  • i found out that you can use an cow elk call as a turkey call too it works just as good

  • woooowww i never thought of it like that thank YOU!!!!

  • i wish i was that good< i can make a turkey like sound though! haha!

  • Thanks for another great video guys! It's getting easier all the time :-)

  • I have watched a ton of videos trying to help, but none really worked. This helped me a ton! Thanks!

  • @pruitt0212 Excellent!!! ... Glad it helped ... best of luck puttin' it to the test this spring. Let us know how you do.

PS: Check out the new website ... TurkeyHunting247 ... I think you'll dig it.

  • thank you, very helpful!

  • thank you, very helpful!

  • There are so many diaphragm calls out there. There are double reeds, triple and 3 and a half reeds. How do I decide? What is the best sounding diaphragm call?

  • @lthome5 Unfortunately there is no such thing ... everyone's mouth is different, everyone runs a call different, and every call is different. You just need to get good at running a clean call ... then move on to the others and see what works best. Best of luck to you.

  • is there a difference between a regular diaphragm call and a hen diaphragm call or are they the same thing?

  • @ZamaSoldier almost all mouth calls are made to sound like a hen turkey. Although there are a couple on the market designed to sound like a gobbler, chances of finding one are slim. Good luck this spring.

  • I cant get it to work

  • where do i put my tongue???

  • @starr101010 Were it is comfortable ... you just need to have it in a position that will seal the call in your mouth and allow you to push the air over the reed without leaking air.

  • Why is Breastfeeding a Side link for this Video?

  • @raptorman120 LMAO!!! ... I've never seen that ... I could make some pretty funny comments on why that would be associated with a mouth call video, but I'm going to bite my tongue. That's messed up ... gotta love computers.

Best of luck this spring buddy. Hope the video helped ... my mouth call video that is ... LOL!!!!

  • i had mouth calls and never used them, then i watched your video and mastered it within a half hour

  • i like it. nice video

  • @crzyinsane04 cool ... they work great ... best of luck this year.

  • Yah, it kinda helped actually. Thanks!

  • How well do you like single reeds? that's what I have right now, not used to it, I sound a lot better on a normal double reed.

  • @playaninja1 SIngles can work, but you can't learn how the call works as well as you can on a multi reeded call. Good luck this spring.

  • lol.

  • Do you ever hunt Wisconsin???

  • Awesome! Excellent guidance :-)

  • great tips.. just bought a mouth call today and improving fast... Couple months until the season here in NY... Thanks

  • hey, im a true beginner when it comes to mouth calling ive always used a pot call. i just bought a clean double reed call today and i can yelp but not consistently, also i cant cluck what so ever do you have any tips on helping me be able to cluck. and also how long do you think it would take to become good enought on a mouth call that you can take it in the woods and call one in?

  • Glad the vid helped ... everyone learns at a different pace ... my recomendation would be ... listen to yourself by recording your calling ... then, only do what you can do well ... remember, you can call most birds in with just a yelp ... you don't need to get fancy. Good luck this season.

  • i come from a hunting family, but not many of us turkey hunt. ive loved it ever since i started about 5 years ago, but never started mouth calling till march 18, 2008...when i first watched this video. ive came a long way since then. just last week, i won the Virginia Southwest Region Youth Calling Championship for the 13-15 age group. i owe it all to you man. thanks alot.

  • Unreal ... that is SO fantastic ... CONGRAT'S!!! ... thanks for sharing that with me ... best of luck in 2010. Put that quality calling to work in the woods against the toughest judge of all. Good luck!!

  • thanks so much man. like i said. i owe alot of it to you guy(s). and good luck to you to buddy. im definitely looking forward to seeing your upcoming 2010 Spring Gobbler hunts! so are all my buddys here!

  • After 20 years of trying to get in my mind how to make my call sound right and the process to do so I have finally got it!!! Thanks!!! Time to get some hunting done!!!

    5/5 and Faved!!!

    -DUDE

  • Very Cool ... glad to hear that stuff. We've got more comin' this spring so stay tuned ... and best of luck in 2010

  • Thank you for this video. helped me!!

  • Would like to say that your video was very helpful to me in obtaining a proper sound...can't tell you how many chucks and yelps i have been though...once again, thanks.

  • Glad it helped out ... best of luck next season.

  • I bought a reed today watched this video, praticed all evening and I'm good to go! Thanks

I did trim my reed to give a better fit

  • Excellent ... glad it worked out for you ... best of luck ... and let us know how you do this season.

  • how do u make th long s sound?

  • It's just the sound of the letter S ...

  • nothing like hearing gobbles in the morning

  • I hear that ... !!!

  • why to turkeys gobble to crow and owl calls

  • Purely by reflex ... it's just a response to the sound ... they do it to vehicle backfires, car horns, cows, donkeys etc ... it's just what they do ... and it helps me out while in the woods so I hope they don't stop doing it ... good luck this season.

  • oh oh . now you gone & dunit. bunch good ol boys gonna put a green tarp over a piperack on thier 4ba4's , "BLIND", & rev them fords trying ta call in some toms. lol fan-freakin-tastic videos im learning sum. not much in the way of reeds out in hawaii.where can i get those & how much?

  • You can bye them online ... usually under $10 each.

  • pleaseadd me to your friends

    thank you for your help

  • i can't get the sound out of my call i sem to be using my throat and that's it. what do i do to get help?

  • Make sure your air goes over your tongue only ... like the "s" sound ... do not puff your cheeks. It's very important to focuss the air and not to have any leaks.

  • i dont now u are getting the same thing i probubly am

  • thanks bro you helped alot

  • Sweet !!! ... Good luck this season ... let us know how you do.

  • to purr you just have to gargle you mouth like your using mouthwash

  • Excellent video _ I wish I had seen this before I went out and purchased my other calls.

I went out and bought a clean call as you suggested and I had it down in 5 minutes.

PLEASE do one on purring and chirps - Thanks

  • were beginners at callin and we went strtaight for the expensives ones with all the gadgets on the reefs we should have went to the basic calls and began thieir we suck at calling, ty for the info we will start over.

  • Hey ... at least your heading in the right direction now. Good luck this spring.

  • This is the best explanation on how to use a mouth call that I have seen, thanks. Now it is practice time. I practice while sitting in traffic, people look at me strange but it works.

  • Glad it helped buddy ... best of luck in 2009 ... let us know how you do.

  • ive got the yelp down pretty good and i can get the quick cuts 75% of the time and i cant purr, any tips for purring and cutting?

  • I'll be doing some stuff on it later on ... in a week or so. Tough to explain like this.

  • thanks ill let you kno if i got anything

  • good vid but wen it comes to put the mouth call in i am having difficulty poeple say it wont work one way well it works both ways wen i use the mouth call so which reed should go on top the short one or the longer reed

  • Longer reed goes on top ... good luck this spring.

  • excellent i learned alot from this video im a just starting hunting turkey thanks for ur help

  • Glad it helped ... check out some of our other tips and videos as well ... good luck this spring.

  • Great technique there! It's rather hard to teach someone how to use a mouth/diaphragm call, but this is probably the best way to do so.

  • Thanks bud ... hopefully it'll help you next spring ... check out some of our other vids ... we've got a bunch up, and a lot more coming.

  • great vid thanks

  • Thanks man ... glad you like 'em. We've got more comin' ... Good luck this spring.

  • hey i just bought a mouth call and i really like your tips. but i still cant get us to blowing through it

  • It takes a little practice ... the seal has to be tight with no air blowing by except under the reed ... focuss the air over your tongue only ... good luck.

  • hey thank you so much for the help...

  • You got it man ... good luck.

  • thanks for the vid man it really helped. its turkey season here. i havent bagged 1 yet but i hope to change that this weekend or soon to comethanks to your vid

  • Sweet!! ... glad it helped ... let us know how you do ... good luck.

  • Thanks for the tips just got a new mouth call and am getting the hang of it. This will be my 2nd year turkey hunting and I hope to bag my 2nd Gobbler!

  • YOu got it buddy ... go get 'em ... let us know how you do ... good luck.

  • is a diaphragm mouth call better tan a push button call

  • I use all sorts of calls ... a box call has called more birds than any other out there ... although I like a slate or glass better ... then the pushbutton is great for one handed operation once the bird is in close.

  • i have a pengulum in the top of my mouth it is sort of like an expander only with no space above it how can i do a mouth call with it in and i cant take it out

  • Your guess is as good as mine ... the only thing I can recomend it try to make the best seal you can ... then really focuss that air over your tongue ... it's all about a tight air seal ... you may need to trim the tape on the call ... but not to much ... only do a little at a time until it fits without folding over ... those folds let the air pass and you don't want that ... good luck.

  • Nice instruction.love your videos!!

  • Thanks bro ... I'm hopin' it's just gonna keep gettin' better. Good luck this spring if your hittin' the woods.

  • Been T Hunting for many years and all I have ever used is nothing, no slate or mouth calls, just imitating calls with what God gave me and I always call'em in and harvest, BUT I really would like to try these calls and your vid is a good tool and thanks, let the new era begin...

  • Love hearin' stuff like that ... thanks a ton ... I've done the voice thing in the past as well ... I really do enjoy the challenge of using a call though ... kinda like an instrument and practicing to get better ... good luck to you.

  • does it matter if you have braces when using a diaphragm call?

  • It shouldn't ... nothing deal with the outside of the teeth ... it's all tongue pressure and sealing the call on the roof of your mouth ... good luck.

  • this helped my son out so much with the mouth call tommorrow will be his first turkey hunt ever and he wants to see if he can call in a big ol' gobbler his first time and be sucsessful on his first ever turkey hunt.....GREAT VIDEO!!!!

  • I can'tell you how much I love hearin' stuff like this ... There will be more comin' for sure ... and best of luck ... let us know how you do ... we love to hear it.

  • well he got one to come in but he never got a shot off at it...i was so happy yet so sad cause he almost got one....he was so close yet so far....o well....we are going next weekend...maybe he will get one this weekend

  • Sometimes those memories are just as strong ... it's all about the experiences ... pulling the trigger is a bonus ... keep it up ... and good luck.

  • thanks.......but yeah he was happy with just getting one in and knowing that he did it but next time he is gonna try to make sure that there is a few more shooting lanes cause he only had about one or two

  • At least he's learning from it ... good luck.

  • Thank you for this vid! This is my second year hunting turkey and I want to learn to use a mouth call.
