what if there was a rotor that could send the quad down faster the the speed of gravity. would it make the quad more maneuverable over all. or if there was a set of frag bombs on board to disrupt the rotors while a ion thruster propels the quad down ward. ??? is it possible and or piratical
This gives me an idea for an ultimate brand loyalty test. Line up three micro helicopters like this and allow the public to choose one for testing. One will be made by Gm another by Dodge and this one made in Japan. Which one will you choose?
This this is realy cool, I still say people that fly these things are brave mother fuckers man, If that thing ever crashes from 3000 meters your a dead man
that jet pack with some kevlar, a bazooka, and a box of grenades. The possibility. Naw, Id opt just for a mag duece mounted under the seat with its own joystick.
@SmokeWeedEveryDay629 It needs the second rotor for counter balancing the rotational torque of the first rotor. The same reason full sized helicopters normally have a tail rotor and little RC helicopters have a second rotor. Without it it would spin at almost the same speed as the rotor just in the opposite direction.
Why Toyota or Nissan ar'nt building such engines ! I want the same one !
In my "unable" or handicaped person, that would promise me to go far and fast enough to join any point i have to, without any problem i allways meet in public transports ! I want same ! quickly ! Thanks.
@hillberg100 Dunno about autorotation, but it says right there: "It has four twin cylinder engines and can remain in the air even if two of the engines of malfunction. However, they have attached a parachute above the mast just in case...."
But if you're stupid enough to fly this and not look at your fuel gauge you deserve your Darwin Award, or at least to lose your pilot's license.
Saying that the tail rotor is obsolete is not correct. The first prototype helicopters from the germans in 1918+ were dual rotor counter-rotating. The tail rotor was always a sub-optimal design as far as lifting efficiency is concerned. Just because the tail rotor is commonly used doesn't make the dual rotor design something new which makes the tail rotor 'obsolete'.
...Honorable Inventor. If I could...I'd be flying...at this very moment! ...alas, I shall enjoy watching the fun from my med-bed on, 'U-Toob'... ...not unless there is a machine that'll make my hospital-bed fly...
It has four engines 10hp each. 80hp is the maximum power the rotors can handle (safety factor 2:1). According to their website the dry weight is 75kg and the maximum takeoff weight is 180kg so the payload is 105kg not 220.
Dual motor failure redundancy is impressive! I was actually going to ask if it could simply autogyro like a normal helicopter should the engine(s) fail.
@SPIKEZshuffle of course they are on the market FOR YEARS! That's why there's the official Gen Yanagisawa website posted on the damn video with price tag and all!
There are plenty of invigorating designs out there [mostly from independent entities] that aren't being developed for the masses. The powers that be simply aren't savvy to them. Therefore we still carry on with the same...old...thing.
@paul06101939 I saw some pictures of one of these being displayed at an airshow and the ballistic parachute was mounted to the top of the mast above the top rotor. Apparently both rotors rotate around a central stationary shaft. The diameter of the can holding the parachute appeared to be about 18 inches but I do not know that for a fact. I have heard that these have a difficult time in windy conditions. That would still be fine with me. Who wants to fly in bad conditions anyway?
I feel like playing some mini ninjas for no reason...

Where would you mount a parachute? placed how and where? on this unit.
And what would be the diameter and weight of the parachute?
This unit would only function well in perfect weather.
A wind gust could send you for a real loop and very hard to control, I would venture to say.
