  • My teacher wants me to play this song, i wasnt very happy to play because i wanted to play "Sway" by Michael Bublé, but now.. I absolutely L.O.V.E it!!!! I can't wait till i play it at our Christmas concert. :)

  • I love this piece

  • Thank you so much! I have to play this piece as a trumpet solo. This really helped me visualise how I need to play it! :)

  • can play this very well myself ! cool song!

  • This isn't Purcell, it's Jeremiah Clarke!

  • @jacarradicefrench I thought it was justin's beaver. I'm so out of touch. Any baroque march will do for a temporary marriage contract. good stuff!.

  • WTF???????

  • Sounds to me like you had a lucky escape (without the trauma of divorce with children involved :( far worse). The bloke did you a favour so view the music as HAPPY.

  • Questa musica mi ha accompagnato nell'uscita al braccio del mio neo-marito...:-))))

  • Too short =(

  • Fine combination of organ and trumpet! Thanks.

  • thats one of my pieces that im gonna play at my examination on June!

  • Also, this piece is often attributed to Purcell.

  • Actually, Jeremiah Clarke did write a Trumpet......Voluntary. He did not write this piece; Henry Purcell wrote this piece. Both are popular wedding songs, from what I've read of music history.

  • This is my text tone on my phone, but this performance sounds better.

  • I used to love playing this on my trumpet. Unfortunately I stopped playing regularly and my sound quality got really crappy.

  • I have played trumpet 8 years and I played this when I was about eleven..

  • el houssine boukas de casablanca morocco a le plaisir d'etre abonner a votre chaine youtube pour publication .

  • This was written by John Stanley, not Henry Percell.

  • @SantaFe19484 nope, definitely Purcell. It is movement 21 in act 4 of a semi-opera he composed in 1690, 22 years before John Stanley was born.

  • @12897430 Is this piece the one which is usually mixed up with the Jeremiah Clarke tune, popular in weddings?

  • Dear Everyday in Australia, one day, you can get great money playing this at weddings.

  • I did this for my grade 3 years ago (like 10 :D). No way was i as good as whoever is playing this and a lot less ornimation. Legend song tho :)

  • My daughter's walking down the aisle to this soon and we have a trumpeter

  • Uhhh I have to play this song for my trumpet exam....god

  • I love this!

  • @CCCaroable The reason, I understand it, is that the main surviving manuscript of this piece of music--which makes us wonder how much else has been lost in history==was found bound in covers with a lot of other stuff, mostly by Purcell and I think Purcell's name was on the binding. Poor Jeremiah--he does this beautiful piece and Purcell, who has lots of other stuff to his name, gets the credit. Life is not fair.

  • no it wasn't

  • it was composed by henry purcell.

  • i have played it when i was about 6 ^^

  • I really wish that this was longer because those trumpets sound fantastic.

  • o my god i'm so sorry man

  • This was going to be played as my fiance walked down the aisle. Sadly she had a change of plan and ran off with the caterer 2 hours before the ceremony. cant help feeling bitter everytime i hear this tune

  • Oh poor you! That's utterly awful. I hope you meet someone more deserving.

  • Absolutely. Quite aside from the wedding, he doesn't have enough appreciation for music. Anyhow, better to be shut of him now, rather then a few years later when you have a 2-year-old.

  • That comment made my day..

    Keep the comedy rollin´

  • Are you David Letterman? That sounds exactly like something he would say...:)

  • omgosh...are you serious omg

  • Heh heh heh heh.

  • you should put that on FML

  • I'm not sure if I believe that. Number one, I don't believe your fiancee would be that cruel. Number two, why are you looking up this song if it makes you feel bitter?

But if it really did happen, then I am sorry, and I agree with the below comment, I hope you find someone more deserving

  • @doodahdayy what.....that's so sad!!!!

  • @doodahdayy i hope ur with a lovely girl now and shel make u happy good luck in the future

  • @doodahdayy

Thats awful, I can't imagine how hard that must be. I can sort of understand my ex-girlfriend was with someone else pretty much day we broke up.

  • @doodahdayy

    LOL.

    Fuckin hilarious.

  • @doodahdayy

did you make that up? thats fucked lol

  • @doodahdayy U'r lucky. It was played at my marriage too. Now I'm broke and destitute... I wish mine had of run off with someone.

  • @doodahdayy that's terrible.

  • @doodahdayy

    @litestuf

I'm sad to read that. I hope that things are going better for you.

  • @doodahdayy Then for you, it will always be known as Purcell's Strumpet Tune.

  • @doodahdayy omg thats so sad im so sorry

  • @doodahdayy Hopefully he leaves one his dishes in the oven too long and he and your fiance die in a house fire.

  • @doodahdayy Did it really happen? It seems to be too fine a crack to be true...

  • This was my wedding music 29 years ago ,the stand in organist just about managed to play.I was just about to marry the Organist/Director of music, of our parish church,,, and 29 years we still enjoy hearing it...

  • what key is this in?

im sorry but my brain just froze up and i couldnt figure out the answer

  • It's in D

  • @mangoman500 D major.

  • im playing this in a solo competition at yale new haven tomorrow!!! its for middle school and elementary school. wish me good luck!

  • Best of luck you will do well =D

  • this is a beautiful piece.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • This is Trumpet Tune - and it's by Jeremiah Clarke, not Henry Purcell !

  • Nope, it is Prins of Denmarks March which was written by Clarke. The trumpet tune is from Purcell

  • I think you and I will have to agree to disagree on that !

  • Dude, you're wrong - the Trumpet Voluntary was written by Clarke but previously attributed to Purcell. But this is all Purcell, and always has been. ;)

  • im surprised at the mainstream confusion over this. I have a wedding book with this tune in it and it has Jeremiah Clark listed as the author. How can publishers get it wrong?

  • Because they confuse this piece with the Trumpet Voluntary, which is by Jeremiah Clarke but often erroneously attributed to Purcell.

  • Actually, I believe this piece was written by Clarke as well... which is bloody hilarious as that means Purcell wrote neither.

  • lol, now that would be funny

  • AWESOME played

  • Awesome !!!

  • Purcell era un chingón

  • Organ's ecoh and trumpet also good.

  • Thanks for posting both this one and Trumpet Voluntary! I am glad I ran in to them, by chance, after a long time! All the best and hope to see more uploads in the future!

  • SOUNDS LIKE WINSTON

  • Simply wonderful!!! Does anyone out there have the proper title of this piece? "Trumpet Tune" sounds awfully vague. AND, are we sure that it's Purcell's tune? There seems to be a lot of disagreement concerning Purcell's and Jer. Clark's works. Anyhelp greatly appreciated. Thanks for the posting.

  • I believe it is "Trumpet Voluntary." I am pretty sure, but not 100% certain.

  • Trumpet Voluntary is a different song. Trumpet Voluntary is also known as "Prince of Denmark's March.

  • Trumpet Tune and Air, I think.

  • No, this is what it is called. I think this piece was actually written by Jeremiah Clarke and Daniel Purcell(Henry's brother), which is where confusion comes.

  • you're confusing

  • Oh dio, che brividi! Purcell era e rimane un genio della musica!

  • Thanks!

  • COOL I LOVE THIS SONG

  • That's really great man! Awesome job to whoever is playing.

  • The trumpet is played by Gyorgy Geiger and Bertalan Hock on the organ. the music is taken from a naxos CD

  • Thank you. I will look for more playing.

  • Wow... I would do anything to have a sound like that...
