The Kecksburg UFO looks a lot like the Nazi Bell. It's possible that the USA seized the Nazi Bell after WW2 and were experimenting with it near Kecksburg.
You can't see a laser beam unless it is pointed directly at you or there is sufficient dust or particles of some kind to reflect enough laser light into your eyes.
A simple experiment proves this. Take a laser pointer, hold it in front of you so the beam passes at 90 degrees to your vision. You will see two things. A red light at the front of the laser, and a spot on the wall. You will not see the beam, unless you have one dusty house.
If you want to see the beam, sprinkle some flour on it.
