If you like this kind of prog rock, you should check out the band that inspired Sakuraba called U.K. They were a pretty short-lived band, but they made awesome music, not to mention that, after their guitarist left, they had the same lineup of just keyboards, bass, and drums as Sakuraba's band.

@NorthernDruid it was first heard in the game Star Ocean 2: The Second Story. it was the bonus dungeon music that played when you entered the cave. it was the ps1 game not the remake. thats the earliest form i know of. most other tri-ace games that have a bonus dungeon use this song too now. the original star ocean did not have this song playing when in the 7-star dungeon.

This song, along with the incarnation of teh Devil, is ALWAYS in the tri-Ace games extra dungeon (cave of trials, seraphic gate, bla bla). In Radiata the remix was quite different (maybe because sakuraba didn't do the music for that game?).

And Sakuraba didn't do the music for VP2 (which sucks), but you can still get to hear The incarnation of the Devil when fighting Iseria Queen!

Well, I have played through the entire game, and the Seraphic Gate, and I haven't heard it once. Not to mention it isn't listed in any of the VP2 soundtracks yet. Either your friend is lying, or it is hidden deep somewhere in the game.

To put it literally, the first few seconds lead in the same way for the Star Ocean 2nd Story and Valkyrie profile songs. Then there is a change to the 2nd story one after that, then after that piece it breaks to where both of them are similar. He mixed it around a lot. The song is practically identical in both games. It's his extra dungeon theme song essentially.
