  • They should play Nino Rota music in malls and super markets instead of that lifeless muzack stuff. Very cool and dreamy stuff that makes me feel weird in a good and nice way..He was among the few who knew how to make music for movies that were actually character unto themselves and not merely muscial manipulation to make up for bad filmmmaking.

  • It is the main theme, but a slower version than the title theme. Rota is one of my favorites of all time.

  • Sei Grande Cazzo

  • Such an eerie theme! I love it so much, it really captures the essence of Juliet's periods of calm and insanity, plus it's just fun to listen to. Rota's songs bring me right back into the fantasy world Fellini illustrates for me.

  • Great film and wonderful music !!

  • Beautiful music !!

  • Gorgeous piece of music - thanks for uploading!

  • I love the music Nino Rota did with Fellini. It stands on it's own and sends me into a wonderfully strange dream state. The first time I saw Juliet of the Spirits the music just jumped out at me. I am glad now to have it on my Ipod to listen to whenever I want to get weird.

  • Are you sure this is the music to JULIET OF THE SPIRITS? It sounds like LA DOLCE VITA to me.

  • @goback3spaces You obviously haven't seen the movie then

  • @ManfredDeJesus Yeah, yeah, yeah, I saw both of them, only not yesterday. I got 'em mixed up. So sue me.

  • @goback3spaces It is Juliet of the Spirits alright. The start is just not used a lot in the picture.

  • Amazing tune!! Rotta was a genius.

  • Just love those brilliant Fellini masterpieces and the fabulous Nino Rota music to accompany those great scenes and actors!!!!

  • The vast Italy that is gone, dissolved in the vulgarity of television.

  • @ArcanaIntellego : Exactly the message Fellini had in "Ginger and Fred".....vulgarity triumphant. It's interesting that Fellini took Astaire and Rogers as a standard of excellence in quality entertainment....for with this iconic pair, between 1933 and 1939, popular art and and high art were one and the same. I agree that, not just in Italy, but internationally, quality has been discarded...for the popular lowest common denominator.

There are always exceptions of course.

  • Whatever happened to the old good Italian cinema? How we used to enjoy it!

  • La grande Italia che non c'è più, dissolta nella volgarità delle televisioni.

  • Merveilleux...

  • Viva Rota! Viva Fellini! Viva time when movies were movies, not nowadays trash.

  • Rota's music is so distinct. Organ, piano, clarinet, guitar--strolling and then strutting. I swear, I heard the leitmotiv of this movie from my dripping faucet. The music does indeed conjure "up the whole Italian experience of the 1950s and early 1960s." Rota and Fellini, love their radiance. Tragedy and then catharsis. Makes me smile.

  • Fellini and Rota, the perfect combination. Rota's music is incredibly nostalgic and conjures up the whole Italian experience of the 1950s and early 1960s. Pre the blandness of European Union ( who needs it ? )and the ironing out of those wonderful differences that made for great films from those individual countries.

Yes, we did live through those times and the Euronuts can't take that away from us even if they have turned us all into Euromash.

  • I have this on DVD and I just have to see it at least once a month! The movie is purely magical - thanks to Fellini.

  • One of my all time favorite films, but there is so much frenzied dialogue, I long for a dubbed version rather than subtitles. Of course, what better reason to become utterly fluent in Italian? Ciao, bella!

  • I have seen a dubbed version when it was originally released. I have no idea if it's on DVD,

  • I needed a Nino Rota fix and you gave it!Haven't heard the LP's in so long.....Great video!

  • For many years my favorite movie. Watched it so many times.

  • this movie is like being in a dream . i love so much.

  • This movie and the music from it will always be an important part of my youth. Thanks Fellini and Rota!

  • Bette Midler Walked down the aisle to this

  • This is michelle from skriptid. Nino rota was my great great uncle. that the coolest thing! my great grandmother, who I call nana, adopted nina whos real father was nino. His music is amazing!

  • lucky you!

  • "" Dopo aver visto questa pellicola, è difficile, tornare, alla vita di tutti i giorni ""_

  • Thank you, Manfredo, for posting this beautiful video with photos and posters of the film in different languages. I've been looking for Nino Rota's music for a long time and finally found it here, so thanks again. Your effort is very much appreciated.

  • I love the movie.. one of my favz!! i'm 16 and since i was 13 i really wanted 2 get it!! the music is a m a z i n g... the theme is beautiful! i remembered ken griffin's themes <3

  • Nino Rota is effing amazing!

    He did THE GODFATHER beautifully!!!!!!!!!

  • Excuse me I meant to say : I've never had a discussion with anyone who sees the film for what it really is..example: the Party at SUZY'S "I am the east wind" a comment/dialog anyone?

  • all time favorite each scene was just a variation of the whole basic motif , played with all that great sounding 60's instrumentation I would gladly return to that era ... a middle aged person drowning in nostalgia for that music. wristwatches , camera's , cars you could fix yourself ...the movie is so deep I've NEVER met anyone one who sees it for what is really is anyone want to have a dialog/dicussion about this film

  • Nino Rota's work on his film is unparalleled genius.

  • ManfredDeJesus thanks for posting this-you got this suite comprising certain elements and version of the main theme from "Tutti Fellini". That's where I recognize it. You should check it out the full original soundtrack available on cd-it's better if you haven't already though.

  • Thanks for the recommendation, I've only been able to track down one Nino Rota CD where I live, so I probably should look at buying some more online

  • Thank you ManfredDeJesus!

I saw Giulietta degli Spiriti on 1998. What a nostalgy to look back on the photograms!

Fellini was unique on creating his fantastic characters and on playing in the border between reality and dream. Nobody did this anymore like him, and I am afraid nobody will be anymore able to.

  • And it's much appreciated. :)

  • Not my favourite suite of JOTS themes, but thanks for sharing your emphusiasm.

  • It was the only one I really had on record, so I put it up due to the lack of Nino Rota music from Fellini's films on youtube.

  • Thanks for the beautiful Montage of stills from the movie. This is my favorite film and never tire from watching it. The music that you choose complemented the montage. I bought a cd of the original soundtrack.
