Yeah...it's called kief not crystals.the crystals are transparent and so small you could never extract only the crystals....though kief is WAY more potent than buds cause alot of the thc crystals fall into the pile of kief,but then your also left with a pile of shake lacking thc content needed to get the job done...and that sux.

The repercussions of this simply consist of a higher resulting yield of hash, with a slightly lesser potency.

Okay, there needs to be a lesson taught about this video.

There is no way of knowing (save the author telling us) how thin his screen was. When you collect kief (the powderized THC crystals a.k.a trichomes), the prefer method is using a SILK SCREEN with a size of at least 90. The reasn being is the smaller your screen, the less plant material will fall through.

Also, the point of this whole process is to get as LITTLE plant material as possible and as near to only trichomes that you can possibly get. Ways of preventing the plant from seeping through your screen would to have FAIRLY grounded-up buds, not fine and powdery.

Just buy a grinder with a sift tray and a good silk screen and save the agony.

the residue/powder thaat is left behind on the lid of your grinder, is pure thc.
