I realized long ago that it's counterproductive to target secondary objects in an attempt to remedy a primary malady. If gun control is effective in reducing violent crime, then automobile control is effective in reducing driving under the influence. If murder or drunk driving is the problem, then the behavior is the proper target... not the object used in commission of the crime. You may as well pass strict laws forbidding bank robbers to speed after the robbery.

But now, thanks to a strong military and police force we no longer need a citizen militia. And besides, who says gun control means a total ban? There are different levels to this. I believe healthy restrictions, more harsh than those present, rather than an outright ban would be a good comprimise. An unarmed criminal is a weaker criminal.

I agree that gun control isn't inherently a gun ban but it operates under the same basic principle: that you can effect criminals behavior through legislation when they're by definition the people who break laws. It's an absurd notion.
@crazypants88 That is true, criminals by nature, sad as it is, break laws, but certain effects of law cannot be overcome by the criminal mind. For example, the shooter at Virginia Tech. He had a troubled history up to that point, and yet was still allowed to legally purchase a firearm. If a good amount of gun control was enforced, preventing troubled or suspicious people from obtaining a gun, he likely would not have been able to buy one, thus preventing the shooting entirely.

A more realistic solution is to allow students (or just people in general) to defend themselves with firearms. Gun free zones don't do anything to prevent gun crime.

Illegal guns are alot harder to obtain than illegal drugs, and this because of several factors, most notable of which is that smuggling drugs is much easier because there are many places to hide them in small amounts. Plus, law enforcement is getting better at this. The black market has pretty much ceased to exist in my town. And that fact aside, gun control does make it more difficult more criminals to get guns. There are examples of this.

The black market trade in guns is actually EASIER than drugs because the guns can't be "sniffed out" by electronic noses or drug dogs.

The demand for illegal guns still exists and it is and will be supplied. Look at Mexico, one of the toughest gun laws on the planet, yet it does nothing to stop the cartels from getting their hands on them.
Much more likely scenario is that black market has gotten better at hiding itself but it's your town, you know it better than me. Again I agree, drugs can be easier to smuggle (aside from the smell some drugs emit) but that doesn't invalidate anything I've said. It's tougher but far from impossible.

I bought one last Oct, and the guy at the booth dident even ask for me I.D.! I was out the door with it in less than 10 minutes! Screw the black market, this is where the badguys are getting guns. This is exactly why I am a gun owner and have a CCL. I am also a law abiding citizen, but the sales guy @ the gunshow, dident care who or what I was.

I realized long ago that it's counterproductive to target secondary objects in an attempt to remedy a primary malady. If gun control is effective in reducing violent crime, then automobile control is effective in reducing driving under the influence. If murder or drunk driving is the problem, then the behavior is the proper target... not the object used in commission of the crime. You may as well pass strict laws forbidding bank robbers to speed after the robbery.

But now, thanks to a strong military and police force we no longer need a citizen militia. And besides, who says gun control means a total ban? There are different levels to this. I believe healthy restrictions, more harsh than those present, rather than an outright ban would be a good comprimise. An unarmed criminal is a weaker criminal.

@crazypants88 That is true, criminals by nature, sad as it is, break laws, but certain effects of law cannot be overcome by the criminal mind. For example, the shooter at Virginia Tech. He had a troubled history up to that point, and yet was still allowed to legally purchase a firearm. If a good amount of gun control was enforced, preventing troubled or suspicious people from obtaining a gun, he likely would not have been able to buy one, thus preventing the shooting entirely.

Illegal guns are alot harder to obtain than illegal drugs, and this because of several factors, most notable of which is that smuggling drugs is much easier because there are many places to hide them in small amounts. Plus, law enforcement is getting better at this. The black market has pretty much ceased to exist in my town. And that fact aside, gun control does make it more difficult more criminals to get guns. There are examples of this.

@Ultimaton100 Meh, I'm not a fan of the whole 'Nazis did it' argument. I look at it from a common sense point of view:
- Criminals have weapons. Be it guns, knives, bats, fists/feet in large numbers, etc.
- If I have a weapon, I can defend myself from said criminals.
- if laws are changed to prevent me, a law-abiding citizen, from having weapons, I will lose my capability to defend myself since I am not willing to break the law.

To him, anyone who legally purchased a gun is a potential criminal, and he'll do anything to either disarm you, or even try to deny the gun sale in the first place without any probable cause violating your rights the whole time.
Any factual information you might post will be seen as "fake right wing extremist" info by him, even if you linked directly to the FBI themselves.

i haven't been allowed gun ownership for 10 years. did property damage drunk. plead gulty to violent crimes because I was told to by lawyer for probation w/off record upon completion vs. get a lose in court and do 20 years for stuff I didn't do. well they all lied i'm still a felon and a violent felon on record. don't like being labeled such a thing for life. well that is if I had a life. no job equality no civil rights leaves no reason to try or have kids thinking of suicide,ya'll prob agree

I truly am grateful to see this vid! Awesome! It makes the perfect point to those who can't draw proper conclusions from reality. Its ok that they can't though. Things happen that changes ppls minds. If they ever are a surviving victim of violent crime, I assure u, unless they r "special needs", they will come to reality that they are responsible for their personal well being. Im gonna get flamed for this but hear me out. As a proud multi gun owner, I must say, it is WAY too easy to get a gun at a gunshow in America. I bought one last Oct, and the guy at the booth dident even ask for me I.D.! I was out the door with it in less than 10 minutes! Screw the black market, this is where the badguys are getting guns. This is exactly why I am a gun owner and have a CCL. I am also a law abiding citizen, but the sales guy @ the gunshow, dident care who or what I was.

It wasent untill I got home that I stopped to think about it, but I was shocked myself once I took it all in. I took my wallet out of my pocket twice that day. Once to pay the $3 to get in the gunshow, and once to pay for the gun I wanted, not to show ANYONE I.D. Of course I had to fill out the tiny amount of paperwork.

@druidiron I don't believe you. Your story is BS. I have been to many gun shows and they have always taken care of business as they should. I think you are not what you say you are and are just trying to stir things up. Most guys that have displays are taking their store on the road. They have to do everything by the book or could loose their license, their store and their way of making a living. Didn't happen and I doub't you own any guns or ever bought one at a gun show. Just my opinion.

@LeeRoy517 I dont like being called a liar, but for the sake or argument, lets pretend I fabricated a true story. Even had I shown the man ID, he did not run it through a system, or call anyone to verify the application was true. I could have been a 5 time felon with a fake ID, and a false application. I still would have left with a new 25auto, "registered" (for all I know my gun could possibly not be registered) to a fake name. I filled out an app, payed my money and left with a gun!
