Viewed in 720p. Its awesome.

Problem is with the computers. Some PC's with single core processors or its predecessors and ordinary graphics card play spoilsport with HD videos.

Best recommended computers is with dual core processors and above with good graphics card + HD enabled screen.

Also, I notice you use a 200mm.  I just bought a 90mm macro (can't afford 200mm, sadly) and I was just wondering if you've used macro lenses with a shorter focal length than 200mm and what you think of their associated "working distances"? I assume you use 200mm 'cause the working distances of shorter lenses is problematic for you?

Anyone who talked badly about the Nikon D90 video performance was being overly critical. The D90 is not a video camera, and with that said, it takes wonderful HD quality video.. I took video of the Grand Canyon, and people dancing in the streets at a local Pirate Festival. I would have never known about this potential problem because I learned a long time ago, to not move the camera too fast, the video makes people dizzy. I love the video from my D90.

nice. i just read a spec on the d90 where all movie clips are limited to 5 minutes. some of the restrictions companies are pretty ridiculous in my opinion. this greatly limits the video potential on an otherwise fairly decent camera.

Well, the D90 does "only" 720p HD video (which not full HD). In terms of similar pricing (actually cheaper) to the D90, Canon's T1i and upcoming T2i can do full HD (720p and 1080p HD video). If you go up one price level, the Nikon D300s and Canon 5D Mark II can also do full HD. So if you're into video, any of these cameras will be better.

With a non-macro lens it's unlikely you would get these types of shots, though it's certainly not impossible. I think you could possibly do a good job with the 55-200 kit lens, assuming you had decent light. There are certainly cheaper alternatives to the 200 Macro, such as Sigma's excellent 150 - I'd look there if you're on a budget.

I think that every DSLR can handle at least -10 celcius. I've used my Canon 500D in -20 celcius conditions and worked great :)

the depth of field is from the 200mm lens, the stock lens with the D90 has pretty good depth of field.

No corrections applied. As noted, the 200mm has excellent bokeh, and was stopped down between 11-22 while taking most of these shots.

Editing was basically cutting and splicing.

What Nikon needs to do is make a RAW format that is able to be shot with D-Movie. That would surely outsell the RED camera fooo-shoooo. Currently it is Photo-JPEG but there should be Photo-RAW. THAT WOULD BE KILLER. (File sizes would probably be off the charts though)

you can use the old lenses. I have a D90 and I am using lenses without AF on my camera.

In the LV mode, Autofocus WILL NOT WORK. WHile shooting a video you need to focus manually. AF is irrelevant.

5D mark II is really better ! Macro is always beautiful. Try to film a landscape or just somebody you will see the difference.

But If you wanna do only macro that's pretty good.
