  • thanks a lot, that's fun to play

  • Great job.

  • @PAULFC93 Thank you so much!

    Rick

  • That guitar sounds amazing! Great playing. What guitar is it?

  • @SleepyBridgeTroll Thank you! The guitar is a 1978 Alvarez Yairi DY85. Yairi guitars are very fine guitars and not that well known.

    Rick

  • @azcharlie2009 Yeah, ive never heard of them. Ill have to check them out and maybe get one!

  • @SleepyBridgeTroll Check out the Yahoo Group, Yairi Guitars. There is a lot of useful information about Yairi guitars and sometimes ones for sale. There are some good ones that pop up on ebay every now and then, but be careful. I have three Yairis. One I bought way back when I was in my 20's and I love them all. I also have a Martin HD28 and I like the Yairis just as well. Good hunting.....

    Rick

  • THANK YOU. I hate re-tuning my guitar for one or two songs. This does it for me.

  • @eemukwada You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by.

    Rick

  • I was a bit sceptical at first when you mentioned standard tuning for this song, however, very well done, it sounded fantastic. Will have to try it myself, as constantly re-tuning (although never breaking strings? is this common then?) it's just a ball ache for one song when you are just playing at home for your own pleasure.

  • @ShelsleySpecial Thank you. I too have gotten tired of retuning and strings breaking. This was a simple way to avoid that.

    Rick

  • thanks charlie --- good job keepin it simple but accurate to the feel. I busk alot so I need simple.

  • @andy18401 You're welcome and thanks for watching.

    Rick

  • Very well played ~ It sounds great just the way you play it, in normal tuning......

I bet The chords must have took some working out to play it that way ? Good job ~ Take care, Geoff

  • @williheckaslike Thanks for the nice comment. This is such a difficult song to sing in double drop D tuning unless you detune the guitar to C, like Young did. I had to do something. I don't like to change the tuning on my guitar since I break so many strings!

  • thanks

  • really nice version! I liked to hear it. btw the guitar sounds terrific! ah Yairi? hehee...! ;o)

  • thank for the lesson!!! I greatly appreciate it. I have been looking for the proper "chording" without double drop down C or D. Thanks again. Peace.

  • is this a martin budy?

  • Hey....good job. Not perfect but a very good job......I appreicate your arrangment and now use it myself, keep it up

  • @wph00 Thanky you, my friend.

  • double drop C, is like

    C F C F A D?

  • @aederosion Not really. It's just double drop D with all strings tuned down one whole note. Like C G C F A C, I think! (-:

  • Well done, good arrangement.

  • @goldhat3 Thanks for comment. I'm honored you've taken the time to view my songs! I've watched many of your videos in the past. Thank you!

  • your guitar have a nice sound by the way i think you could have sped your lesson up a bit

  • @overban888 Thanks! That's one of my Yairi DY85's. They are great guitars. As far as the lesson, I guess I'm a little slow (in the head).

    Rick

  • @azcharlie2009 i don't think you're slow bythe way, just be more confident take care

  • Really good man.I can actually see wat ur playing i learned it thnx.Keep posting more vids.If u kno old man by neil young that be great

  • ... haha take 397 :) lol and thanks a lot.. i don't think this is the exact right way to play it.. but i like this way better LOL thanks so much man.

  • I don't think it sounded much different from the drop D tunning (not radically different, as some may suggest). I also don't like to retune my guitar every time I want to play something that uses a different tunning (having only one guitar limits things quite a bit), so I'm just gonna follow your lesson. Thank you very much!

  • @eezztarget Thank you for your comments and thanks for watching. You've got to love Neil Young!

  • ALVAREZ dy-90 or dy-91?

  • Neither. It's Alvarez-Yairi DY85. Thanks for stopping by.

  • I like your version. It's easy and sounds great. Your voice is very nice and your video very instructive. When I am playing, I like to run quickly from song to song, so having a standard tuning version is nice. I also play for myself mostly, so I don't care if isn't not exactly a NY duplicate. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Thank you for the kind comments.

  • Thanks for the comments. I do have another video in double drop D tuning, although I didn't do it in the key of C like Young. I did it in Ab, I think. Check it out.

  • I really don't like those chords - just doesn't sound right to me, especially that D. But you have a GREAT voice. Would love to hear you doing this cover in the drop tuning.
