I adore this song by my whole heart. Devoted as I am, I only tell people that I really care about of this song. And don't tell anyone I told you this ^^
Stumbled across this one in 2001, either late in my sophomore year of high school or during the summer. Still love it. The lyrics are awkward, but charmingly so. I'd love to sing it to a girl because it says so much in its own way.
great song from a great band! pls check out our video, we are still trying to get that shoegaze/ambient feel.. just type, jam experiment video file 1 (or video file 2).. leave a comment, thanks!
Raido Dept, The Clientele, Days, Birdie. From last century you'd like The Room, The Wild Swans, The Smiths, and, yes, The Trash Can Sinatras. Others will be revealed once you explore these. good luck.
@nevermindmybuttocks look into sarah records, or flying nun for more jangly upbeat stuff! the closest ones to the field mice are probably another sunny day, the brilliant corners, st christopher, and the sea urchins.
does anyone know where i can find field mice albums?? i've looked everywhere, from the college radio station to torrents -- nothing! nowhere! do i just have to search amoeba records? haha
Use google blogs, you can download entire albums in a couple clicks. I buy an album if I can but let's face it a lot of stuff is either out of print or costs an arm and a leg and the artists don't get the support anyways.
Thanks for uploading this song as it's excellent and brings back some good memories ;-D
Back in 1989 I would drive 150 miles to the "Vinyl Solution" record store in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my good friend Mario. This is where I bought the Field Mice CD "Coastal". I still have it!
Even though I could have bought the CD closer to home the store was amazing and it was indeed fun times and fun drive the few times we went.
Alas... I have not seen Mario since he got married many years ago.
What an awesome song! I don't know how I could have gone so long without knowing about these guys. I overwhelmed with a sense of nostalgia when I hear this.
a VASTLY overlooked band -- their songs are as fresh today... fueled by a tragic love triangle? read their story in the insert of their excellent compilation "where'd you learn to kiss that way?"
This sounds really similar to "Melancholy Man" by The Wake - from 1981.
