You cant make a living with pro or tournament gaming, a real job is always going to pay more and provide more stability then the scraps gamers get.

I don't think you understand the idea of a multigaming organization. The sponsor pays for all your expenses, you play under their name, x amount of the winnings goto management. Why would a sponsor be in the industry if they weren't making a profit around you playing for them, just doesn't make sense.

Chess is fake too, but it takes immense amount of mental skills and practice to be among the best in the world. Same thing with video games, you can also add the fact that it takes very good of hand-eye coordination to be a pro gamer. And like I already said, not all games are playable professionally, not all games have the depth necessary for such a thing. That's why Counter-Strike and Starcraft are about the only games being played professionally.
