@Raptor, it's been about 2 years since you've purchased the ScanGaugeII. How's it holding up? Still working? Any new functions that you would suggest? Would you still recommend someone like me to purchase? thx bro
What about the O2 sensors? My CEL keeps coming on and it has to do with the O2 sensor. I think it's the crappy ethanol fuel but does this monitor the O2 sensor?
this can check the CEL codes that the O2 sensors are throwing. but theres no way of "monitoring" a simple "on/off" (on meaning a problem and subsequent CEL, off means normal) so in a way yes, but not directly
Actually, formulas using MAF data are very accurate. Since an engine will be running at an air to fuel ratio of 14.7 to 1 it's very simply to calculate how much fuel is being pumped into the engine based on how much air is let in. Using MAP data is a bit different and involves a lot more sensor readings.
The problem with devices that display instantaneous MPG is, well...it's instantaneous. Your MPG is going to fluctuate constantly. It's the average you are after.
Problem with scangauge is that it does not know the exact amount of fuel that's being injected by the injectors. That is because that information is not available from the OBDII computer diagnostic port which it plugs in to. It has to make due with MAP/MAF data, combined with speed and some other minor corrections.
It's not very accurate at all, and not worth it to track fuel consumption. It's a nice gadget, but not if you want to know the actual real time mpg rating.

I'm just bringing out the truth. I irritates me to no end to see how scangauge's marketing engine works. It just doesn't work very accurately, and people need to know that.
if its connected to your ob2 port why the fuck do you have to put in all that info?!?! shouldnt it be smart enough to learn that itself

@sonyfxi it was actually stolen not too long ago. worked 100% fine up to the last second it was in my car. :(
I would HIGHLY suggest you getting this. For $150 (probably cheaper now) I was thinking about buying another.

I think the best thing is been able to delete erros and turn off the check engine light

That doesn't fix the problem that is making it turn on in the first place.
