  • This sounds really similar to "Melancholy Man" by The Wake - from 1981.

  • If you need someone

    to tell you

    everything

    is gonna be allright

    I can do that

    I can do that

    I can.

  • Gloriously simple. Simply glorious.

  • Glorious simple. Simply glorious.

  • surely someone has Humblebee to upload

  • Stumbled across this one in 2001, either late in my sophomore year of high school or during the summer. Still love it. The lyrics are awkward, but charmingly so. I'd love to sing it to a girl because it says so much in its own way.

  • ~no worries guys, i now have "where'd you learn to kiss that way" -- which is a fantastic collection, btw

  • great song from a great band! pls check out our video, we are still trying to get that shoegaze/ambient feel.. just type, jam experiment video file 1 (or video file 2).. leave a comment, thanks!

  • Good tune. Very charming, in lack of a better word.

  • You might also like this recent band called Days with their really likeable LP called Downhill.

  • Easily one of my favourite Field Mice songs <3

  • I love this!! someone please give me a list of similar bands, i'm really getting into this kinda music right now!

  • Trashcan Sinatras, Black, The Housemartins, Stephen Merrit,

    The Magnetic Fields.

    Enjoy

  • Raido Dept, The Clientele, Days, Birdie. From last century you'd like The Room, The Wild Swans, The Smiths, and, yes, The Trash Can Sinatras. Others will be revealed once you explore these. good luck.

  • The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

    The Pastels

    Shop Assistants

    Black Tambourine

glowfriends <---an amazing band from the Kalamazoo area

    The Sea Urchins

  • the smiths, the radio dept. The pains of being pure at heart.

  • @nevermindmybuttocks look into sarah records, or flying nun for more jangly upbeat stuff! the closest ones to the field mice are probably another sunny day, the brilliant corners, st christopher, and the sea urchins.

hope you've found some of it already :)

  • If you like THE FIELD MICE you will love THE PURELOVE!!!

  • Wonderful !!

  • does anyone know where i can find field mice albums?? i've looked everywhere, from the college radio station to torrents -- nothing! nowhere! do i just have to search amoeba records? haha

  • All on Amazon/ebay and all worth snapping up!

  • Use google blogs, you can download entire albums in a couple clicks. I buy an album if I can but let's face it a lot of stuff is either out of print or costs an arm and a leg and the artists don't get the support anyways.

  • i have this 7 inch single if interested.

  • easy to special order...

  • Are twee pop bands somehow afraid of making promo videos?

  • Thanks for uploading this song as it's excellent and brings back some good memories ;-D

Back in 1989 I would drive 150 miles to the "Vinyl Solution" record store in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my good friend Mario. This is where I bought the Field Mice CD "Coastal". I still have it!

Even though I could have bought the CD closer to home the store was amazing and it was indeed fun times and fun drive the few times we went.

Alas... I have not seen Mario since he got married many years ago.

  • What an awesome song! I don't know how I could have gone so long without knowing about these guys. I overwhelmed with a sense of nostalgia when I hear this.

  • Thanks Pandora!!!!!!! Sweeeeet song! :)

  • The sound of my heart breaking...Snnnap

  • 懐かしい! 有難う御座いました。 Thankyou!

  • so glad i know about this

  • <33 !

  • a VASTLY overlooked band -- their songs are as fresh today... fueled by a tragic love triangle? read their story in the insert of their excellent compilation "where'd you learn to kiss that way?"

    glorious music.

  • Lost my cd anywhere. Great to hear this again!

  • Still got this one on vinyl - get in!

  • thanks for this great old tune!

  • such a beautiful track, takes me back to those innocent student days. marvelous
