I remember seeing this on HBO around '82-'83 when I was around six years old. I remember thinking you could reach China if you dug deep enough because of this movie.
Hey, isn't that the same guy from 'Crimebusters', another movie of this type from that era? He and his big partner kicked much ass! Remember the fight in the football field?
This movie was a staple of HBO from between 1981 and 1984. As a few commenters have previously stated... HBO would show this, Star Wars, Animalympics, and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at least 3 times a day. Anyway... Now lets talk about the theme song, shall we? :)
used to watch this one on HBO back when I was 8. Wasn't there some gimmick where he got stronger when he saw the color red and when he saw blue he got weak again? am I making that part up?
My father had a recording of this picture on Betamax.
Of course, the cassette is in poor condition, so it's replaced with a DVD copy.
This film was produced by an Italian production company with an Italian actor as the lead (Terrence Hill is a pseudonym), but American actors were, of course in the film as well (Ernest Borgnine in the supporting role and Marc Lawrence as the antagonist).
The picture was filmed in Miami, Florida; the grocery store in the attempted robbery scene is a Publix.
this movie is the shit. his only weakness is if he see's the color red he loses his powers. i was an infant when this movie came out but it use to come on tv and i watched it then. maybe i was 11 or so. when they re-release this on dvd im buying.
I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and loved it!!! Yet, oddly...I do not remember seeing one thing from the movie I just saw in the trailer....
HAHA... i love how when we described this movie to people they thought we were making it up.... SUPER SNOOPER.... i always thought they said SUPA SUPA......
Wow... totally forgot about this movie until I was talking with my wife and she said something like "Super super!" and it cracked that mental block like a hole in a dam. Remembered the song, him mixing the meringue and it stirring by itself, and blowing a huge bubble with the old guy from Airwolf... omg forgot about that one too.
Man, I'm with you guys on this. I used to think Superfuzz and The Greatest American Hero were the same guy. My friends in high school thought I was lying when I told them about watching this movie. Man I need to see this again.
I feel we're all part of a real life Close Encounters where people from all over America remember seeing this movie but just aren't sure if it was real or a collective hallucination on a massive scale. For years, I keep thinking I've seen Super Fuzz and I keep thinking I loved it. Now it all makes sense. It was 1981 and my family had just gotten cable and it was the only movie they played. What a relief to know I wasn't hallucinating the whole thing.
This is so wierd . for years i thought i imagined this movie . and when i just thought of it and looked it up the comments are exactly the same. when we had cable this was on all the time
yeah i typed in Super Fuzz to see if it was the name of the movie. i remember watching this back in the early 80's when i was a kid. i remember this movie was funny as hell, i would buy a vcr just to watch it again
Wow, I second the motion...I've had that goofy music stuck in my head forever and just got the wild notion of looking it up tonight and here it is. Distinctly remember the bullet in the teeth clip.
@soopahsoopah You are soooo right about that, but I have to admit that I watched it as many times as I could too. lol The days when HBO, Showtime and Skinemax were all there were. Welcome aboard the nostalgia train. =D
all right, some of my favs were hot stuff, super fuzz, animalympics, dot and the kangaroo, midnight madness, also does anyone remember the mouse and his son???
HBO use to play this movie and Popeye all the time if you missed them during the day don't worry you will see them at night right after that HBO logo finish flying in space boom! on the tv like clock work. kinda like nick at nite do there programing now
Speaking about Popeye, that movie was good. Only if they can do a remake today todays technology and have all the characters in it including the goons, his nephews, the seahag, and the jeep.
I remember watching this movie as a kid on cable, my mom saw it and got me to watch it and it was one of my favorites. I remember loving Mega Force too as well as Delta Force. Watching this movies now you see just how cheesy and bad they were but they are still fun.
I'm old too! I was 9 when I saw this movie in theaters, then I watched it on cable. I haven't seen this years movie on VHS or DVD yet. There still alot oft movies that need to be released on DVD.
There is another movie that I saw as a kid but I don't remember the title. It's about a family from space and had a green monkey and the only powers I remember is that they turn invisible when they hold hands and hold their breath. And this line in the movie "I think it's jackass honey" Know this one?
I've been trying to remember the title of Mega Force for years. Everybody I talk to about it looks at me like I'm high when I mention the flying motorcycles. Thanks for proving I'm not crazy.
Awesome stuff. Last aired in July of 1984 on HBO. I still have the tape. Also remember Saturday the 14th. Anyone remember TAG the Assassination game staring Linda Hamilton and Robt Carradine? Same time as these.
yeah ur riht ive got european version doesnt seem like the real voices.. but then i heard the ameican version is same.. i think the original was in italian
I loved Super Fuzz AND Saturday The 14th (especially the bathtub scene). What memories! I also remember Hysterical and Dot And The Kangaroo as being another two of my favorite movies of that time.
even cheesier they were flying on it like a hot air balloon. I always remembered Ernest Borgnine licking it and figuring out that it was bubble gum and thinking yuck. well I was like 4 so you know.
I know what you mean. I don't know if I was more disgusted with Borgnine licking something that was already in someone else's mouth or just watching Borgnine's tongue flapping around. He is, after all, a very good looking man.
Geez, I've been trying to google this forever because the memory was haunting me! Leave it to Youtube to be the only search engine that picks up on the keywords. I watched this movie like 100 times on HBO when I was a little girl. Aww, memories!

Haha!! Funny how Super Fuzz and Midnight Madness seem to go together. Those are my two childhood favorites as well. I think there's something to your heavy HBO rotation theory.
