Thank you for posting this. Although, of course, the matter is debatable, I always imagined this encounter as occurring in a more sprightly manner, with Stanley less hesitant, as if it were a foregone conclusion it was actually Dr. Livingstone. What a shame this isn't available on DVD.
@samuel9822 Thanks! If you ever get around to posting the entire film, I would be most appreciative. It has the misfortune of coming out in 1939 and had plenty of competition (Gone With the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington....).
@wygtam I dont have a problem. but what about copyright issues, and I can upload only 15 min long vids, the movie is 1 hour long(by the way, the rest of the movie is more about stanley)......waiting for your reply.
@LightStijn Because in 1939 when this film was made he was considered a hero. It is only since then have the more mixed motives in his life become more known.
@BABYN8YN8 my great great great great uncle was one of those who contributed funding to livingstone as well as another explorer of the age george grenfell.
"Anxiety, sickness, suffering, or danger now and then with a foregoing of the common conveniences and charities of this life, may make us pause and cause the spirit to waver and the soul to sink; but let this only be for a moment. All these are nothing when compared with the glory which shall be revealed in and for us. I never made a sacrifice."- Dr. David Livingstone at Cambridge University, 4 December 1857
Stanley was WELSH. He didn't arrive in the US until he was 18, and had a strong welsh accent all his life (except when he tried to fake being american). He certainly didn't use an american accent in africa. This film is ridiculous on every level.

He never said it. In an episode of the 3 Stooges, Moe says to Curly, "Dr. Deadrock, I presume." Much funnier.
