How long have you had your tegu? If you dont mind telling me, what are the hardest parts of having a tegu and the easiest? And what does one considering to buy need to know?

It's been 12 years since I got Juancho, I dont think there are hard parts, maybe ppl can tell you they need lots of time and sunbathing but I just love being with him so it's not that hard, food is the easiest part (eggs, meat, insects, fruits... all things you eat too). You need to know that they need a big space, in my case I dont have a big enclosure but I let him free roam the house and garden most of the time so he is ok. Good luck! =)

wished mine was this calm and tame. mine is still a baby, but he is mean as shit. he will run and jump at my hand if i stick it in his tank. also runs into the glass if i get to close to his tank. is there any tricks you have to tame a tegu ? any help is appreciated.

You can always freeze him to get him calmed! LOL JOKE! I dont any tricks, I was lucky mine was always tame, just try not doing fast moves in front of him if you do. Good luck!

They make excellent pets and they need a big space actually, that's why mine free roams the house most of the time. They get about 3 to 4 feet long usually.
