The brilliant, one and only Sir Patrick Moore. A great friend and total celebrity who first hit our screens in April 1957. He's in good form here and I know from personal knowledge that he always game for a laugh doing wonderful things like Morecambe and Wise, Two Ronnies (though Ronnie Barker played Patrick on that occasion), The Goodies, etc. I believe this clip is from Big Breakfast in the early 90s?
They don't make 'em like this anymore - such a shame - used to love this when getting ready for school - but even if I was an adult , I still would find it funny - great times - great upload - you got any more ?
Shame such a clever man as Patrick should have to perform with that silly muppet.....with the orange hair and glasses. He does well though, despite his age. This is part of the logical progression from his appearing on The Goodies in the 1970s to being on Doctor Who in 2010
He looks so old here but God it's nothing to how he is now...Look how active he is in the video...It must be almost 20 years ago...I love watching The Sky at Night but he'll be missed greatly when he passes....
I dont believe in god, but if there is one, I hope hes Patrick Moore! ;o)

@dfarmbrough Maybe really clever men don't become snobs and understand the need for comic relief

@StuntManPliskin I think that's right. He has never taken himself too seriously.

@GroovyRainbowLuddite I had forgotten that...did we really call things "celebrity ~" in the 1970s?
