Hi Jim, so no way to use raw 1/2&1/2 & buttercream? I thought pasteurized dairy products are dead? Anyways if you only used the sour cream on the weekends, is it worth doing all of this? Can I freeze the sour cream if I don't use that much? OMG BRILLIANT IDEA OF YOURS TO FREEZE BUTTERMILK IN ICE CUBE TRAYS! Can I do the same with the whipping cream? THANK YOU! GOD BLESS!
Many thanks Jim, got it. I have the second Buttermilk Raisin 'easy bread' raising at the moment, using the Powdered buttermilk/half & half cream that didn't work. Delicious!!
@colleenz No, Powdered buttermilk is handy to use in baking but for sour cream you need the actual living active bacteria present in real buttermilk. Powdered is lacking this beneficial bacteria.
@bullreporter It doesn't matter much if the buttermilk is cold or not because it is such a small amount compared to the half and half, and it is going to sit ther for one or two days. So you don't have to be so fussy about the temperature.
You act like you are drunk.
