  • this is like bings version of "my way"

  • try gerry monroe`s version of this song (brilliant)

  • email me and i'll make you a backing track.

    first one free lol

    macsdisco@live.com

  • Yes, look up the song and type Top of the Pops after it on YouTube. It's a bit strange seeing Bing in 1975 surrounded by rather puzzled but very well-behaved teenage girls.

  • I saw Bing singing this live on YouTube a couple of weeks ago. Great lyrics.

  • @oldkiesel bings dead thats impossible

  • I love Crosby's singing, so classic...

  • Wow. Awesome score. I had no idea Bing did any maga ballads. Absolutely tremendous. Thank you, so much, for posting. :)

  • can you help me I am looking for backing track for this great song That's what life is all about or if there is a karaoke track thank you

  • Hi, i don't have just the backing track sorry, only the song.

  • @glasgowbard ok Thanks for your reply

  • @denisbyrne1 I have tried and tried and cant find even a midifile version of this lovely song ,anywhere in the world.but if you find something i would be greatful...keep searching..

  • Bing Crosby co-wrote this song with Les Reed, Ken Barnes, and Peter Dacre in 1975. Bing Crosby co-wrote at least 15 songs during his career, contributing lyrics.

  • my dads fav too still see his big grin as he sings it I would give anything for one more minute with him.

  • I just wanted to say thanks for putting this on here, My Dad died in April 2008 and we had this at his funeral. He was a big Bing Crosby fan, and the lyrics say it all, I think.

It always makes me cry, but I still love to listen to it.

    Thanks again. x

  • your welcome x

  • @Insomniacgirl100 yes, I feel the same way about Bing, he's like my father, and when I hear his words of wisdom, the pearls of life,, I also cry, just when I think oh him, I get choked up inside, every time,, that was a man, one heck of a man! Take care!

  • This sounds late 60's/70's.

  • I think it was 1975, i'm sure there is a clip of him singing this from top of the pops but haven't seen it on youtube yet.

  • My Fathers Favorite and I heard this song when I was a young boy and it stuck with me. Thank You for posting this.

  • I've done this score

  • Hi, just in case you don't read my message...

I'm making a slideshow for my grandmother's 90th birthday, and I'm really hoping to use this song, but I can't find it ANYWHERE. So I was wondering if you could send me the file or a link to the file so that I could have it? Bing Crosby is one of her favourites and it would be awesome to have this as the ending song to the slideshow.

Sorry if I sound pushy, sending you a message and now commenting...I just really need to start working on this XD

  • my dad was one of the biggest bing fans ever, it was one of the greatest days in his life when he saw him in concert in the usher hall in edinburgh in 1977 a few months before bing died, i was only 9 but remember his excitment as if it was yesterday, great song one of my faves, thanks for posting

  • Your very welcome

  • What was the difference between Walt Disney & Bing?

  • Actually The Great Man sung this song on ' Top Of The Pops ' in 1975 and it was a Top 40 hit for him in the Pop charts ! ( well. No. 41 !!)

  • Sorry about the typo's - bit upset today.

  • Its the anniversary of my dads death today, this was one of his favourites.

It also sums my dad up completely !.

Thank you for helping my dry the tears and remember the lovely dad that I miss so much.

Thank you Bing - you're lovely voice is so missed.

Thank you Les for writting such a meaningful song.

And David thank you for making this wonderful video,it truly is What life is all about.

  • Your welcome

Thanks for the nice comment and it sounds like your dad left some great memories.

    David

  • Thank you Bing and Les for a memorable piece of music. It sums up exactly what 'Life is all about'.

  • Bing will always be a great legend.

I was truly honoured to write this song with Bing.

    Still makes me go cold.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Les Reed OBE. (Composer)

  • Thank you so much Les, not just for this song...but the many great songs you have written over the years. This has always been one of my favourite songs and the lyrics are so special and meaningfull ('man and boy I looked on high and never failed to thank him nightly') that gets me everytime.

I'm truly gratefull & honoured that you've left this comment.

    Thank you,

    David (glasgowbard)
