  • how dare anyone dislike this... who ever did tht is an asshole

  • The only thing that bothers me about this story is that they were already up by 20, yes I feel good for him and I'm glad he did what he did, but it was very unsportsmanlike to keep running up the score, and he said with 4 seconds left he shot up another 3? Your just supposed to hold on to the ball until time expires, isn't 5 threes enough? You can go and dislike my comment call me a rough asshole or w/e but how would you feel if you were down by 25 or whatever they were down by and with little

  • @JoshBroz Honestly I would not give a single fuck if they did that against our team when I played high school ball. It's just a game. Making a kid THAT happy is worth more than any basketball game.

  • 66 haters are hatin on this amazing kid

  • Anybody who dislikes this is a piece of shit.

  • love this vid

  • The proof is right there in front of you....Anything Can Happen...don't ever give up

  • They should just let the kid play he seemed to do better than half his team that game and came on the court late..

  • He should have been playing the whole season that coach a douche bag. Cause he has autism he gets to get the team water

  • Good story

  • Read both of my posts below in the order I intended before you rant at me...

  • All autism is at its core is an inability to figure out social things, often the logic side of the brain steps in and is powered up in order to compensate...

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. ~ Albert Einstein (suspected autistic)

Now, had this boy been in a wheelchair that had its wheels fall off at the other end of the court you would have something to talk about, but he could still run.

  • Unbelievably awesome story! Great job Jason, and good on all the students and his teammates who were obviously excited for him and routing him on. That's great to see!

  • How can people dislike this, this guy, never gave up on his dream and he fulfilled it, would have loved to have been in the crowd! Cheers to Russell Howard for putting this in his show. Amazing stuff!

  • Inspirational

  • His autism actually probably helped him. He had seen so much basketball that he had "recorded" a ton in his mind, and could see what he needed to do.

  • The best thing about this is that the other team runs down to congratulate him too.

  • This video is a favorite on Georgetown

  • Whoever disliked this.. I'm going to fight you.

  • Beautiful

  • Basketball never stops :)

  • Live a couple blocks away from J-Mac

  • Goosebumps that is all.

  • Destruction 1222, this is always 1 malcontent dickasaurus rex out there that likes to piss in a coffin just to get his or her jollies. I see it as a fitting tribute to their trip into loserdom. Don't sweat it.

  • :')

  • How do u dislike this cmon dude thats not funny at ALL

  • I love this story i have watched over 10 times and still tear up

  • seriously that kid is not normal 20 points in just over 4 mins is fucking amazing a normal person couldn't do that. just wow is all i can say, fucking amazing story to remember just amazing

  • I feel bad laughing when he said he was hot like a pistol

  • @RobyGonzo1 lol

  • what a buetiful story

  • just seen on Russel Howards good news, so touched

  • grown man tearin' up over here

  • How can 63 people dislike this! J-Mac shows you can do anything if you truly want to, true inspiration!

  • Why are we bothering to engage with the people making the negative comments to this vid? In their lives I doubt anyone sensible rates their opinion on any substantial issue, so why should we?

Ignore negative people - they drain the life...

Celebrate positive people - like the reactions of the crowd and players to a young lad hitting a inspired purple patch!!

  • Thank you Russell Howard for showing me this :)

Who seriously gives a stuff about the coalition and Sepp Blatter when we've got stories like these

  • I say well done to the students of the school, for accepting caring for and encouraging J-Mac. I can say that many school kids in this day in age would treat him horribly, I have seen many cases of this happening in my days of school. I wish all schools could be like this and care and respect their fellow student, no matter who they are and what walks of life they come from.

  • Amazing!

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • inb4russelhoward

  • just amazing ;')

  • If anyone dislikes this, they will burn in the eternal pits of hell

  • Praise God!

  • As a mother of a child with autism shame on you for calling him a "retard".

  • @sparklyandcute1 i apologize for the idiots comment you have read.

  • FUCK YEAH GREECE NY

  • Relax sheeple they exaggerate his disability to sell the story, also the coaches had an agreement before the game that the players on the other team would not defend the J-Mac kid so he had time and space to shoot.

  • Can you imagine being on the other team? "Oh man.. they were stomping our guts out so bad that they put this RETARDED kid in.. then we started getting stomped by this retarded kid..."

  • Why wasn't this RETARD starting?

  • Watching this, i feel like 18 years of decaying faith in humanity has just been undone in 5 minutes and 27 seconds :') Well done J-Mac

  • He's such an inspiration. Go out and chase your dreams.

  • Who the fuck would dislike this?

  • whoever disliked this should die

  • To the 61 people who clicked 'Dislike', please leave the internet now.

  • awsome dude!

  • Kudos to the coach. No other venue could have provided this type of story other than on the field of sports' competition.

  • whatta ledge :D

  • well done kid.

But what's so special bout this story?

  • @catlavmarwat Whats not special about it? A kid that has never played on the team, steps in with 4 minutes to go and blows everyone away with 6 three pointers. I dont think pointing out the fact he's autistic is right because he is just like everyone else in that regard.

  • @catlavmarwat Dude, catch up. I DO think the fact that J Mac is Autistic should be mentioned. I am among so many parents who are raising an Autistic child...in my case twins with Autism and my hope is that the public can be educated that Autistics are not retarted or slow; just with different neurological makeup and they are really intelligent. MOVIE!!!!!!! I wish I could exact life like this boy did in 4 short minutes, OY!

  • 61 people are retards

  • can you teach me ? D:

  • 61 people dont know what a gym is

  • There are 61 people who have no heart. Dead people suck.

  • Incredible.

  • my dad was a high school basketball coach before he died, watching this makes me wonder what he would've done in a situation like this

  • I want to...CRY ;) (snif)

  • Shoulda put the tard in earlier.

  • @VanderTheGreat Before you label this kids like that, you should take a day and go volunteer at your local high school. Be sure to request the handicap children. These kids will leave you with a whole new outlook about them and yourself.

  • Rudy don't got nothing on him!

  • I've seen this video so many times, but I never researched the kid after and I don't watch sports in general, so... anyway, I know he isn't "tall enough", but still... how did he not get a gazillion offers for sports scholarships and/or professional teams or something? I'd want hm on my team, if I were a coach/team owner...

  • @kmfrosta no, I think you mean "bawling". J-Mac is the one that's balling

  • 3:15 on the ticker.... Satan?

  • This really was the best piece on the story. I still tear up watching it.

  • Um...someone needs to give this kid a scholarship.

  • Im a High School Coach...seen this several times, and this makes me (a 6'5" 260 lbs man) cry every time I watch it, but is a GREAT reminder about what's important in life.

  • JNSDACIDSCSIVNVDIUN HOLY FUCK YAH!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wish schools in England afforded their less advantaged students this kind of opportunity!

What an EPIC story! Only just really surfaced here in England!

J-Mac = TRUE HERO and LEGEND!

  • Um...just...um...just cutting some onions over here. No, not crying.

  • The real hero here is COACH Johnson. He gave this youngman a chance, when many other coaches would have turned away, I'm sure....

I am absolutely thrilled for Jason and coach Johnson! What a blessing, what a wonderful lesson learned for everyone in this high school.

And yes, I too, balled my eyes out. BLACKEYERAT, I have no clue who cut the onions. :)

  • @LaniElkhart haha are you serious? The coach is a douchebag, he never let the kid play except for this one time.

  • @JonniDDR That's because the kid didn't make the team initially, the fact that the coach even gave him a chance was a blessing.

  • @JonniDDR ...

"Douchebags" don't give chances. They're too dang self-absorbed in their own world.

Coach Johnson did the right thing. He was fully aware this could have been an embarressing move, but he acted unselfishly, and placed J-Mac on the court. How many coaches/team members would take a chance? We already know you wouldn't be one of them...

  • @LaniElkhart actually this is HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS and everyone deserves a chance to play I would have let the J-Mac play the last couple minutes of most games.

  • I've watched this video 100 times and every time I do I think I cry more. What an unbelievable night this must have been. Hollywood couldn't have written a better script. I coach youth sports and a story like this reminds you of why I volunteer my time.

  • who cut the onions?

  • @stillfir3 Ur an idiot! I think ur the tard. Jason will always better than you! Dipstick!

  • You gotta know that the people in the gym that day will remember this for the rest of their lives!

  • amazing story, amazing person. keep it going JMac

  • Idiot coach who didnt let him play until that game..

  • @DWOY He wasn't a player. He was team manager. If anything, the Coach helped him rather than hurt him.

  • awesome story

  • wawww.. I crieid.

  • Jason McElwain completed his GED courses and plans to go to college, and has a part-time job at Wegmans Food Markets in Greece, New York. Occasionally, customers recognize him and ask for an autograph. McElwain also travels across the United States to help raise funds for autism research and to make media appearances. - from Wikipedia

  • this is perfect...even has my sonics winning a game on the espn ticker. RIP sonics. Can't stand OKC and their crap jerseys...that team should still be in seattle if it werent for kniving frauds. Anyways. Love JMAC!

  • Balling my eyes out.

  • @kmfrosta same bro ;)

  • @kmfrosta *bawling*

  • For those that say there is no God, Here is proof that he's there..

  • this kid has spirit like no other. wow, what an amazing kid he is!

  • hey guys, you ever hear of autism?

  • @americ3npi3 Yeah no shit, thank you for saying that. People can be such faggots.

  • @GOvolsROLLtide thank you sir.

  • j-mac is sick!!!!

  • it says high school but at 1:16 it says Greece Atheena Middle School

  • @nuhanovica123 Did you pay attention to anything

  • I'm crying right now, J-Mac should be everyones dream to acccomplosh wat he did and hes modest god bless Jmac

  • holy damn. that is incredible. i got the chills from watching that. I wish i could just witness an event like that.

  • Special kids are the best...

  • 7 for 13? Ouch. Step it up J Mac!

  • Never stop Believing that we got here by accident. The Lord anointed J Mac for his Big Day. I thank Jesus for J Mac he is a Blessing. Go J Mac :)

  • 60 people lost their souls

  • This is such as amazing story. This one really pulled at my heart strings.

It is incredible what can be achieved when you have faith and belief in yourself and in those around you.

This is one of those videos that I can watch over and over again.

No matter what your circumstance there is always a way to achieve your dreams and goals...

  • regardless of the extent of his disability this is a great moment for anyone, the fact of the matter is he drew his faith on the fact that he believed in himself even if others did not....

  • The coach is a jerk who wouldnt let gim play all season..

  • You can call me names, but I have facts, and you just have juvenile name calling. The facts about this story are that this kid is not that disabled and he's a douche. Everyone from Greece and Rochester knows that. The rest of you just see something on TV or in a video and believe everything you see because you're brainwashed by the media.

  • @JonniDDR I'm always confident when someone argues with an "everyone...knows" point...

WHY the vicious posting, JonniDDR? Jason certainly has issues (I am a pretty experienced mental health and disability professional, OK?), and he certainly appears to be on the spectrum - did you know that 30-40% people with ASD do NOT have intellectual disabilities? High-Functioning Autism or Asperger's? And part of this diagnosis is often multisensory problems, and obviously socialisation weaknesses.

  • @darrensilverman73 you are grasping at straws and technicalities to avoid admitting that there is more to this story than the mass media presents to you. The "more to this story" threatens an idyllic perspective of "an amazing thing happened to a disabled boy who is an angel".

  • @JonniDDR damn man you're real tight. i can't even put in words how much of a faggot you are.. you probably have more disabilities than him and he is not the douche...you are.. this is a once in a lifetime thing that happened and you can tell how loved he was by everyone in that gym.. so just sit the fuck down

  • @georgelopez451 such angry words & name calling, no need for that, the truth is, the media exaggerates the disability to sell the story, he's not that disabled, and the other team was instructed to lay off J-Mac and give him time to shoot so he could feel good about himself

  • @JonniDDR And you know this how? How sad for you.

  • @georgelopez451

yo douche bag why do we have to focus on this dude. There are so many others in this world worse than him so shut up. i mean we should be showing images from the Rwandan genocide (i know that you children don't even know what Rwanda is or genocide) and teaching children like you how that's bad. we can help people then not talk about disabled people. so lets do stuff not talk about stuff lets do it!!!

  • @Georgeshick1 yo douche bag. i do know what both of those things are and i'm not a child you fucking faggot. stop telling people what to do on youtube. it's just children like you that need to shut their damn mouths

  • @georgelopez451

Really, I need to shut my damn mouth? You are the one who has more comments than any one else I've seen on this video. Plus you call me a child, I've had better punctuation than you. and I'm not telling people what to do I'm suggesting what would be best. and just to add insult, I've just rebutted all you points so therefor i am a better debater than you which means i can do this back and forth all day and I'm smarter than you

  • @Georgeshick1 ooooo you have better punctuation than me!! you are such a douche

  • Comment removed

  • @JonniDDR sorry but your a douchebag

  • This is actually a pretty sad story. I wish he would have been treated like a regular functional kid rather than something to be kept apart. The coach had such little faith in him that he didn't put him in until it was almost guaranteed that he couldn't lose the game for them. It would have been a much better story had the coach had actual faith rather than cynicism.

  • George Washington didn't want the different parties... he said if we have different political parties.. it will bring down America. He was right. We are Americans first. Stop talking bad about George Bush or any other president. We have become divided. Stop playing the blame game. Every president has made mistakes and the American people have made mistakes too. Stop pointing the finger.

  • What an inspiring story, take a look at my interview with his coach Jim Johnson at the channel /salestips

  • Thumbs up with you went outside and start playing basketball after watching this video (:

  • i live in Brockport,NY

  • I typed in epic shooter...and it somehow lead me here.....he must be epic to a point where utube thinks he is epic

  • I meet him today and he is an awesome person and i love his personaliy. He is ALWAYS positive.

  • i have meet him and played basketball with him hes amazing

  • no shut up i went to snow valley he was my coach nd he is one of the greatest ive ever had if u think jmacs a dick then ur the biggest dumbass ive ever heard from in my life

  • i really didnt want to know that the kid was a douche...

  • @jodom91 moron! You are a good rationale for euthanasia, look it up, it's in the big book of words and their meanings. If you don't know where to find it ask your special helper.

  • What an amazing story! It gets me every single time. If we could all be this happy for one another's successes, what a beautiful world this would be.

  • j mac=my hero

  • u all wish u were on espn

  • That first 3-pointer at 3:07 gets me every time

  • There's no love button... :(

  • this was on boondocks

  • whatever happened to ricky?? John wallaces lil bro

  • reading the book now good stuff

  • this story should be next to the definition of the AMERICAN DREAM IN THE DICTIONARY! EVERYONE DREAMS OF THE CHANCE TO DO SOMETHING THEY LOVE TO DO. DESPITE HIS ODDS HE OVERCAME ALOT AS A CHILD.IF HE DOESN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD IN HIS LIFETIME, THIS WOULD STILL BE PLENTY OF A CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY! KEEP SHOOTING JMAC!

  • Avalanche beat the wild 4-2

  • haha ok if he was the leading scorer i kinda hope the coach feels like a dick... he shoulda put him in numerous other games, if not as a secret weapon. I mean jesus manager for three years and then its a "suprise" he is good? stupid ass coaches...

  • to all the trolls, clearly the kid was/is challenged. your peers are the best judge, especially in high school, and the entire student body had cutout faces of j mac rooting for him. Now try and tell me the kid wasn’t/isn’t challenged! To the rest, take solace in this…if people really don't have any appreciation for this story, then they HAVE TO BE miserable creatures. this is one of the best moments ever caught on video, period. being in that gym that day made people’s lifetimes.

  • this is so old the sonics are still there lol

  • @jordanjayhawk go sonics...

  • i heard they are making a movie about this does anyone know if thats true?

  • @JJman1345447 Im sorry you feel that way. No need to curse.

  • His autism is not really important. Our class valedictorian with 6 ap's was autistic. It's just wonderful that the coach put him in and the other team had the sportsmanship to let him shoot, even though they were down.

  • @JonniDDR yeeeeah im pretty sure you're 100% wrong. publicity stunt? get the hell outta here.

  • Why doesnt he have to wear a helmet? Isnt it dangerous for his kind to be competing with normal people?

  • @45doworkson i hope you die

  • @45doworkson he's autistic and can do everything a normal child can do physically. he doesnt need a helmet.

  • @hookerdreamz MOST NORMAL KIDS DONT HIT 6 THREEPOINTERS IN A GAME LET ALONE IN THE LAST 6 MINUTES!
