Embryonic Stem Cell (ESC) has been tried and failed miserably. The debate is a fraud -another Liberal government spending program.
Rather than use sick celebrities as HUMAN SHIELDS to shill for more government functionaries to spend more tax money, let the real experts (industry researchers, industry leaders) keep working on ... what's working - the non-baby-meat stem cells - EIGHTY CURES to date, and no humans harvested.
The days of the liberal monopoly on media is over. Of course YouTube may decide to ban this video like they did to Michelle Malkin. I'm sure liberals are already flagging the heck out of it as inappropriate. You know, hate speech... because they don't agree with it... and because it's true.
Adult stems cells are the way to go. Taking life to save life is wrong. Thank God for celebrities with brains. Celebrities with brains thats funny. Only if there on the right. Good for them.
Kudos for these celebs for not being afraid to speak out against the typical Hollywood garb. LA-LA land is becoming so Stepford...sheep following blindly to whatever crap is 'in' at the moment.
Refreshing to see some people who have not only the brains, but the braun to speak their minds!
YOu dumb americans . There is no GOD and you are making people suffer becouse of this ridiculous moral discussion. I see no difference btw you and Osama bin laden.
Finally, some celebrities with brains. And they're not trying to convince us just by using their star power like the loony lefties do. They're just giving us the facts.
there has never been one cure from embryonic stem cells(which require the death of humans), but multiple cures from adult stem cells which don't require killing a person. Embryonic stem cells caused cancer in rats they were injected in. This was published in a medical journal the day before MJF came out with his ads. No one covered that story!
Wow, I'm now adding a whole bunch of stars on my list of people who are not Hollywood and Political dumbheads...kudos to all in the video who have the courage to stand up for what they believe in.
I am thrilled to see sports and entertainment celebs taking a non-PC stand! I am diabetic, I have three diabetic daughters and my father has Parkinson's disease. If anybody should want this change it should be me. Don't vote for this.
Excellent, about time the misrepresentations are taken head on. Facts will prevail, lies and emotions will fail. Ever since CBS went down, people see the liberal media for what they are.
Remember when Edwards said if Kerry/Edwards won, that Christopher Reeves would walk again? The Dems try to insinuate that Republicans want everyone to be lame or diseased--? What, do they think they have the corner on compassion??
Excellent response to the obviously staged ad by MJ Fox. Typical exploitation by the left. Kudos to the Hollywood/Sport celebs for speaking out against the liberal agenda.
Democrats accuse Republicans are outlawing stem-cell research which is totally false. As much private money as anyone wants to invest is still available. This is another fear campaign from the left. Good on the truth tellers.
Why was my factual...non-controversial but informative response posted several minutes ago deemed inappropriate to print...Possibly not enough liberal comments to offset more intelligent conservative comments like mine....One has to wonder...
The video of MJ Fox entering the dem. press conference prior to taping the 'controversial video' shows him walking, talking, shaking hands, etc. with little or no evidence of 'involuntary movement' 'shaking or trembling'...at least not until the video commercial begins taping...Terrible disease...Contemptable to exploit it & the people who are inflicted with this disease for obvious political purpose.
LOL it seems that anytime liberals run out of things to say they call Republicans Nazis. sorry, but that line has been used over and over and over. Stem cell research isn't illegal so there's nothing stopping private companies from research. Most republicans are opposed to the federal funding of stem cell research. If you want stem cell research so bad, tell companies to do the research and give them money for it.
The point is that we don't want our tax dollars going toward this research, not that we want to prevent you from receiving the treatment. What's wrong with private investments toward this research?
An amendment to the constitution for medical research? That's crazy. Besides, if a medical technology has potential to cure a disease it will attract private investors like flies, and doesn't need govt support. This is about abortion, not curing diseases.
If anyone wants to dig in their pocket and send a check or checks to help firms pay for research, what is stopping them? Anyone, anyone? But don't ask Uncle Sam, or you and me via taxes, to have to fund it.
Our budget is blown already, we have tons of debt. Get govt. out of the business of doing services best left to the private sector.
LOL...that's like saying, "You can't talk about any wars unless you were in the military." Do you trust doctors who talk about this issue who don't have the disease? Hmmm...Your logic is flawed.
Ummmm, Hitler had Parkinson's. Just because a person has a disease doesn't guarantee their virtue! I've known some very honest, virtuous healthy people! Diseases such as you mention can also cause a person to become very desperate.
Has anyone noticed how much more exaggerated Michael Fox's symptons appear in his democrat stem cell political commercial than they do in any other recent appearances?
The two adds clearly show why Libs keep losing elections. Their add uses feelings and lies, while the counter add uses facts. Liberals feel, Conservatives think.
Fact: Michael J. Fox LIED in his ad about the Senator's position. Fact: Michael J. Fox has admitted openly that he has intentionally NOT taken his medication in order to help people "feel" what he "feels" FACT: Michael J. Fox's OWN RESEARCH FOUNDATION just gave OVER ONE MILLION BUCKS to a totally NON-stem-cell-related and VERY promising technique to help Parkinsons' victims and should KNOW that is more likely to produce results and produce them quickly than any kind of stem cell research.
Despite what Fox and a handful of elitest politicos would have you believe, this research is NOT illegal. Why then, if there is such overwhelming promise for this, isn't Merck, and Pfizer and Abbot and the like in full scale R & D? Why aren't there a number of private donors (say Soros, Clinton, & McCaskel) putting their money where there mouth is?
This is political bullshit masking abortion issues and Fox thinks these power hungry liars CARE about him. Good Grief!
SO in order to take a stand you have to have an affliction? Do you know whats right and wrong even if it may not benefit you? It isn't always what makes it better for you, rather just what's right and fair for all.
Personally, I don't give a shit, you want to clone, fine by me. In fact I want a clone that I can harvest organs from if I need to, but I will be voting against this (I live in MO). Why? Because liberals want it.
Has M.J. Fox died because of the research? Well, women have died in the process. So ... it looks like it's killing innocent people already. Nice research ... the Nazi's did research like that!
Liberals are at war with America. They desire an amoral secular state where they can have unlimitted abortion, perversion and any future debauchery immaginable. Nothing is wrong to the average godless liberal. The far left Democrats support cloning and anything else as long as they can see some possible selfish benefit for their own carcasse.
People don't seem to realize how simple this issue is. On the one hand, you have a so called "baby" that half of us don't even think is alive and no one has ever heard of. On the other hand, you have Alex P. Keaton. Come on, the choice is obvious.
Michael J. Fox Admits in his book that before doing politcal ads and interveiws he doesn't take his med to control his tremors. He's allowing himself to be whored out to bums like Claire Mc Caskell are willing to Lie blatantly to the Missouri voters hoping they are not smart enough to know that stem cell research is currently legal and being performed in Mo. This is about cloning
Parkinson shaking can be cured with brain surgery to control the tremors. Wonder why Fox hasn't spent the money to get the surgery? Oh that's right, he couldn't be a tool for the Left then.
ummmmmm...maybe Michael should do some research. Adult stem research is better than using and killing potential babies. Plus, they want GOVERNMENT sponsored research because no one will pay for pie-in-the-sky research like Fox is claiming...10 years? no way!
Michael J. Fox is not infallible. The left USES him just as they do any other victim, to further their agenda. It's not like you liberal idiots actually care about Fox. He's just a convenient tool to you swine.
Now, now, everybody! We all know the rules. When the Liberals parade around the latest victim, no one is allowed to criticize that person. After all, they are victims. They are beyond reproach. They have a right to their own "facts". They can say any false idiotic nonsense they choose. And we have to just sit back and take it; lest we do something cruel and inhumane like question them.
Thanks for Sharing the Truth about Amendment 2. Many are being deceived by this amendment which FORCES taxpayers to pay for cloning. Read the fine print. It is another deceptive tactic to make Missourians fund cloning without their Knowledege. Vote NO to amendment 2!
So, thousands can be killed or injured for the selfishness of some actor who has an unfortunate disease WHICH is MORE likely to be cured with adult stem cells.
I don't get the comment about if these athletes have parkinson disease. This is a statewide vote. Do only people with Parkinson disease have the right to be part of this Democratic vote? That isn't logical anyone can make a statement. If you are swayed merely by the health of person then you are missing the point of the debate.
LOL - You are so right - are they going to throw Hillary at us? Hope so! Barack is being practically forced out at this point. We with some type of moral standards may come out at the polls this time in numbers unfathomable. Most of the Liberals, Harvard educated or not, just don't seem too bright!
Just because a man is sick it doesnt mean that he is right. Usually its the opposite. He is emotionally involved with the issue and therefore might be slanted because of it. Im sure Fox is doing this with the best intentions but that doesnt make him the expert. And for someone who is dealing with it but is not buying into the liberal slant is Mitt Romney, governor of MA. his wife has multiple sclerosis yet he still feels morally obligated to vote against stem cell research.
Very nice ad. The Fox ad is misleading. MO is not trying to stop stem cell research, just the harvesting of embyros for this purpose. I feel for M. Fox, but more so for exploited women and unborn children who are treated as if their lives are nothing. I have new respect for these celebs.
But Michael J. Fox blatantly lied in the ad. And yes, "stem cell research" does have the glimmer of hope of treating a lot of diseases but NOT embryonic stem cell research. Moreover, you didn't listen to this ad - it was about human cloning. Pay attention and be honest.
Good for Heaton, Caviezel and the others for having the courage to speak out against this shameless, barbaric exploitation of human beings. Sorry, Michael J., but there are many who live with Parkinson's and lead productive lives without having to resort to "clinical canabalism" or trafficking human beings in the name of "science". Adult stem cell research has not only had actual successes in treatment, but also no "collatoral damage". It's time to stop exploiting women and children.
Fox was moving, but his words NOT honest. He spoke a/i ESCR is successful (not so far)& ai it's illegal to use ESC (Labs can use all the PRIVATELY FUNDED ESC's they want)Sad 4 Fox, but his illness doesn't give him license 2 misinform. If u say that cuz Fox is "living it" he has absolute authority...he doesn't have authority to distort truth, any more than a victim of mugging can pursue vigilantism.Fox's own foundation says ASCR shows promise w/Parkinson's.Readup. Vote on reason, not emotion.
I empathize with MJF but the fact is there are no cures being generated by any stem cell research. Charles Krauthamer is a conservative pundit and a physician who is also confined to a wheelchair. He has emphatically echoed this same view. As a physican AND a victim of neurological disorder he speaks with much more authority on this topic than MJF. That doesn't mean the research can't continue to move forward. But there are others ways progress without bilking the taxpayer.
Facts are facts, embryonic stem cell research doesn't work. Adult stem cell research, on the other hand, does. Vote no! Human farming for the health of others is wrong.
Trust Michael J. Fox? Didn't he admit to going off his meds so that his tremors would be in full swing when he made public appearances?
Obviously, MJF desires that a cure be found, but he's bought into the propaganda that says stem cell research WILL lead to cures, when that's just a fantasy.
The cult of death on the left has duped desperate people like Michael J. Fox, and in turn he, like Christopher Reeve, is attempting to dupe the public on their behalf.
I just love how liberals pull out the Jesus card whenever it's convenient for them... You libs think you're immune from criticism on any issue just because you have no principles yourself.
As far as the elections go.. I'd almost like for you libs to win so we don't have to LISTEN TO YOUR WHINING for the next 4 years!!
How do YOU know about the Jesus aspect of Christianity?
This is about TAX DOLLARS funding it! Your talking points skew the issue - private funding of stem research - no problem, but I don't want my tax $ there. How long have we been waiting for/promised cures for cancer/HIV (remember "25 years tops"?). Sure we've made progress, but it's a LONG task, as with stem/cord research - it's not just around the corner as proponents say! Markets will push private industry to greater funding when the likelihood of success increases
I think this commercial is fantastic. Freedom of speech is awesome. Who says the Missouri taxpayers have to pay for someone else's faint hope?? Only liberals.
Thats a bad argument. I'm could be against child abuse without ever having been abused. I could be against the KKK without being black. Now you have to have Parkinson's to be against a specific research that uses human embryos? WTF?
Dont vote for that deception. Democrat false promises of cures for all diseases if they can just destroy more life. Havent they had enough with the 48,000,000,000 abortions in America since 1973 Roe v. Wade?
No problem, you want to destroy life, that your choice. Don't use my tax dollars to do so. And please stop promising the sick and the lame, that they will walk again "if" we use embryonic stem cells.
As a resident of Kalifornia -- the ad is correct. It is sad to lead deperate, ill people on to believe that stem cell is the "CURE" -- Even the scientist disagree and are not as optimistic. They can use cord blood cells and even adult stem cells first.
Too bad for twitchy Fox, we aren't going to kill babies to feed his hellish appetite. He shouldn't have snorted so much coke if he didn't want the parkinson boogie.
I love liberals: Michael Fox knows, he has a disease. The Missouri initiate is a scam. He passed it in California (where Michael lives) and no cures yet!!!!
Fox is in a world of hell. He has my heartfelt sympathy for his suffering and my admiration for his strength through his adversity. However, he is wrong about this. Despite the valid argument re: government's role in curing a disease that hits a few of its citizens, real scientists agree that embryonic stem-cell research doesn't work.
BUT, there is promise in the non-controversial ADULT stem-cell research.
So the only trustworthy sources of information are those coming from people with a personal vested interest in a situation? Try debating the issue at hand instead of resorting to fallacious arguments.
This is a fine rebuttal to the outright lies of the Fox ad on this topic. NO WAY is Jim Talent trying to criminalize ANY scientific effort. Stem cell research continues unabated in Missouri. Shame on McCaskill for yet another series of lies.
Why does MJF think it's ok to kill another human in order to extend or improve his life? I live in MO & the amendment would constitutionally protect the right for researchers to destroy human embryos as long as it was w/n the first 14 days of life. Each of us were once 14 days old. Killing other humans isn't justified by the mere possibility of medical advancement. There are no guarantees & there is nothing to suggest that the same cures can't be discovered w/ adult stem cells.
You just proved Anne Coulter is correct in her theory that liberals USE people like Cindy Sheehan, Michael J. Fox, and the WTC sisters because they know they can play the "You didn't have" card on anyone that questions their opinion. If I question Cindy Sheehan's bogus comments, Supaboys would say "You didn't lose your son in Iraq".
We are just as entitled to our opinion as anybody else in this world. Get used to it. Get used to losing elections too.
Amendment 2 actually creates legal protection for human cloning. It only outlaws reproductive cloning, which no one in Missouri (or anywhere else on earth) is doing.
It protects anyone who wants to clone human beings for science experiments. Amendment 2 glosses over the issue of lab-created human life with complicated phrases like "Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer."
Amendment 2 is misleading in that it appears to put stem cell research in the Constitution and to ban human cloning, but the fine print creates a right to do somatic cell nuclear transfer, cloning, which is the scientific term for cloning, the same method used to clone Dolly the sheep.

DemocRATs always pull the Nazi card...right after they abort their babies, are responsible for killing hundreds of thousands in Cambodia, etc.
nodem2 5 years ago
Parkinson shaking can be cured with brain surgery to control the tremors. Wonder why Fox hasn't spent the money to get the surgery? Oh that's right, he couldn't be a tool for the Left then.

See...even Jesus is a republican.
Chucktallica101 5 years ago
ummmmmm...maybe Michael should do some research.

He's just a convenient tool to you swine.
fafoo 5 years ago

So, thousands can be killed or injured for the selfishness of some actor who has an unfortunate disease WHICH is MORE likely to be cured with adult stem cells.
tromba99 5 years ago
I don't get the comment about if these athletes have parkinson disease. This is a statewide vote. Do only people with Parkinson disease have the right to be part of this Democratic vote? That isn't logical anyone can make a statement. If you are swayed merely by the health of person then you are missing the point of the debate.
Mrlogos 5 years ago
YOU don't need to have a disease to have input in a state wide election. Should people the only people allowed to vote have a disease?

Plenty of private cash is being spent on this activity already. Why in the world we need the government to get involved, ugh.

Vote on reason, not emotion.
agirlforbryn 5 years ago
I empathize with MJF but the fact is there are no cures being generated by any stem cell research. Charles Krauthamer is a conservative pundit and a physician who is also confined to a wheelchair. He has emphatically echoed this same view. As a physican AND a victim of neurological disorder he speaks with much more authority on this topic than MJF. That doesn't mean the research can't continue to move forward. But there are others ways progress without bilking the taxpayer.

He passed it in California (where Michael lives) and no cures yet!!!!
wjgross 5 years ago
Fox is in a world of hell. He has my heartfelt sympathy for his suffering and my admiration for his strength through his adversity. However, he is wrong about this. Despite the valid argument re: government's role in curing a disease that hits a few of its citizens, real scientists agree that embryonic stem-cell research doesn't work.
BUT, there is promise in the non-controversial ADULT stem-cell research.
BTW, egg harvesting hurts like a BITCH!

This is a fine rebuttal to the outright lies of the Fox ad on this topic. NO WAY is Jim Talent trying to criminalize ANY scientific effort. Stem cell research continues unabated in Missouri. Shame on McCaskill for yet another series of lies.
Standlow 5 years ago
Why does MJF think it's ok to kill another human in order to extend or improve his life? I live in MO & the amendment would constitutionally protect the right for researchers to destroy human embryos as long as it was w/n the first 14 days of life. Each of us were once 14 days old. Killing other humans isn't justified by the mere possibility of medical advancement. There are no guarantees & there is nothing to suggest that the same cures can't be discovered w/ adult stem cells.
mizzouboy 5 years ago
Supaboys,
You just proved Anne Coulter is correct in her theory that liberals USE people like Cindy Sheehan, Michael J.
OKCubsFan 5 years ago
Text from the actual amendment, as if anyone cares:
(1) No person may clone or attempt to clone a human being.
(2) No human blastocyst may be produced by fertilization solely for the purpose of stem cell research.
ttennebennett 5 years ago
Amendment 2 actually creates legal protection for human cloning. It only outlaws reproductive cloning, which no one in Missouri (or anywhere else on earth) is doing.
It protects anyone who wants to clone human beings for science experiments. Amendment 2 glosses over the issue of lab-created human life with complicated phrases like "Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer."
jfogliasso 5 years ago
Amendment 2 is misleading in that it appears to put stem cell research in the Constitution and to ban human cloning, but the fine print creates a right to do somatic cell nuclear transfer, cloning, which is the scientific term for cloning, the same method used to clone Dolly the sheep.
