@ThatOneTallKidd Metroid Zero had its faults. It insisted on unnecessarily forced progression (avoiding sequence breaking, at least,) a COMPLETELY poorly designed final act including almost useless backtracking for unused items (power bombs,) and those obnoxious shinespark puzzles (right up there with the Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask heart pieces in what I like to call "Maybe this mini-game should have better controls") but still...overall...yes...great remake.
@japhasca Really? I thought the Shinespark controlled perfectly, and there are a deceptively large amount of places to sequence break, but you have to REALLY look for 'em.
That said, yeah, Chozodia should have been much easier to get back to Zebes from, or it shouldn't have had so much stuff require the Space Jump/Gravity Suit/Plasma Beam to get. =/
the main problem with this was that it had no maps or save stations. they would much rather re-make a much more popular game like super metroid or fusion. besides, when people hear about an interesting game they usualy go to reviews and the result is almost always the same. some bias critic called the game bad and now everyone doesnt want it. other m ran purely off of the anticipation that the trailers created and it just plain looked cool. most fans ignored the reviews and got the game.
@freezerbabies the only one the remade was the original to 1: fill in story gaps and 2: give metroid a save feature. And make it so your energy doesn't go back down to 30 every time
This is why Nintendo needs to get on the game-DLC bandwagon, downloadable songs and Stage-Builder backgrounds for Brawl, like a CAVE background (not that stupid underground temple one) and this song.
I hear a lot of people in the gaming community talking about how all these classic games should be remade. I'd rather see re-releases in their original forms, and made playable on newer consoles. The only changes they should make are changes to make gameplay a little smoother if it's needed.
@freezerbabies Now I do agree but they should also explore making them like the Prime series as the Trilogy added more depth to the universe which the series takes place.
@freezerbabies If they're going to rerelease it, then doing so with the old graphics is completel counterproductive (except int he case of the virtual console, since that's the whol point there). If you're going to make a full rerelease, and the game looks like a GBC game, it's not gonna sell, regardless of how good it is. Prople are dicks like that.
@ManekIridius Well yeah... No one is going to buy the original Metroid on a disc unless it's part of a collection. Still I meant to refer to Virtual Console and DLC when talking about re-releases. That's why I use the term re-release rather then remake.
Also, real gamers will buy a good game for the game's sake rather than for it's graphics. That's why ff7 is still a very popular download on Playstation Network even though it's one of the worst looking.
@freezerbabies Well, yeah, but Zero Mission is a perfect example of a remake done right, and if that same thing could be done for Metroid II, everyone would be happy.
@freezerbabies I disagree, the first metroid was a great game, but when Nintendo remade it as Metroid Zero Mission, it became a perfect game. So i would love to see a remake of Metroid 2.
Dude, true dat. I listen to this song and I'm just lifted from feeling down and I'm just happy to be alive, it may seem strange that a song could provoke such feelings, but music can do that.
Yeah, well, there would be NO WAY for a Metroid movie to take off. There would be little to no dialogue. If it were to take off, it would have to be more like Halo, and then they would just complain that it was just a Halo Movie rip-off.
Nintendo might not be so lazy. It keeps churning out great titles for its many staple series. It just wants to keep its titles under wraps until they are amazing. Maybe Nintendo's not crazy, but rather it is working towards perfection of its titles.
"Metroid Subzero"? Well, if it takes place after MP3, it'll explain how Ridley came back without his machine parts in Super Metroid. Elaboration on that would be good for fanboys.
I'd still like those remakes done, though. Maybe as DSWare for the newly announced DSi...
Well, they could make it work... but I don't know about that.
Better still than Wiiware, why not remake Metroid II (and Super Metroid, while they're at it) for the DS, just like they did with Metroid Zero Mission for the GBA? Maybe then they could update the graphics from 2D sprites to 2.5D a la New Super Mario Bros.

Brilliant game.
Frustratingly hard against the Zetas and Omegas, but AMAZING in atmosphere. Felt like you were deep in the planet, even on an emulator. :)

reillo9 3 years ago
Unfortunately, this was a Game Boy game. The Wii's VC does not support those.
TheWhiteWolf1337 3 years ago
Really? i can't use the VC yet, but hearing that no GB games will, or can, be played on it is a real disapointment.
romfrc326 3 years ago
Well, it's more than likely a "no."
GB games are not on the VC currently. Nintendo might be able to make it work... but I'm pretty sure that they won't.
TheWhiteWolf1337 3 years ago
They could remake it on Wiiware like they did Toki Tori
