this album connects with me on such a deep level...I can't really explain it. There's always a lot of albums that I like, love, and adore but there are very few that I truly CONNECT with on this type of level.

Due to space constraints, I wasn't able to mention one major aspect of this album: it's mixed superlatively. All of the instruments are clear as a bell, and the vocals? Second to none.

I just listened to the new album for the first time today, and wow, is it ever a masterpiece. Like two other favourites of mine, Anathema and The Gathering, they have come to embrace musical realms far and away from Metal, yet in no way could any of the above be construed as being "sell outs" for abandoning their initial sound, rather they have expanded their palettes to include elements of ethereal beauty in such a way that it heightens the listening experience, rather than diluting it. 9.75/10
