I have same plans in near future. However; I will not tell my mother anything before diving. I hope you will know why will I not tell my mother anything !!!
@khalidshafishaikh Well, to paraphrase Mr. Dedijer, a BASE jumper -- and author of BASE 66, Mothers won't let us die in peace, and Mothers won't let us mutilate ourselves in peace; Haha! Of course, while I do not condone what you are thinking, right now, the fact is, I poured my heart out to my Mom, but until I jumped she did not really believe me.
@faisalhalim "Females' Scary Nature" is the reason why I dont like to say my mom anything ;)
Well I dont mind at all, mothers are right in some point; but what my experience says that unless to not take risk in the life; nothing is achievable. After all, jumping from plane is part of risk (no matter how much faith you have and keep from your instructor).
@khalidshafishaikh "Females' Scary Nature"? That sounds a little dismissive. Don't be so dismissive of your Mother, young man -- there may come a day when you will miss her greatly. A Mom is a Mom, and all the jokes about them not letting their sons live, die, or mutilate themselves in peace aside, they have their concerns for those whom they will always consider their babies. Anyone who has even helped raise a sibling will know something of that concern over the young one's activities. Cheers.

@khalidshafishaikh Tell me, what do you know about being brave and courageous? A friend of mine once asked me how I am able to do such 'risky' things as skydiving, but not stick it to my Mom. I told her that I am always a careful person. I know what I want to do, I find out, and acknowledge the risks, and then I go ahead with it. As for Mom, I simply do not wish to hurt her feelings and she may never want to understand why I do what I do. While I hate my Mom's guts, but BY GOD I Love this woman.
I'm doing my first ever tandem skydive tomorrow! Your video has gotten me even more excited! Go you! I hope I have as much fun as you seemed to have had :D
@95Goooner You'll be fine, as long as someone pulls the toggles (brakes) all the way down. Sliding down to a stop, from a shallow, high speed approach, made for a soft landing.
@motorcycledude1000 That was one of (apparently often used) pranks -- the pilot put the plane into a shallow dive, giving the feeling of zero g (freefalling -- and this is scarier than falling outside the plane).
Skydived yesterday for the 1st time! Amazing experience. I can relate with alot of what you wrote in your description.
I knew I would become addicted to this. The journey getting here was quite the experience, and now im definitely hooked. Getting my license by the end of summer!
You know this sport is for you if you don't feel an ounce of fear your first time. The only time I felt fear was as he was rocking me back and forth out of the plane. Other than that, purely enjoyed the adrenaline.
Yes!, It's Me, june/19/11, yesterday I did It and was Excellent, little bit of panic, it was hard to breathe, the pressure in the face amazing, but was an excellent experience.
@PAULOJCOSPINA Haha! Yeah, I know that feeling of panic, when they tell you to put your knees out of the airplane. Did you feel the panic at any other time? For me, the pressure against the face was okay. The only other time I really panicked (outside the airplane) was when the jumpmater first put us into an accelerating fall, in a death spiral. Of course, it was unnerving, watching the risers flutter in the wind, and realizing that I was being held up in the air by cloth and strings.
so i amm going skydiving soon and i have 1 question. is it hard to breathe on the way down? kinda like when u stick ur head outta the car window and there is to much air hitting ur face to really take a breath. this is really the only thing that has me a little bit nervous.
Very cool.I got a tandem jump for my birthday yesterday.Im very pumped but anxious at the same time.Looks amazing........IM REFUSING TO EVEN MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THOSE TANDEM ACCIDENTS TO THE RIGHT OF SCREEN....something that has to be done i think.
@motorcycledude1000 It's always important to know what could go wrong. The better you know, the better you can think about how you could possibly react -- that is my personal general rule, and it has served me very well at work, and at play. Be well, and enjoy yourself.

Nice Video dude!!! im plannin to do this for my 21st this sept, the huge plunge well drop from the plane down before the floating on the air bit seems a bit edgy but fuckk it i still wanna do this :D
Another question, when you were falling, did you get that feeling in your stomach that you get from those rides that drop really fast? or do you just feel like you're in water?
@freezinteen No sinking feeling. I felt a lot better than when floating on water (though I have a problem with water, so it might be the same for you).
@misterabuse Not yet. I want to have enough money and time set aside to go through the entire training for licensing, and to buy my own rig, before I go again.
Thanks. I never found out if my parents read the note, though. At the time I just needed someone to talk to, and better a wall than no one at all. It's very nice to know that someone read them, though. Hey, maybe, some day, my folks will, too.
Thank you for posting this. My first tandem jump is this August and I wanted to get an idea of what positions you have to hold while free falling and landing. Your Camera person did an excellent job filming this.
I'm glad you liked it. I liked it very much, and my description here (and on the slow motion version) detail a lot on my experience, and my motives. Just, don't freak your jumpmaster out by telling him you want to BASE jump :-)
I could try to tell you how it was, but you may never truly understand my words without having jumped yourself. I have described the action between the third and fourth dividing lines in the description of this video. Please do post a video response to mine when you jump!
i want to do this soo bad! im scared of heights so i want to over come that. i would imagine that if i could just force myself to jump then i would love it. how did you like it?
I felt very vulnerable when my jumpmaster loosened the straps, just after deployment, to ensure I was comfortable up there, I nearly freaked out when at one point I looked down and saw a swimming pool way below me (I REALLY, REALLY don't like water, in a strange way), and I nearly shuddered on seeing a riser fluttering in the wind, but other than that, I LOVED it! Freefalling, itself, was like resting on the most comfortable mattress in the world! Your crew will handle the jump, so don't fret :)
If my video helps encourage someone in an act that will raise money for a good cause, then I am overjoyed. Until now, I had thought that I was the only one who got any religious benefit out of this: the benefit that setting out to perform this act got me praying for about 4 hours (actually, I was reciting Ayat-al-Kursi for 4 hours, including on the plane ride up, as you can see in the video).
I am very happy that my video will will help more people than who watch my video.
Heheheh! If it doesn't open, then he deploys the reserve parachute (having that reserve is a legal requirement in most, if not all, countries) :-)
I don't know the stats for the UK, but according to the HowStuffWorks website, you are more likely to die from a traffic accident, than from a skydive. You can check it out.
As for bravery, I do recall being too scared to look down, once they opened the door of the airplane :-) You should try it!
Jumping off an 8 feet high wall was scarier, though!
I was a little disappointed, man: I was hoping to get scared, and feel that I was maintaining a precarious balance in the box formation. I guess I'll have to go for a license to feel that kind of excitement. This was at the Poconos, in Pennsylvania, USA.

Great to hear that! I, too, agree with you, but I must say the first second or two are very hard to remember, with previously unknown experiences happening so fast. Jevto Dedijer has written that few people remember the first few moments of their first skydive, and I am in the majority group. Even during the first moments of the fall in this (later) video
watch?v=oZHUtc7SmyY
I remember very little of the first moment.
So, do you actually remember those first few seconds? Please share your story!
I remember it all really vividly. Firstly they strapped the harness on much too tight so I was very nearly a eunuch! Secondly I remember the plain ascending and then I recall being a bit worried and nervous. When the doors opened I remember not wanting to do it, then hanging over the edge I looked down and was so scared I closed my eyes. Then I dropped out and I remember it being such a surreal sensation and then I just remember falling then chute opening.
Yeah, I watched your video as soon as I read your comment. I really enjoyed it! It's great that you remember the first few moments of the fall. In my case, the pilot rolled the plane, and we just rolled right out, my JM holding my head down (very unexpectedly!). I did not realize what was happening until we were out of the airplane, and I was looking for my camerawoman. You'll find the rest of the story after the third dividing line in the description (yeah, I know, I should have used a blog!).
so like its not like a rollar coster when you have a funny feeling in your stomach and it has a tickle to it.... but skydiving is it like a slow falling somethin like that....is it fun?????
Sorry for the wordy description, but here is the part you would be interested in:
"the feeling of the wind hitting me at 90 mph, the moment I left the plane, deprived me of that feeling that I was going down without any support."
