  • I've been a huge Rush fan since 1975, my Rush addiction borders on insanity.

  • Alex at 2:23. He loves this song so much.

As do I. It makes me glad to be alive.

  • This Song is Horrilble, sorry guys......listen to Hemispheres, 2112, P waves or Carress of Steel..Please!... This song and era of Rush is an Embarrasment!

  • One person clearly doesn't get it. Schade

  • What the hell is this song about?

  • I'm goin see Rush for the first time this summer (I'm only 15) and I really wish they'd play either this or Manhattan Project. Oh well, can't wait to go. It'll be great none the less!

  • if you were not there, you will never no.they are the best.A three man band that can make this much noise is the best,i love RUSH they are the best.

  • moving back and forth

    /watch?v=FzoXQKumgCw

    from the point

  • GODS........

  • Incredible tune-like everything RUSH has done! Awesome.

    Fan since 77.

  • @RushRules4 it doesn't. I seen them in Toronto and they didn't play it. Great show none the less!

  • I really hope this gets played in 2010 for the Clockwork Angels tour!

  • I've listened to EVERY Rush song well over 1000 times each, and this is my favorite Rush masterpiece by a longshot. Best band ever, hands down.

  • The most inspirational album I have ever heard

  • God I hate the sound of that fucking piece of shit Wal bass. Glad he got rid of it. As Geddy says "not a good rock bass" I prefer the Ric and then the Jazz.

  • Hold your fire is a lot better than "alright" it is great!

  • it would be so cool if they played this song on thier next album along with other hidden songs, songs that real Rush fans want to hear!

  • ok what ever Rush in the 80s was amazing i wish i was alive to see them in the 80s to see them or even the 90s. Rush was never embarrassing.

  • Completely agree with Availablelight1. Same exact experience for me. Hold Your Fire was a big part of my teenage years. It was also the album that turned me into a Rush fan. It's still my favorite album of theirs with Time Stand Still being my favorite song of theirs.

  • Hold Your Fire was probably THE seminal album of my late teenage years... along with Signals and all of the other 80's RUSH albums. I hate that so many fans wrote them off in this period. The Guitar work was f***king brilliant... My biggest influence by far as a player of 27 years. These albums were so emotionally and spiritually charged... very coming of age. The production was a little thin, but the live shows were amazing... Thank god they released "A Show of Hands".

  • totally agree

as a guitar player it inspires me

and simply as a listener hyf is my fave album

open secrets and second nature define powerful

  • One of my favorite Rush songs...And as I got older and became more spiritual, it seemed to have even *more* significance for me.

  • The entire Hold Your Fire album is a lot more significant, a very spiritual album.

  • I agree.

It's been my favorite for many years. I don't find it to be the "perfect" Rush album, because the songs turned out way better live than in the studio, but the songcraft, ambiance, and lyrics from HYF are amazing.

But again...trying to pick a favorite Rush album is hard. I love them all (from every era) for different reasons, depending on the mood I'm in.

  • I agree, I actually call HYF my favorite album because it was so different from the rest of their stuff, especially at the time.

Picking my favorite Rush album is hard, indeed, but HYF is the one I would pick with many albums being close seconds, in my opinion, but I truly can't pick my favorite song from Rush, but I love 'em all, so you know I can proudly keep it at that :P

  • "A memo to a higher office" Yeah that's just fucking terrific.

  • Rush has a lot of smart fans. And they also have a lot of lunkhead fans. You're obviously from the latter gene pool.

  • true, it's not the best album ever recorded. it's alright though.

  • they have done over 141 songs

  • 164 Starting from their debut album

  • I really love this video!!!

  • I didn't know they did this song in concert! Beautiful tune! Yay Rush!

  • Sorry, like Zodiac Mindwarp's "Prime Mover" better.. ;-)

  • RexLupercal, the only idiot is you!!! READ THE LYRICS!!!! If you think you are right, prove it!

  • I love the orgasm of this song. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!!

  • it took me a while to figure out this one by rush.... I love their lyrics... : )

"Prime Mover" is about the stage crew and the working on, around and about performing on stage. One day I was listening to it and it just hit me.... does anyone else come to the same conclusion?

  • no you idiot. that is not what it is about. google 'prime mover.' it is about the creator of the universe.

  • Rush drummer/lyricist Neil Peart is a big Twilight Zone fan. This shares the title with a famous Twilight episode # 57. Jimbo, who runs a cafe, has psycho-kinetic powers and when his partner Ace Larsen (Dane Clark) discovers Jimbo's power would allow him to manipulate dice, they head for Las Vegas. The pair win big, but Ace cannot stop gambling, despite the pleas of his girlfriend Kitty (Christine White) and Jimbo, who cares more about his friend than all the money in the world.

  • yea i argee completely i didnt realize it til i saw ur comment but prime mover does mean center of the universe which would be the stage crew in rushs world when there on tour. they make everything happen and nuthin would be in motion if it werent them settin up everyhing and makin everyting turn and the anything could happen part is talkin about when there on the road for so long

  • This is actually a really good song that I'd never heard of till I saw the DVD.

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • they are so talented!! I think RUSH is the biggest rock hard band!

  • They must play this song on their next tour, along with "The Big Wheel" from Roll the Bones!

  • This song inspired me as a 14 yr old. Thank you RUSH!

  • A really underrated song. Good stuff

  • one of Gedd's best bass lines!

    Anything can happen!

  • who knows the name of that famous rush inrumental? its played on sports shows sometimes?

  • YYZ?

  • What an underrated song! Prime Mover is a Rush classic that should be brought back.

  • I bet half of youtube is with you on that one.

  • hell yeah. its one of my favorite rush songs!

  • this should be on every tour

  • For sure!

  • this should be on the next tour

  • Oh when Geddy Lee was young...

  • ?? He was 35 by that time. YOUNG would have been on the Bastille Day live 1976 Video.

  • Decades part I

  • just some youtuber filter

fuck these people, canot filter it

ged the fuck outtta my chatroom peanut

  • the peart of the journeys isnt basic Oz, izzy nit? no, that's not it, you fucking assholes. why rate rush as a two

  • The Judge

To ePhilosopher: You rate rush a two because

you can't count to three! RUSH is the headiest

    rock band ever!!!

  • You just don't Ged it, do you? I adore Rush. Use your abacus subtraction to add the two and the three to make it a proud high in handful of fingers. Geesh, you're forcing my show of hands! To date, 14 times seen them live. Therefore, a memo to a higher office: Dear Judge... I the jury!

  • The wal 4 bass has a great sound, with mid range... i think that suits well in many rush songs, such as Prime mover

  • great song and album but i cannot take the wal bass and strat after listening to the fender and gibson for so long.

  • One of the best bass line EVER!!!!!!!!

    It almost made me cry...lol

  • that's what these 3 guys do to listeners(like my self)they give you goosebumps they get you emotional and tears of joy, nothing has moved me like rush does!i love these guys.cut my veins and rush will come out of them.!!!!!!!!

  • @hailingzoe Absolutely true. The bass line is amazing!

  • I love this song. In fact i like all the album, but the song that i admire the most is second nature, this is my favorite of this album.

  • I love this song. By far the best on Hold Your Fire (though all that album is pretty much top material), and probably their best since anything on Moving Pictures.

  • Great upload. I just wish the audio and video were in sync.

  • the secret's in the stirrer

  • RUSH RULES!

  • Geddy is a Bass Master.

  • Geddy rocks!

  • anything can happen...

    so good,

    sooo good.

  • I love this song.

  • wow it's been that long since "I asked the man who stood at the gate of the year....give me a light so that i can tread into the darkness" , congrats on the malignant Grammy nomination and the 2008 tour for narcissistics.

  • Who the hell are you? Cause you're just bizarre!! Don't take offense, please - it's all good :)! Long live RUSH!

  • Beautiful song. I'm not a big Rush fan but this album touching me like no other.
