It's a wonderful thing to preserve his family's peace for so many years, meaning that he is a man that values his lovedones and won't make them a trade subject as many others do. Maybe it's the reason that Jon, making the life that would ruin most people's personal life, has still a loving wife and home to come back to. I am sooo happy for him, cause his efforts deserve his reward: a wonderful extended family.
