Minot yes its cold but at least you got winapeg not too far away where it is badass, cannon and minot are both isolated to where you have to drive a few hours to do something but minots surrounding activites are better. Barksdale, at least you only have hot summers, your not gay ass AFSOC, have 115 summers and -20 winters. this place is seriously just like downrange, not to mention the town treats military like shit

We just had a red flag this month. I've worked under 14 twelve hour shifts in the 15 months that I've been here working avionics with two different AMU's. We are a training base and working 12's is not needed.

But you don't have the humid 110 degree summers April-September. Yea we got more people but we also have more crime. Minot does suck though. 'Only the best come North'. Then we go back to Barksdale. 41 exercises/24 months. And we can pass them. For every exercise we do in Minot, you should come here.

@durantfb13 not everybody who is a cop picked the job. i went in open general and became a cop. and not everybody can get a retrain, several of my co-workers tried for a retrain but got denied, and sometimes bitching helps us relieve our stress.

man this happened to me las sept, i had orders to Spangdahlem germany, DENIED! I KNOW THE PAPER PUSHERS DONT KNOW HOW HARD IT IS ON THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY WORK BUT i know cops and crew cheifs got it bad, but dont forget the vehicle maintenance, we get stuck with all the crap ya'll break... yes we're still respensobile for EVERY nuclear certified vehicle on base are inspectable! have had my share of 16-18 hour days, no PT for months.

Yes, I am a nonner with lunch breaks, gym time, closing the office for "official functions" (longer lunches, ha!) 2A - RUN!

@durantfb13 not everybody who is a cop picked the job. i went in open general and became a cop. and not everybody can get a retrain, several of my co-workers tried for a retrain but got denied, and sometimes bitching helps us relieve our stress.

@grandmasterpu ummm...my husband is not a maintainer or a cop and I can't tell you the last time he worked anything less than a 12 hour shift or got called in his days off. He does not get a lunch at all and doesn't get medals out the butt. And yes, he too gets treated like shit!

@FCStaehle shit over here at langley the nonners get 1 whole hour or 2 depending on their jobs for lunch. we eat in a truck on the flightline. we work 12's alot. yall go when the clock hits 3 or whenever; we go when we are DONE with the job. we work weekends because jets need to fly, and we put the AIR in air force. im sick and tired of getting paid the same as the guy in the gym handin out basketballs or an office worker. we work harder deserve better, and everyone knows it. so deal.

I've logged combat time, but I don't think that gives me the right to "own" more of the mission then the airmen in the MPS and the backshops that helped make it happen. I'm not "cooler" than they are because of it, I don't work harder and I'm not entitled to more. We're all a team. So deal.

@topher224 ...really...granted there's some whiners in here but the majority of air force maintainance jobs require a higher asvab score than a good deal of other military jobs. i scored a 92 and still decided to be an aircraft mechanic. i love my job but it's a lot of hours and sacrifice. i'm not gonna whine about it, though. i did sign the dotted line. still, have some respect and appreciation.

I was stuck at the shit hole as a crew dog for three years. fuck the cori's and nori's what twelve hour shifts try 15 to 18. oh and dont forget about the cookie bus with it green bolonga and stale bread. the promotions went everywhere but to the crew chiefs unless they were a bunch back stabbing maggots

Guys, the bullshit will never ever ever go away. Every single base has the bullshit. Retarded exercises, permanent 12 hour shifts, lost weekends, no leave, and a job that grinds you away. Well, at least for those of us who have/had flightline jobs. If you really hate it, crosstrain into medical or whatever, or get out. I opted for the latter, and now I got my post 911 GI Bill coasting me through.

Substitute Offutt for Barksdale - been stuck in this hole now for the last 13 of my 19 years in. I put in for orders, someone else gets the damn things. the last of my era here. all the others have moved on, or PCS'd - lucky bastards... Once you get on it, you can't get Offutt.

man this happened to me las sept, i had orders to Spangdahlem germany, DENIED! I KNOW THE PAPER PUSHERS DONT KNOW HOW HARD IT IS ON THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY WORK BUT i know cops and crew cheifs got it bad, but dont forget the vehicle maintenance, we get stuck with all the crap ya'll break... yes we're still respensobile for EVERY nuclear certified vehicle on base are inspectable! have had my share of 16-18 hour days, no PT for months.

Listen folks - if anyone is thinking about joining the Air Force and the recruiter talks to you about an AFSC that starts with 2A run and run fast and far away. I was in aircraft maintenance for 14 years (of abuse and hell), recently retrained into the nonner side and I absolutely love it.! Yes, I am a nonner with lunch breaks, gym time, closing the office for "official functions" (longer lunches, ha!) 2A - RUN!

Grandmasterpu - yes I agree with you I do know how shitty it is for all the cops and maintainers, but i do work on the flightline supporting jets so I know what its like. Once again though, props on the video. Bigdaddyurl - you are close I was stationed at 2 other bases before I came here but have you ever considered I may have deployed to many other bases? Not just to the desert either, I have gone TDY to numerous stateside bases. So that is alot...btw.
