them to sit took almost a week - 1 hour EVERY day!!! And my wife's Boarder Collie - learned it in about 15 minutes!!

Top 50 breeds (according to AKC) Boarder Collie is 1st - and Siberian Husky is #49 in intelligence! Huskies are NOT bred for intelligence!!

  • You have to understand the tests - which you do not!! 3 Categories: 1) How many times must a command be repeated for the dog to learn. 2) How long did the dog retain the command. 3)How many commands can the dog learn.

    Huskies - to sit was: 1) 30; 2) 1 day; 3) 6

    Boarder Collie was: 1) 4; 2) 1 week 3) over 100!!!!

And you'll love this one - Poodle was #2!!!!

  • Miko is getting poor training in this tape!! The trainer keeps repeating himself - over and over - so the dog learns that commands MUST be repeated over and over!!!!

  • First - dogs are not a race - GOOBER - they are a species of animal!!!

Second - I have had Huskies for over 20 years.

Third - you CAN teach them commands at 3 months - but a week later they are forgotten and that is FACT based - not love based.

LAST - I still love my huskies more than any other pet!!!!

  • And how does the dog know what you want - if you keep repeating yourself AFTER he has done what you have asked him to do??? Commands should be said ONCE - so the dog understands what you want - and what to do when he hears it!!! A dog cannot say - "I am sitting!!"

  • I don't know if you noticed but the video is fitted CUT & PASTE and the audio isn't SYNC with the video. What you say is true: you can't teach a dog continues to repeat a command, no matter the breed of dog. But it's also true that Huskies have a different understanding from Borders and is linked to the concept of dominance! If it finds in you the leader, it will do anything you want otherwise it say: "Ok, I know what you want but why?". Usually, who trains border is not able to trains huskies

  • lmao! he sounds like an annocuer! lol!!!!

  • Awe, so cute. I want my puppy to be this smart :]

Miko means shrine maiden in japanese lol. (freedict[dot]com if you dont believe me :p)

  • how do u make sure the huskies obey?

  • My husky has had to learn a word the hard way, the word: N O !!!!

  • didn't you just film the dog and then dubbed your voice over? mmm....

  • My Husky hardly listens...the first opportunity he gets, he WILL run away.. he even jumps 1.5 meter high walls. The husky girl is the same, she comes though if you have food! Even though they are stubborn dogs, I love them very much!

  • Well, thanks for the comments. They are beautiful dogs and a whole new experience for me. I have to keep him penned up and I would prefer not. My other dog runs loose and has never been a problem. The breeder told me how smart they are but mine has not approached an aceeptable level of "smartness" yet . He is stubborn and will ignore me unless food is involved. How all those people keep such destructive dogs inside is beyond my understanding. Still, they are loving and adorable animals.

  • They are pretty smart. And you gonna find out that they are very good dogs in the house, even if they behave different outside. My Husky actually obeys to

commands only by hand. No words needed. The only things he ever destroyed was a rubber shoe and an umbrella once, but this was when he was just a puppy.

I can leave him alone in the house for hours without any problems. Just wait and you gonna find out what

a loving, loyal friend you will have.

  • hi kartelala,i have owned huskies for thirty five years.they are very independant but also loving dogs, they get bored easily,so they need a lot of activity to keep them occupied, and yes they are a very smart and clever breed.

  • My Husky is now three years old. The fence in the backyard is only three feet tall, and he never jumped over it, even when there was a cat or a rabbit. I think they become more relaxed with age, and i think it is a matter of training. If you give them the right attention they give you no problems. My dog listens pretty good.

  • @indy78 Run your fucking dogs then asshole. They want to run away cause they never get walked!!!!! Be responsible if you're going to own a husky.

  • how do u get your dog like that?

  • That is a beautiful face!! Huskies are ranked #45 in the top 50 intelligent dog breeds - they ain't real smart!! A husky will learn a command after about 50 repetitions and may forget it after 2 days!! A Boarder Collie (#1) will learn it after about 5 repetitions and never forgets it!!! But I love my two huskies -- they are 9 years old. They rarely pay attention. But if I have a Popeye's biscuit for them -- I think they would play piano if I asked them to!! I think they have trained me well!!

  • Hi, Is husky bites? ty

  • Huskies RARELY bite!! Biting is an aggressive act and most huskies have had all of their aggressivness bred out of them!! They are GREAT with children!!

  • well if you try to take out their undercoat somtimes they will snap at you XP

  • ANY Husky that nips at you - FOR ANY REASON - should not be bread - PERIOD!!! That is an aggressive habit - and NOT tolerated in a Husky!!! MOST breeders will put Husky puppies down for this reason. Huskies are GREAT with children and one that nips or bites should never be bred!! NEVER!!!

  • i was my grandpas and it did not know me that well dogs dont like it when you take out their under coat cause they think your hurting them my husky will never bite me just saying that if you want a husky you need to get it to know you well :P

  • Ummm, no. Any breeder who puts down a husky puppy for nipping should be ashamed of themselves. Puppies especially are JUST PUPPIES. They don't know any better.

Nipping is something you train dogs not to do. Simple. You don't just KILL them for nipping, when you can train them not to. ESPECIALLY puppies who are just too young to know any better.

In fact, people who would kill a puppy simply for nipping is flat out sickening.

I'm not saying this specifically about you, but just in general.

  • Ummmmm. YES. I have talked to MANY husky breeders and biting is NOT tolerated - playful biting is of course allowed. But ANY biting - except in play - is never allowed. This 100% and act of aggression - and a dog that bites - should NOT be around children - it is not safe!!!

  • you obviously dont know what you're saying thats just plain stupid to put a puppy down for doing that they can be taught that its bad...all dogs do that i mean seriously thats animal cruelty
