  • I'll get down on my knees to WORSHIP THIS GOD!!!....

  • Does anyone actually know how to pronounce Bauhaus?

  • @bhfjdsihb I'm pretty sure it's pronounced BOW-HOWS but I have been calling it BAW-HAWS since I first started listening to them so its stuck with me.

  • Old School!

  • I wish I would have seen him in 1990, but at least I saw him last year, great performance and one of my best days ever, Peter Murphy talked to me in between songs and patted my head with a bouquet of red roses, oh god so flattering!!!! It really inspires me to carry on the legacy in my music!!! I might have not experienced the 80s but i was born in the 80s! :D

  • @Purerockband I think he's quite capable of doing that by himself!

  • ...I can exist in my own vacuum.... and work in that way.... you know what I mean? well yes aaa...annnnddd... no. 'We can deduce that subject is lefthanded'~~~~ Frances Q. Pfudge "P'haps that's just where they placed the ashtray", Syd Barret, of Wimpole STreet, hairdressers to the stars.

  • Peter Murphy is just amazing in all repsects, the man just rocks!

  • I think he mostly "stutters" when he's "nervous"!!!...

  • He put the "gorge" in "gorgeous" and the "suck" in "succulent"!!!.... The MOST BEAUTIFUL ALIEN sent down to Earth from the Planet **FUCKME**!!!!

  • the bat left the bell tower lisping and stuttetututering.

  • Woah. I think Bowie arrived first.

  • I still can't get over how beautiful of a creature Peter is! I prefer dark hair on him but I think he's a babe with blonde hair too.

  • And so EXTREMELY FUCKABLE!!!!... It fucking HURTS to see him back then at 32 and so INCREDIBLY GORGEOUS with that bleached hair ( and slender )!!! A fucking VISION, for sure!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Speak for yourself, freak... I just like certain songs of his.

  • Man, this must be what GOD looks like!!! ( or THE DEVIL?? ) The point is it doesn't fucking matter if we ( the fans ) are gay/ straight or male/ female we're thinking about FUCKING him!!! Let's fucking ADMIT it , boys & girls!!! We're ALL in fucking DROOL-VILLE looking at this BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL!!!!!

  • Peter Murphy has always struck me as being a hyperintelligent individual and it permeates all his artistic ventures. He has always reminded me of David Bowie in this regards. This association seems to carry more gravity in light of his Bauhaus cover of Ziggy Stardust back in the 1980's. Just absolutley a top drawer artist with an untouchable style.

  • What a sexy man¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

    hmmmmm

  • I always look at him on this video like I'm fucking starving!!! If being fucking "gorgeous" was "agains the law", Peter'd be a fucking "criminal"!!!! I swear!!!

  • Yes Peter is a fucking STUNNER!!!...Those fucking cheekbones alone are something to drool about all day long... And those amazing eyes....

  • hes a stunner...prettier with black hair

  • I'm gay and I think he looks better in blonde hair. He looks more distinct that way.

  • One of the coolest concerts I ever been to in Pheonix, AZ, right before they started to tour with NIN. NIN should have opened for THEM in those shows...

  • GAWD!! Look at those eyes and those cheekbones!

  • he is much to inelligent to talk to that that ignorant reporter.

  • yeah his hair does look good like that!

  • I am addicted to painkillers, coke and smack. Bauhaus are my other vice. But I also like booze and gambling.

  • Excellent interview with Pete - thank you - though the comments made by the journalist certainly plumbed new depths of inanity ("Morose, poetical, whatever, Murphy's music sure is attracting admirers"). Her 'commentary' was topped only by the cringewothy comments of his US fans: "Like oh my God,he's got killer cheek bones! Tee hee! He's sexy!" Makes you want to pull out a large stake...

  • This is a great tune but, all through the night is my favorite. Great exotic vioce and performer!

  • This interview is great. He looks so good with his hair like that; doesnt he? Thank you

  • awesome

  • I met him several years ago in the Virgin Megastore in LA. We chatted for a while, and he was incredibly nice and chatty and down to earth, really a sweetheart! I had mistakenly thought he'd be aloof....

  • why people say his lyrics are depressive ? O_o

i find his lyrics beautiful and very imaginary

his music make me in a very GOOD mood not a DEPRESSIVE mood =D

  • Brilliant & extremely talented - could've had the world by the balls too, but lost his way on Holy Smoke: pity.

  • I liked Holy Smoke

  • I liked "Low Room" on it, and I liked where "Keep Me From Harm" seemed to be going - but didn't quite get there: Peter's albums are usually eclectic, and it was no exception, but it went a bit too far and kind of lost its focus ("Holy" smoke tends to have that effect in the studio ) - it just didn't quite have the content that Hysteria, Deep or Cascade did.

  • Yeah Holy Smoke seems to be one of his most underrated albums. I am going to see Peter Murphy in two weeks.

  • Yah that's true!!! But it was still good anyway right!?? In an interview he said that his favorite album he made was "Dust" and that was very diffrent of all the rest!! But still very good!!

  • I have to agree with Murphy; "Dust" was incredible, priceless, and I feel sad to think that I can never again "hear it for the first time".

His whole musical career was a build-up to that album.

  • He's gorgeous!

  • I saw him at Chene Park, Detroit on this tour. First time I drank moonshine....I think I just crushed my dentures with my walker.

  • God he's so sexy :)

  • one of the best bands I have seen live...

  • Goth Forever

  • " old 'Maxell' video tape advert "

Oh my, I remember that , was excellent quintessential early80's , feel old now :(

  • Peter Murphy represents everything which a talented, sophisticated and soulful musician should be. (something that is in very short supply today)

  • i thought he was delicious in the old 'Maxell' video tape advert, where he was just sitting in this arm chair, with the wind blowing on him.

  • He is a vampire!

  • I totally agree with you. He's a 400 year old vampire, both him and Bowie.

  • ever notice how all he old english bands played with homo in their vids and lyrics.Furs,Mode many but they all turn out rock men and straight. well Im gay -yippee for me. It means so little n the spectrum of things. Murphy 's music doesn't appeal or seem so interesting in the instrumentation ulike toneson tail or bauhaus. Giving in to commercial pressure- I dunno.

  • that's funny because i thought daniel ash was gay for sure. i was so surprised when i found out he wasn't.

  • Thanks for posting this!! Did you tape it off of 120 min back in the day?? I love Peter! Just saw him with Bauhaus/NIN in NJ! I'll never be too old I hope to put on the black.

  • Great Video. Peter is awesome!

  • I love it, thanks!!!

  • I am a Bowie fan as well as a Murphy fan, but you cannot compare the two as they are very different genres. Bowie's lyrics were more "cabaret" during the 70's before he went totally commercial in the early 80's to now. Murphy has always been deep, and converting to Islam has made his music even more interesting. I think Murphy is closer in style to the singer Momus than Bowie.

  • can you say effeminate? those british fags really know how to write some beautiful prose though. lol by the way, bauhaus really hates the goth tag everyone puts on them .everyday is halloween

  • Im English and have to say that Peter Murphy is not Gay. I saw him and his wife in North London. Hes elegant unlike the homosexual cowboys in America. Boy I couldnt believe how many Gay men are the macho types in America. You see in England we are more elegant because we appreciate our femine sides and we adore women...

  • I can't blame anyone for thinking Peter Murphy is gay, with the way he performed. I certainly thought he was for a long time after seeing the live clip for 'Rose Garden Funeral Of Sores', with Bauhaus.

  • GOTH FOREVER and why think that of our god?

  • homosexual cowboys... i like that, thats funny. but its a little unfair to stereotype americans like that. we are as diverse as anyone else.

  • What does his wife look like?

  • Bauhaus don't "really hate the goth tag", you're thinking of the Sisters of Mercy. Bauhaus don't care either way. Infact, I've heard Bauhaus admit they were one of the bands that started the whole goth thing.

  • Agreed, in another interview, Peter Murphy refers to some of his fans being "beautiful gothic people."

  • Yah I saw that interview here on youtube! My heart felt so good when he said that! I love Peter so much!

  • he IS still hot, just a more delicate, thinning-haired type of way. <3

  • *sigh* he used to be so HOT!! I love him.

  • Thank you for that! I just love how he defends his writing in such a broad and simple way, allowing it to speak for itself, which it obviously does. Excellent clip!

  • handsome

  • Is there a video for Indigo Eyes? I'd really like to see one.

  • Thanks for the video~! Brilliant!

  • Hes beautiful and I love him...Seven Veils is one of my all time favourite songs.

  • YUMMM

  • god i love peter murphy always have.

  • i think the way he sings into the mike is similar to bowie (lol) but for the most part his solo stuff sounds pretty far removed from bowie. heh heh, I don't care, I love 'em both. :-D

  • it's pronounced bow-house. his mannerisms, vocabulary and his whole approach to music are very similar to David Bowie it's scary.

  • I'm more of a Peter Murphy fan than a Bauhaus fan, because I only found Murphy himself recently and haven't listened to much Bauhaus either. Frankly, I don't even know how to pronounce it.

  • IMO Bauhaus is pretty good, but Peter's solo stuff is a lot better.

  • Bauhaus is Revolutionary! Peter Murphy's solo work is more skilled but not better!

  • It's pronounced kinda like "Bow (as in what you do after a performance, not the weapon) house"

  • 'fall with your knife' is peter's greatest song ever. tear dropping all the way, amazing!

  • Lovely video, thanks !

  • The man's a genius regardless what he did. Nice interview.

  • I personally am more a Peter Murphy fan than a Bauhaus fan. I thought Bauhaus were good but Murphy as a solo artist is great. Especially the albums Love Hysteria, Deep, and Holy Smoke. I just wish Beggars Banquet would remix/remaster and re-release them, because they were mixed way too thin.

  • I think his work with Mick Karn is pretty good

  • i like bauhaus better, but his solo album "deep" was great and a few after that one too

  • I found Pete before I knew about Bauhaus so I prefer him alone. I do love Bauhaus too though! Beautiful interview bits!

  • nice. I prefer peter murphy as part of bauhaus tho. not like i don't liek his music as a solo artist but still..
