It is a fact that American soldiers did some awful things to the Vietnamese, and that the Vietnamese did awful things to our soldiers. And yes Kerry did speak in front of Congress and accused the US troops. It's part of Congressional records and can NOT be denied by his supporters. He even had to retract much of what he claimed because evidence came forth and showed he was lying. He was just repeating things the enemy made POW's say while being tortured.
In his defense though, he might have been suffering PTSD at the time, which the US failed to help Veitnam Vets with at the time.

He joined an anti-war activist group and staged a media event called Winter Soldier Investigations which was not an investigation but a forum to spread enemy propaganda. That seemed to fit the injury which I treated. What I saw was a small piece of metal sticking very superficially in the skin of Kerry's arm. The metal fragment measured about 1 cm. in length and was about 2 or 3 mm in diameter. . .I simply removed the piece of metal by lifting it out of the skin with forceps. I doubt that it penetrated more than 3 or 4 mm.

I will never forget the lies that these swiftvets continue to spread. Why does it matter? Because he told the truth...yeah the ugly truth. The attrocities commited by some of our soldiers are what empowered the enemy. Yeah read the Winter Soldier Testimonies....the truth is disturbing but it in no way accuses all of our troops of such actions as many would have you believe. War is ugly, bad things happen, when they do lies are not the answer. Shame on those who turn their heads.

It's true that the NVA were brutal geneva voilators, They broke both of McCains arms, but he didn't give in. What Kerry did was atleast a great insult to the POWs. It doesn't seem realistic to me that 250 veterans lied and 1 man was righteous. They offered their lives for our freedom, and so we call them liars...

After reading the Wikipedia entry on the POW-MIA Committee hearing of 1991-1993, I FULLY regret my vote for John Kerry in 2004. I wish I had known then what I know now. Kerry and McCains' treatment of the POW-MIA families were deplorable by all means! The Swift Boat guys were right all along! I should have voted for Nader instead....God forgive me...there is NO WAY I will vote McCain!

Can we trust John Kerry? Good question. Yes. He tells the truth and that is important for a president. He "approved" of what the vietnamese were doing because the U.S. was doing the same thing to the vietnamese. I hate to burst some peoples' bubbles, but the entire vietnam conflict was propaganda and so was/is every war.

Kerry trashed fellow soldiers who served in Vietnam with anti-war statements that we murdered innocents in cold blood. This was during the time that we still had prisoners of war over there suffering at the hands of the North Vietnamese. Statements like that were used against those prisoners. Read "Chained Eagle" by Edward Alvarez Jr. for confirmation.

Most likely because this is a national stage. When running for a state, you deal with those of your state. When running for the country, you deal with the entire country.
Kerry's problem [if I could only narrow it down to one ;)]is that he campaigned as a war hero talking about all his medals. He should simply have backed off from the "war hero" angle after saying so many anti-war statements.
