  • his reason: ....but it works

  • I feel embarrassed to live in Texas sometimes lol. And I hate the stereotypes people make of us. We're not all rednecks that are dumb. A lot of us are smart. :P lol.

  • You sir do not know how to put out a good argument. You broke the most basic rule: just because something is true for YOU does not mean it's true for OTHERS. You cannot take your own personal experience and generalize it to the whole country.

  • Herp derp, bertn dertn! Amo tellya. Tellyawhut.

Thank god this retard is toast.

  • Abstinence works if you abstain, just as breathing works if you breathe and walking works if you walk.

  • The world hasn't forgiven america for allowing George W Bush in...vote this guy and you're going to have even less respect. I really hope this guy fades off into the background.

  • Just say no.....there, mission accomplished.

And Texas still elected this baffoon.....whoa

  • This guy clearly says that "I don't give a crap about facts and statistical data. I believe what I believe and you can prove that i am wrong but you are going to have a pretty darn hard time to make me accept it". Thats typical republican approach. What I don't understand is: who in the sane state of mind can vote to this clown?

  • A.) The question answered itself. obviously, it's not working.

B.) The host was an anti-social, awkward moron.

C.) Ask the same awkward question to the other candidates. I promise the answer will either make no sense, be rabbit trail, or have a changed view in 20 minutes.

  • Please listen-if you want to go somewhere or take a vacation-do it before the right wing takes control of the white house. These pentagon owned war mongers will take us right into WWIII.This is the reality. When they have finally pushed Iran too far the Persion Gulf will become a war zone and the price of gas will double. A war with Iran means a war with China and Russia-this means a lot of dead soldiers and a dead economy. We will all be fucked so please take that vacation while you still can

  • @unclelight get a grip...if you are still buying into the democrat v republican smoke screen, I feel sorry for you.

They are on the same team. They work for the corporations and banksters...don't be a fool

  • Teenagers, please have sex. When you don't, you become serial killers.

  • HOW EMBARRASSING !!!!!

  • Just think people this guy at one point was considered the front runner for the nomination. What a joke!

  • how did he even make it this far? he doesnt seem to be the smartest

  • This reminded me of my video, Prescription Strength Abstinence - check it out on my channel.

  • @ma049

  • @initvesa This seems to miss a rather important point. If you steroids testing policy is I'll thought out you waste a bit of money, if your sex education policy doesn't work you have the 3rd highest rates of teen pregnancy in the USA. Why can't the abstinence program be replaced? BTW in regard to motive I would say abstinence progra have more to do with orthodox religious taboos about sex than they do with genuine public health administration.

  • Created over 1 million new jobs? Well that is the hype, in reality he has been lucky enough to ride the Texas oil boom.

  • Just think he could have been the commander-in-chief.

  • This is pretty stupid of the governor "do you have a statistic abstinence works?" here's a statistic no girls ever gotten pregnant without having sex. A better question is "is abstinence realistic?" probably not but I agree that should be the goal after all there is no such thing as safe sex only safer sex

  • His mother should have stayed abstinent.

  • I am laughing my ass off from my bed while watching this idiot makes a fool of himself.

  • Comment removed

  • Rick Perry has created Over 1 million new jobs in just Texas alone. This man knows what he is doing. The #1 issue facing America: create jobs.

  • Sorry, but I doubt a college football fan which a 2.2 GPA was studying and politicized all the time and not fucking in parties.....

  • -abstinence works i personally know

  • Rick perry have a thick tongue,Moses in Bible had a thick tongue too, don't effect the leadership, Rick perry bring restore in Texas even in the time of economical disaster in America, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul etc in the GOP doesn't have any thing to specify that they accomplished in the past years while live in this country. Choosing them is like a experiment, hope that they might do some miracle to restore America,Why not Rick perry? He proved that He can restore what ever He touch.

  • No Rick Perry, I wont call you old fashion. I will, however, call you stupid.

  • 1:47

    nuff said

  • Seriously: is this a comedy or is this real?? It seems like a comedy/sitcom series with the people laughing in the background and Rick Perry giving incredibly ridiculous anwers!?!

  • An average catholic republican in a nutshell: "Think of the children. Teach them abstincence and convert them to christianity. Sex is a horrible and lustful sin that goes against my religion! Think of the children!"

  • this is the guy that wants to be president? LMAO!

  • If you tell a teenager not to have sex, they will still have sex. It is best to advise they not have sex and teach them how to protect themselves from pregnancy and STD/Is. The sex is inevitable. Is this not extremely basic logic???

  • oh really? the way abstinence is being applied out there is why you have the 3rd highest teen pregnancy rate? yathink?

  • what he wanted to say was "it gets in-line with my religion". What a piece of shit.

  • Test drive the car before you buy!! just saying.

  • @KTdarin I'm not saying an entire sex ed curriculum should be say "Just don't have sex because sex causes sti's pregnancy..." so the idea of safER sex should be known because there is no way with today's culture and media that teens (of which I am one) are going to stay abstinent. Too many think "Aww it won't happen to me." So deffinitly, they should know about and know to us a condom or other form but also know that abstinence is THE ONLY %100 sure form of birth control and STI protection.(1/2)

  • People. He answered the question differently then everyone expected so they unserstood it the wrong way. At the very end he made a god point.

  • jesus christ he sounds so dumb, guess that is what texans prefer

  • @initvesa, I get what you're saying. Really any program that yields higher than expected results is considered money well spent. However, based on the percentages, it would seem Texas is NOT exceeding or even reaching it's goals, therefore the money is NOT being well spent. Additionally, there should be an equal amount of money being spent to educate kids about safe sex.

  • @DesertKitsune Note how I only said it's "logically valid" not that it's sound. However, what you are saying may be true but in the state of Texas it would almost be political suicide to teach "safe sex" over "abstinence." Here is something I do not completely understand: why must money be spent of "safe sex education"? Doesn't it only take 5 minutes of explaining from a parent for proper safe sex education or are parents too deluded to be able to do so?

  • Rick Perry is a complete moron.

  • @initvesa

Except that's wrong. Sexual education programs that teach about contraceptives like condoms, birth control, etc. and cover other topics like STD/STI prevention, same-sex relationships, healthy relationships etc. like they have in California are way more effective than what Texas has. In 2010, 35 babies were born for every 1,000 female teenager in California. In Texas, 101 babies were born for every 1, 000. The numbers speak for themselves:

  • @ElDeclan Are you saying it's wrong because it's ineffective? Of course, the "abstinence education" does teach about relationships even though it probably should not if they were truly being conservative. 101 vs 35: Only a 2x difference on the same order of magnitude is still not that significant if you think about it., almost similar to 5 vs 10.

  • @initvesa

Yes, it is wrong because it is ineffective. To pretend that it IS effective does an injustice to the tax payers, to the students and to the teachers. Abstinence-only education DOES NOT WORK. There is no scientific proof that it does. I really don't see the relevance of your comment. Even if we went by population, California has about 36 mil people; Texas has 24 mil so your arguments about money return are dumb. Also, 101/35 =/= 2, it's closer to 3.

  • @ElDeclan If abstinence education produces say a 5% difference then it could be argued to be statistically significant so "money is not entirely wasted." I am not arguing with you over how things should be but what governments might think. Is preventing teen pregnancy the most dire thing wanted by Texans? Probably not. Are other programs MORE ineffective? Most likely. You may be correct that it's money wasted but by your logic ALL those other programs should be cut as well.

  • @initvesa

A 5% difference compared to what? No sexual education at all? Yes, abstinence only education, which is what Perry advocates, and what we're arguing over here, is probably better than no sexual education, but that is not the point. The point is that abstinence only education is vastly inferior to all other sexual education programs. Finally, your last point is just... out of the blue. By my logic, all other programs should be scrapped? Why? I think you missed the point, my friend.

  • @ElDeclan So what if it's inferior to other sexual education types? I am saying in conservative Texas all other types of sexual education are politically and morally indefensible positions so that will never be accepted by the populace. Any type of sexual education in school is a big infringement of parental rights to begin with in the minds of most people there so yes, to most conservatives abstinence education probably should be abolished but not for your reasons.

  • @initvesa On my last point: most school programs are huge wastes of money. That "check for steroid" example is a good one: all those money spent and 20 cases found. If abstinence education should be abolished because of ineffectiveness then the steroid program should be ahead in line to get cut first. Hence "by your logic" many programs should be cut. Should the abstinence program be replaced? Not gonna happen? Can it abolished? Maybe, but the core motive probably is not effectiveness.

  • @initvesa I am sorry, but you are wrong. Countries which begin safe sex ed earlier and more casually have the lowest teen pregnancy rates, while countries who start later and don't necessarily teach safe sex have higher rates. Do a google search for "teen pregnancy rate vs education site:.edu" on google. On your other point... this is about rates and percentages rather than solid numbers. They are proportions, and if you dont understand, try finishing high school.

  • @reuntes No need to be condescending. I was *asking* whether if they were proportions or not. Again, you are making a strawman argument. I am not saying it's more effective than "safe sex" education, only that the man is being logically correct when he says it's "money well spent" as the numbers beat the average expected return for any educational program.

  • @initvesa It is a fact that it doesnt work. he was presented with facts and chose to just ignore them, citing "personal experience". FYI, personal experience on a wide reaching issue simply isnt valid.

  • @TorMatthews It probably doesn't work, but try telling that to the Republican Base. He will probably be out of office in a jiffy if he allowed non-abstinence based sex education in school.

  • @loldowl Can't tell if trolling or just really stupid

  • reminds me of the 'Miss California' video

  • Americans claim to know a lot a about capitalism. But even i as a communist know that the market should respond to a demand. Give them Condomes!

  • @hectorsalinasisback "Imperialist Wars..." WOW, just wow! American denouncing real war reasons, wow. I hope for the sake of my 3 Billion plus fellow human beings that earn less than $2 a day and the 1 Billion permanently undernourished, that you and your fellow country people vote for Ron Paul and let rid of your worker extorting 36 million human starved a year capitalist world order. YANKEEs GO HOME!☭

  • Deviant behavior can't be justified by deviant behavior.

  • Just look at any conversion with homosexuals, they will use Saul linsky type tactics to try and shut you up.

They will call you names, hurl insults and try to depict you as a bigot,

a gay basher, homophobe, they will state false statistics, try to discredit facts, counter accuse, pile on in numbers, lie about data and

  • if you are confronting them in person they will try and shout you down, if you are weaker than they are like the 88 yr. old woman from California they will try and physically knock you down.

They will try and justify deviate behavior with deviate behavior..

  • "It's the best form to teach our children... even if we have the third highest teen pregnancy rate in the country... it... works."

President of La La Land wants to be president of the United States. No thankyou.

  • "We have the third highest rate of Teen Pregnancy in the country..."

    "...abstinence...works..."

I literally facepalmed when I heard his reply.

  • 8 years of stupidity is enough, Americans...we don't need another one!!

  • What a load of bullshit! Basically he's saying that if abstinence education is reaching 'some' young people then it's worth it. Hello village idiot, remember the first amendment? Separation of church and state! Religion has no place in public education! If you want to teach abstinence to your children, then send them to a private religious institution! Abstinence is not education, it is the absence of education. Third highest teen pregnancy rate in the country! And this ass believes that those

  • if if if... how about DROP OUT. STOP RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

  • Well first of all they have the right to learn about protection second even people who do chose to wait till marriage still need to learn about birth control methods so marryed couples can enjoy each others bodys and still plan when to start a family.

  • Eat da po po

  • FECAL SEX About 80% of gays admit to licking and/or inserting their tongues into the anus of partners and thus ingesting medically significant amounts of feces. Those who eat or wallow in it are probably at even greater risk. In the diary study,5 70% of the gays had engaged in this activity--half regularly over 6 months. Result? --the "annual incidence of hepatitis A in...homosexual men was 22 percent, whereas no heterosexual men acquired hepatitis A."

  • @united101usa Lesbians also have the lowest rate of STDs out of all groups of people, significantly lower then heterosexual women.

So... by your logic... all women should dump their husbands for eachother? Okay.

(Also do you really think heterosexual couples don't stick their tongues in eachother's orifices? Naiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive wishful thinking at its finest, just like the deluded moron in this video.)

  • Abstinence is not the answer, free condoms are!

  • @HelloImHenriette Brilliant!!!

  • Wtf is he talking about??

  • I can attest to the fact that most young people who are abstinent, like me, aren't because they want to be... there is nothing wrong with sex. Kids will have it. And an interesting little fact is that the countries who EDUCATE their kids have low rates of teen pregnancy. Good luck convincing kids Rick. You'll need it.

  • Bush²

  • It's really just saddening to watch this full-grown, supposedly well-educated man who is running to be our nation's top leader, struggling not only to answer the question, but to even understand what question is being asked.

Sure, he gets on a roll when it comes to standing up for his "old-fashioned" values, because of his desperate appeal to an older, more conservative demographic, but if I was to even begin to respect this man, let alone CONSIDER voting for him, I would need to see him recei

  • Masturbation is the safest sex there is

  • @PinkNymphetamine22 and most boring

  • if you just taught safe sex it would lower the amount of teens getting pregnant .. and most tennis don't wanna give out (well most girls but some guys pressure) so honestly .. I think abstinence is kinda a waste of time .. or come-pleat bs ( in my opinion it is ..)

  • "In my personal experience" the rest of his argument means nothing.

  • OMG. THIS GUY is running for PRESIDENT???

  • "Has sex or whatever goes on". Really? You don't know what goes on during sex? :| I think he needs to THINK before he talks, but that's too much to ask for. I'm definitely NOT voting for this tool.

  • so statistical numbers, scientifically gathered do not impress this man.... why am i not surprised at his answer? "well, it does work" happily, playfully driving towards the end of a cliff but the only thing he's lookin at is himself in his rear-view mirror

  • Rick, abstinence only doesn't work. You know why?

You're a player on any football team in Texas or Oklahoma. The hottest cheerleader is your girlfriend. She wants it. She wants it BAD.

Abstinence only is... when you look at her, and force yourself to say no. You can say no, can't you? Can't you? What kind of a Christian are you?

But it's okay, she'll be doing a lot of praying in bed...

  • Comment removed

  • He makes me ashamed to be a Texan...

  • Stuff like this gives all texans a bad name! let me just tell yall that everyone from Texas is not like this!

  • How can people watch stuff like this and want to vote for this guy?

  • @SpectatorCrow Because he is a man who is promoting what are considered Christian values. It doesn't matter if his policies are just based on his religious logic (batshit crazyness) people will vote for him.

  • Wait.... WHAT?

  • 2012's version of Dan Quayle.

  • Wow. When I listen to this video without watching, he sounds EXACTLY like George Dubya Bush. His thought porcess, if you want to call it that, is the same as well. DOES HE EVEN KNOW WHAT ABSTINENCE IS? Probably not, since he's from Texas.

  • What a Facking Mooron. This guy makes George W Bush look like a genius!

  • Proof we are lead by the least among us.

  • This guy is dumb as toast. Is that a prerequisite for being a Republican governor of Texas?

  • Oh sweet baby Christ-fucking Michael Jackson, this man is irredeemably stupid...

  • Rick Perry is the dumber version of George W Bush.

This is what you get when you place a higher value on religious faith than actual evidence.

  • Anal kids, that's the answer.

  • Oh god, he fails so badly.

  • How do these imbeciles come to power. It is extraordinary.

  • @RichieJohnSauls Two words --- Texas.

  • @RichieJohnSauls Texans, Texans vote these things into office.

  • I stopped the video half-way, too painful to watch.

  • The type of sex Rick Perry likes doesn't create babies. Problem solved! Glory to God!

  • They should be teaching sex-ed in that shit-hole of a state called "Texas" because I never got sex education there. Another good reason why Texas sucks.

  • he said abstinence works 3 times. Repetition != truth you texan redneck.

  • Someone on the Non-Prophets brought up this interview and said it was pathetic, but I didn't think it was nearly this bad.

  • Tea Partiers for Ron Paul. Think People.

  • I'm not even kidding when I ask: Is this a joke?

  • Intellect is not a prerequisite requirement for most republican voters. They would rather have a president that they would feel comfortable with at a back yard barbecue eatin chicken and drinkin beer. Obama is considered an educated(uppity) nigger. The GOP and stupidity go together like, well, chicken and beer. Rick Perry is dumber than George W and thats pretty dumb

  • this guy has that same stupid nervous laugh as W!!

  • That guy wit hthe glasses is a cunt

  • @MissDeeCole What an intelligent critique of this video. Please give us more of your amazing insight.

  • If you are pro-life the smartest thing is to also be pro-contraception. You will have to choose what you think is most important abstinence or life

  • And he is vieing for the republican presidential nomination. Oh boy!

  • Texans voted him to hold the highest position in their state? Only in that state could Bush or Perry make it to elected position's, and even that is debatable in the case if the former.

  • He's right that abstinence works. But that wasn't the question. The question was: Does abstinence EDUCATION work?

  • I'm entire apolitical. I'm entirely apathetic to the 2012 Presidential Race. But this man is a fool...I am baffled that he even has supporters. If you actually want this man to be president, than I truly do believe that you, too, are a fool. He's a poison lizard, an invertebrate that slithered up from the deepest, rankest bowels of Hell.

  • Jesus H Christ......I thought our politicians were numb-nuts, but this boke takes the chocolate hob-nob!!

  • If only his parents had followed abstinence

  • that was so dumb

  • Has anyone ever heard of the phrase "Two wrongs don't make a right?" Remember, this is the same guy who doesn't want to look at the statistics on climate change. I can't believe this pea brain keeps getting re-elected. Could someone please pull the plug, I want to get off!

  • What an idiot.

  • the interviewer should run for president.

  • At least the decline of America is being documented all the way.... So sad, it started off with such grand ideals. Meanwhile in China....

  • wat

  • dang... is the moderator available for the presidency?

  • Well, what I think the interviewer is talking about here is the return on taxpayer investment in the abstinence project. And it clearly, as the presenter put it, hasn't worked.

  • Clearly this man abstains from intelligent thought.

  • my brain just rotted out of my head.

  • Love your principles Mr. Perry ! Perry 2012

  • Save a Pretzel for the gas jets!

  • Oh, I don't call Perry old-fashioned; I call him stupid (and obviously drunk too often).

  • Gary Johnson is the best presidential candidate for the american people. He has the most logical and ethical economic solutions for this nation as a whole. I ask that you at least research him, and if you do not, if I did know you, I'd have to ask, why are you voting when you do not have all the facts? Why vote only for your own sake instead of for the sake of our nation . Take some time and read, and see what else is out there? besides what the media tells you

  • His answer is pathetic. Just know that this clown will NEVER win the presidency. In a fair and level race, there are MANY more people than are more qualified and not nearly so extreme and narrow-minded.

  • Abstinence is way forward...casual sex just degrades society and bring it down

it may not work so it should be done better

  • @harj2009 Oh come ON! I'm not advocating casual sex. I insisted my kids wait until they had turned 18 (both my son and my daughter). Both waited until then. In this world, one does not need to be married to have sex- and sex is a lousy reason for marriage. Both of my kids have had one partner, apiece; both were in or are in very long-term relationships and I was all-for whatever preventative education they could get, both at home AND in school.

    Anything else is ignorant!

  • @gcatledge But note this, too; RP can be taken as Rick the Prick Perry-- so make sure that you advise people just whom they should be considering for POTUS// Perry would be the worst possible choice, followed by Cain and Romney (not necessarily in that order)!

Ron Paul- 2012, before we completely lose OUR country!

  • Bush is better than this fuck up Perry.

  • flash backs to bush junior.

  • See "Rick Perry Christian Rick the Perryman"

  • @haldonrichardson1 Do people really believe Perry was a virgin when he married? Do they believe that plastic drunkard has had only ONE partner in his life? If so, people are more stupid than I thought.

See, Drunken Perry, NH".., though I think he was half-loaded in this video, too. The other's more obvious.

  • I despise you band-wagoners. I don't much care for him myself, but at least I know why. You nitwits just say "fuck Rick Perry, he's gay, he's a moron".. and you don't even know why. You just feel it's your duty to be a militant liberal cause that's what's cool with kids 15-25. Get a fucking clue. That question was loaded and he didn't want to answer it, the idiot host, and I'll assume you queers, wanted him to say abstinence does not work. The real problem is idiot teens thinking they're adults

  • @OriginalTurgeis I agree... not that I am for Perry either... but I think people like to look "cool" and try to push the person down that everyone else is pushing down. People need to think for themselves... and MOST of the time voters don't even do the research on these problems to begin with...

  • @ashleyleap If the guy cannot answer the question, he needs to be prodded until he does answer it. He had to have been briefed, but Perry is really STUPID. He got the governorship by baby-Bush passing it on to him. If you want another Bush (Bush III), vote Perry -I realize you don't want another Bush, but, he does need to answer the "tough questions"! We have a school in Austin for preg girls. That's how bad the teen-pregnancy rate is HERE. And many drop out anyway. Perry's AWFUL!

  • @OriginalTurgeis Lololololol "band wagoners" "militant liberals" do you realise how utterly idiotic you sound? How is what the interviewer asking a "loaded question"? He's asking a simple question, and the guy flails desperately trying to avoid answering it and can't defend it. This man is a complete idiot, and no sane republican would want someone this stupid representing them. Its between people like you and the person in this video that negative stereotypes about Republicans are born.

  • the GOP desparately needs to give their people...all their people, lessons in doing interviews. How can they be so poor at answering a question with a straight answer.

  • "I'm trying to make a comparable here"...

  • george bush all over....

  • This guy was a farmer in his early years.

  • Rick Perry wants tax cuts for the rich, deregulation of corporations, he hangs around with hate-spewing right wing religious wackos, he's a Birther, AND he executed an innocent guy. I'd say he's the perfect tea party candidate.

  • Surely he is gay?
