  • let the 0 dislikes prevail

coz it aint hard to tell

nas n AZ rocked it well

  • Cant wait for lost tapes pt 2.

  • Ummm, who them other folks say was the greatest MC??? This is like 10 or 12 yrs old and just listen to the technique of Nas style. I know this is nothing new and of course there were other great and perhaps greater MC's before him with the same impact (i.e. Melle Mel, Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS One, etc...) Nas is the Truth!

  • This is the first song i've ever seen with 0 dislikes, as it deserves

  • wtf biz markie was just going around having freestyles in the early 90s?

  • Nas tore it down on this...

  • haha sick

  • "understanding is having the ability to see things clearly for what they are and not what they present themselves to be" Az..ill lyrics and deep insight what more can you want from the guy?

  • yup i do remember this dj clue and duro had this

  • aint this one of those tracks off nas' demo tape?

  • Absolute classic. That chorus is a masterwork.

  • sick

  • nas got sick ass flow but on the topic of nas and az an the compariosion i feel that az in lifes a bitch then you die killed that track in that verse but nas came real hard too

  • i dig

  • YYYEP. 5/5

    support real hip hop.

  • The charlie wilson singing understanding sample, is from what song?

  • Fordo35 i agree AZ is good but NAS is incredible

  • @fatkid187 Just to clarify, I wasn't saying AZ is worse than NaS. I was saying that it makes very little sense to say that AZ's flow (singular, implying that he only has ONE) is better than NaS's (ONE flow) when they both use different flows.

Yeah, ppl could say that they both have a certain overall style, but they'd also have to recognize how much their styles changed over time.

And besides, how can you REALLY say one style is better? How?

  • nsaone you are a ho azz nigga

  • dis aint real hip hop im real hip hop

  • nas is best rapper, he just can't advertise himself like jay-z

  • People always say we still have Underground hip hop but underground isnt as good as Mainstream 90's. Where hip hop was at its finest..

Hip hop needs to come back to mainstream for it to be alive..

  • At that time in the nineties the poor were oppressed by mayor Guiliani, thus God brought a great good out of something bad=Hip Hop! the revolution is over holmes although I'd rather listen to the pioneers over and over than somethin on the radio...Damn even Hot 97 sold out:(

  • Giuliani = 94 and on

Hip Hop manifested itself mostly during Ed Koch's days.

  • Mayor Koch wasn't bad though....but then again this was in the 80's...during the Ronnie Reg era!!

  • Nah, I feel you. Shit, Jran007 too

I was just talking about this, in relation to like the years, the timeframe:

"At that time in the nineties the poor were oppressed by mayor Guiliani, thus God brought a great good out of something bad=Hip Hop!"

I agree with Jran that the pioneers are the shit. Yo, J! Whatchu mean by the revolution is over? Which one? The on in the 70s? The one in the 80s? 90s?

Shit, there been a lotta revolutions in this world of ours.

  • lil wayne now represents what happens when a nigga gets fame. He gets arrogant, and thinks he can do anything

  • gods son

  • i heard this song being played when i was 8 years old but didnt know what it was until a few years back ago when i was 15 lol

  • yo i just want to say, As a youth coming up hip hop culture has manifested an ill mindstate within alot of us, perhaps not all of us, seeing some bitches feel the need to bicker back and forth about whos the king of hip hop, what about the gza ? rza ? meth ? canibus ? dre ? snoop ? shut the fuck up and enjoy the music you fuckin tools

  • ill settle this right now lil wayne represents the voice of people who want alternative rap with some fun but nas represents the hands down classic meaning to rap hes serious and his lyrics always have meaning so when u seen this comment FOR FUCK SAKE DONT JUDGE EITHER COS THEY ACHEIVED FAR MORE THAN ANY OF YOU COULD IMAGINE POSSIBLE. PEACE

  • a large part of rap grew out the party scene. rap wasn't meant to be 100% social conscious. like all things in life, music evolves and different branches form. no better, no worst. just different.

  • very true goukiteg... I like all different sorts of hip hop

  • nas = real hip hop

lil' wayne = commercial rap Nobody is better than nas

  • AZ might be... I go back and forth.

  • I beg to deffer. I feel AZ has a better flow and a smother voice to listen to,only my opinion dont get offended.

  • I agree but imo Nas is better lyrically but both still legends in my book

  • Do you even know what the fuck you're talking about?

You think AZ has a 'better' flow than NaS?

Okay. Let's give you the benefit of the doubt. Which flows? On which songs?

This whole notion of comparisons you've brought to the table is fucking ridiculous to begin with.

How are you gonna put motherfucking Art in a box like that?

  • this is on his demo tape

  • dope song. never heard it before. thanks for postin

  • thereallenox myspace-len'ox

  • Nas is so thorough with his rhymes. He is easily the most lyrical MC ever

  • true statement i completly agree

  • nas is the rebel to america!!!! word is bond

  • word is born

  • no, word is bond.

look up the nation of gods and earths on wikipedia or something sometime.

  • listen to the song

Word is born by RUN DMC

u will know what im talkin about

man u aint from the streets i dont think so

so fuk wikipedia or whatever the media brings

whats real is real whats fake is whatever

  • fair enough, it just depends on the context of what your saying. But if i say 'word bond', thats not wrong, it just depends on the situation, because 'word born' is fine but means something else almost entirely

  • ya Mr. Martin Luther King

    its entirely different from meaning

    thats y i use it

  • word my nigga

  • lol

  • ???

  • very god boy

  • dat z da shyut ma bravaz...wat wuld hiphop b wit owt origanal rap talent artists. wit lirikz 2 lean on instead ov depending n a hook n beat!!!

    repin new zealand!!! ...hip hop...

  • nas is good

  • thats god on the mic

  • Stick up America!!!!!! What a line!!!!!!!!!

  • lil wayne lyrics have improved vastly over the last 5 yrs, but he is not a beast nor is he the greatest rapper alive- i don't care what he sells or how many punchlines he spits-he has a while to go and he is not consistent in terms of being coherent and his rhymes tend to be all over the place at times.

  • oh please lil wayne sucks ass and will continue to suck ass untill he dies..

and if you ever get the idea that he is maybe just a little dope or at least "not that wack" this track will help you remember that he raps worse that the average kitchen sink..

  • his lyrics got worse. he uses any word to make a rhyme, which something a 4yr old can do. if u truly like hiphop such as the 90's era. you have to lower ur bar of expectation just to listen to wayne.

  • beat is old school sample "mr magic"

  • 50 is bullshit. can never compare to nasty nas!!!

  • @jlrmacias Why are you even comparing the two, Nas is tha greatest emcee that ever lived. 50 was NEVER good. This guy is so bad. All he uses is a simple A-A, B-B rhyme pattern and never tries anything fancy. He has the vocabulary of a 5th grader and the voice of a mental patient’s worst Al Pacino impression. His whole career is based upon him getting shot. Those nine bullet holes are the best things that ever happened to him. And the only reason he has stayed relevant is through petty radio beef

  • @HipHopHead5611 jus lets kids enjoy the music they like..

  • Just to think he was only fuckin 19 years old. Just show you he was born to use mics. GOAT and genius at holding the mic down, YOU UNLUCKY I AM YOUR MOTHERFUCKEN C SECTION.

  • Man, nas is hard, but i never hear him spit some real freestyles.

  • Yo I'm sick of mothafuckers calling shit a "freestyle" when the shit aint...THIS IS A SONG SL500Green A SONG....DAMN!!!!!! But good lookin 4 puttin it up.. this is my shit!!!

  • yizzurrr nas wud kill lil wayne nigga

  • NAS will shit on WAYNE. FUCK he'll shit on WAYNE. a lyrical ass beatin. FUCK!

  • TRUE SHIT NIGGA

  • omfg nas is a beast

  • 2nd vrs flawless

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO MAN

  • I'm sorry it's:

"Does a lonely mic give me an erection, yes son!"..

I don't want to misquote the god..

    Dude is so hip hop!

  • So many qouteables:

"Does a lonely mic give me an erection, yes sir"

It's like a hot spoon of herion.

"The beat smells the "L" cause it travels long distance"..

  • y'all cats respect this one. Look at his benevolence over this classic! Win, y'all , win!

  • +IN GODS SON WE TRUST+

  • off his demo tape to columbia...not a freestyle

  • shit g if nas can free like that.....it totally explains his lyricism on his lp's .....bigups to the god of hip hop...straight ethered hova

  • nas is the god of rap forreal. real talk

  • watch ?v=whAHKpFGkzU

    watch ?v=LMtv8XpcVk8

    watch ?v=jcUj4dJ1pG8

Some tracks me and my boy did. check it out.

  • ill track. what song does this beat come from. i've heard it before. somebody please help me out.

  • Who said anything about hip hop not having a soul??

HIP HOP IS DEAD like I said nigga...The soul and spirit of the music still lives on, get right and learn to think.

  • aaaaah....!! YES!!! The Golden Age of Hip Hop. What great music and mc's came out during this time. "Understanding". Music with meaning... where is it? Wow, the Hip Hop culture is surely dying.

  • you still got UNDERGROUND hip hop tho, so surely its NEVER gonna die

  • Thats the reason it's UNDERGROUND, because it's dead and burried, and hidden from the sheep.

Hip Hop is dead, let it stay burried underground.

  • thats the most retarded thing I've ever heard, but yet it makes sense, and still contradicts itself, if it WAS dead, then the underground wouldn't be making MUSIC would they now!! you might say its buried, but its NOT DEAD!!

  • Might blow up but it wont go pop

  • classic right here

  • i don't think i ever heard this one before. this guy is fucking amazing. is it true he was better when he was younger?

  • Nas is the God of rap

  • nas delivery and flow in this song are so hot it could burn down a fucking building

  • nas delivery and flow in this song are so hot it could burn down a fucking building

  • shit is fire I got like 10 or so unreleased nas tracks like this, one love

  • yew think u could send em to mah email

  • this came out like 1991 before he got singed why do u think you hear stuff off this song thats on illmatic. Most of this stuff that says rare or a freestyle was off his demo tape which he wrote.

  • this is not a freestlye its from his Demo Tape lol.

  • old school Nas at his finest. never heard this till about a week ago or so.

  • 120 lessons

  • word up

  • i remember first time I heard this joint in like 96, Nas' lyricism unprecedented crack

  • anyone heard of street fighter soundtrack back in i think '94...its called "one on one" pretty dope.

  • and nas was on it?

  • yup. the whole song is by nas.

  • whats the name of the orginal sample for this song?

  • Grover Washington Jr. - Mr. Magic

  • nas is a lyrical beast...ilmmatic shit he is not talking about Rae cos every black young male cooking up a cake could be a cocain cook

  • Probably that was a subliminal to Raekwon. He was probably even sending a subliminal to Common with the Pop Duke Resurrection line. But a lot rappers are known to send subliminal disses to each other even if their cool with one another.

  • he said ¨chef cocaine cooks¨ ... is he talking bout his boy raekwon??

  • @robz05 wow, he might be!

  • For those who don't know who produced this song. It was Buckwild. He's worked with Organised Konfusion, Notorious B.I.G., O.C. Kool G Rap, Jay-Z, AZ, Big L a lot other artists.

  • nasir. the best here!

  • Nasty Is KING!!!

  • lyrical beast who rips beats

  • the fuckign beat is off the hook too.

  • The thing I like about Nas is, he can still rap like this, he purposefully dumbs down his lyrics. This is evident on "Where Ya'll At" where Nas reverts back to "Old Nas" with jam tight sylables, and unconceivalbe displays of lyricism. Nas is obviously the most dangerous Lyricist today, until he decides to retire. I like how he constanly switches his lyrical style(which makes some say hes fallen off, but don't see that Nas always switches his flow to match whatever record hes on).

  • his only problem is weak production. nas is the type, you gotta make him rise to the occasaion.

  • i completely agree with you...i want to see an album with him and dj premier producing the whole album...that would be sick son!

  • ohhh!!! OHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS CRAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

  • Why the hell was this NOT on Illmatic?!?!?!

  • it's dope but illmatic is perfection and this aint quite on that level

  • WHAAAAT????

  • This is fucking SICK. I have to get a copy of all these tracks from NaS. CHRIST!!

  • Much props for uppin this gem. Nas really killed it.

  • Yea i heard nas first verse on a remix with the dead president beat and that sht was hot his flow came right after Jayz dead presidents.. the whole song and his min verse crushed JayZ whole song.

  • yeh this is nice but not reeally that rare, this shit be all over nas unreleased bootlegs and compilations

  • jay z is a great lyricist but how can he fuck with that!!you heard that first verse nas said?wtf. and this is from the mid nineties

  • Lyrical Genius!!
