  • this is jewel dude....

best tornado video....ive seen on youtube....

  • I wish they could get more aerial footage of tornadoes doin damage... i know thats mean 2 sayy that they ruin peoples lives that way but its jus so amazing to see the power of a tornado from above in the air!!!!!!!!!

  • That looks more like a powerful waterspout, THEY EVEN CALL IT A WATERSPOUT!

  • I wouldn't say ef-0 or ef-1. Perhaps strong ef-1?? An ef-0 wouldn't take a roof off like that let alone an ef-1.

  • @81pluto I'd guess strong EF1 or low EF2.

  • Sorry I am from Oklahoma and that was a weak tornado lol. Look up May 3rd tornado and then you will see a REAL tornado. Over 300mph winds and more than a mile wide. It literally tore up the earth for 3 feet down into the earth.

  • @getalife04

You should realize that even in Oklahoma most tornadoes are around this strength or weaker. The May 3 tornado could be described a freakishly strong.

  • @dragonridley You're not from oklahoma are you? We get strong than this in nearly every storm during the spring.

  • @getalife04

True, I'm not from Oklahoma but I've studied a lot about tornadoes. EF0 and EF1 tornadoes like this are the most common occurring ones but the generally do so little damage that they rarely make breaking news. EF2 EF3 and EF4 tornadoes also occur every year.

  • i want to see the crocodile hunter try and catch it

  • Tornadoes are not rare in Australia. They happen there every year. News people always saying things without studying the subject they make a report on.

  • Too bad so much was editied out.

Just when we get to see some intersting views, idiot editor decided to show funnel rather than ground vortex.

Would have liked to see the end.

Hope that you post RAW video, undegraded by editing.

  • 1st time ever seen in Sydney caught on tape. Great job.

  • Crikey!

  • at 0:50, u can see a little white funnel in da air, awsum

  • Hundreds of meters? I love it how channel 7 in Australia seems to exaggerate almost everything...*sigh*

  • They aren't the only one. One Channel in the U.S. said a tornado tossed car 40 ft in the air. yeah, more like 10 ft.

  • dumb ass they said the damage wwas sent hundreds of meters not the tornado u idiot

  • I never would have guessed at 0:35 when the reporter said "...giant roof, sending it hundreds of metres into the air.." he actually meant it.

  • are you blind??? there lots of debris from the roof hes not just talking about the piece of metal dumbass?? u cant say any shit cause ur a fucking retarded gumby cunt

  • INVISIBLE TORNADOES!

  • totally ripped that roof off at 0:34 :o.

  • fukin nice

  • it isnt a tornado.

Its a waterspout turning into a landspout.

Tornado's are coming from supercells and this isnt a supercell

  • actully any waterspout that hits land is a tornando!''

the waether service calls it a "weak tornado" this would be a ef-0 or a low ef-1 (guessing now) but any time a tornado comes ashore it is a tornado

  • Actually, judging from the fact that it tore off the roof I'd say it was an F2, which is considered a strong or significant tornado. I used the old Fujita Scale because this tornado occurred prior to 2007.

  • A landspout is a type of tornado that forms without a funnel cloud. A tornado is defined as a violently rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. Landspouts fit this definition. The fact that it tore off the roof would probably make an F1 or F2.

  • Lol if they think they can follow a tornado in america in a helicopter and not get sucked in, they got another thing cmin, theres actually a tornado warning in affect for us right this moment. That was not a path of destruction LOL

  • I believe the person in the car was unaware of the impending danger he could've been in as the tornado seemed to disappear and then reappear as it destroyed the roof.

  • I'd say strong F1 possibly low end F2.

  • Stupid channel 7 reporters, Tornadoes are not rare in Australia, in actual fact next to America, were the second most common place on earth to get tornadoes.

  • Wow! I would have loved to be that guy in the car as it breezed down the street next to me!

  • i wonder what that guy in the car was thinking at 0:36 - 0:42 lol

  • Good ol waterspouts.

Dont last to long once they hit land though

  • Amazing how that roof managed to remain in one piece!

  • "...before it petered out." I love that phrase.

  • the debris spins clockwise...fuckin neato

  • Indeed this is rare for that part of the world to see something that happens all to often here in the states. BTW, that little nipper of a funnel just came in for a brief visit, but brief came with some good wreckage. Nice report.

  • cool from something small to somthing that causes destruction

  • thats AWESOM it was almost like an invisible tornado there for a while!

  • We had a tornado in Ballarat on 20/12/07. unfortunatly caught us unaware and we did not film it, had no idea that it was a tornado till later on. if I had known it was coming I would have filmed it. They are spectacular and well worth seeing as long as noone gets hurt. Thanks for posting this one.

  • tornadoes can rotate BOTH directions in both hemispheres; clockwise AND counterclockwise tornadoes have been documented in same t'storm at the same time...crazy.

  • At home in aus!? That is soo cool. I love weather like this(so long as no one is hurt).

  • Yes Kapn8mm, clockwise!

  • Ture

  • It's my understanding that tornadoes in the southern hemisphere rotate clockwise (opposite of northern hemisphere.) Can anyone confirm this?

  • Yep, they certainly do rotate clockwise =)

  • Diossss que maravilla de tromba marina(waterspout),entra a tierra y se lleva tejados y cosas por los aires y lo delgada que es y la potencia de succión que tiene,me encanta ese vídeo!!!!

    Un saludo!

  • All your roofs are belong to me!! hehe thanks for posting! feel free to check out my own tornado vids sometime! =)

  • I like how the water showed the entire spout. when it developed a funnel it wasn`t that impressive but you got a real clear picture of how much wind surrounded it with the water. you never know the true size until they start hitting dirt or debris

  • i live 270km away from there

  • twiisssterrrrrrr!!!!

  • Thats a tornadic waterspout. It was just a waterspout that formed over water. Pretty amazing.

  • like a redhead with an M16. Beautiful but deadly

  • this occured on friday august 4th 2006 in Sydney australia....pretty amazing footage!

  • when was this????

  • amazing

  • A powerful waterspout.

  • Nice vid

  • AWESOME!
