So i have a GO-PRO HD cam and im just sort of confirming this. so i put it in to final cut just the normal way nothing is really HD and then i do what you say and it should become HD because i did that and it was only 240 P so i stupidly deleted the vid right away thinking it didnt work. but so if i wait like 9 hours the quality will rise oor? i guess i dont really understand it because couldn't any camera upload be put into hd then?

also, ive got all my settings in FCP as ntsc anamorphic b/c i use a dvx100b... I am editing something with a small hd camera, can i just log and transfer the clips and it will automatically change my settings, or do i have to first change capture, sequence and other settings to something?

@sGxCuRSeD I've been having the same problem. I use Final Cut Pro for effects, but put the whole video together in iMovie. My camera shoots 720p, but when I export the video out of Final Cut, it seems no matter what settings I choose, I get black boxes on various sides of the screen. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? This is killing me!

Technically, no it doesn't, but upscaled SD played back in HD honestly looks like shit. You can see examples of that in a few of my videos, where iMovie '09 gave me an option. Try not to, as you'll only get comments back about how everything looks great, except the actual video. So yes you can, but it's not recommended.

@DeathsArcher He left out the size. Its the 3rd button down called SIZE you need to select 1280X720 HD. Then you'll have HD video.

It will also work for SD cams as it upscales the resolution. The image wont be clearer however better for viewing on larger screens.

You have to give YouTube about an hour for it to be HD (sometimes longer, depending on how busy the server is).

When you first do it the quality will be low

Once the video is uploaded it wont be in HD straight away. You have to wait about an hour before YouTube allows it.

Yep the process should be the same for any camera. If you cannot import the video file into iMovie make sure it uses the correct format you may have to convert the video.

If it records in .mov you will be fine.
