You can not take most of the Bible Literally because it was not written by God it was written by Men so it is Flawed. Stories like Noah's Ark are just that, Stories. Just like any book you read. Believing in a Higher Being is fine but to believe in some of the far fetched stories the Bible tells just makes you Gullible, if you really believe in The Story of Noah come over to my house, I have some Real Estate to Sell you.

If you leave people nothing to believe in this world would be a far worse place. However, I do not like when people say "you must believe in the bible to believe in God Himself" I know many people who think not believing in the Bible itself is blasphemy. The Bible is a Series of Stories and has nothing to do with believing in a higher Being.

We are all going to find out the real truth when we pass on anyway, so why fight about it. The thing that gets under some people's skin is the mention of the bible just being a Book of Stories, Some Fiction and some Non-Fiction. I am not sure why but some do take it Personal.

@TlMEtoLAUGH I do believe that the bible definitely can be used as a historical text, and that a lot of it is fairy tale or "gossip" that was passed along through generations of oral storytelling.

I am reading "the 12th planet" by Zecheria Sitchin right now, which combines ancient Sumerian, Mesopotamian, Babylonian, and even biblical texts to prove that humanity was actually created here by an alien race from the planet Niburi- you should check it out, the evidence is astonishing!

Neither one of those ideas are far fetched. The Bible is pretty unrealistic but if you put the bible aside and just think that a higher being created us it is not as unrealistic as some of the stories the bible tells us. However, being created by an Alien Species? I need to read that book I guess but that seems wrong.
