  • Huh. He must give a really good foot massage to get a reaction like that.

  • I'm straight... but this conversation is kinda cute... at least starts like it. xD

  • That awkward moment when you recall that at this time Renly was betrothed to Margaery Tyrell...

  • The awkward moment when you leave one armpit unshaved...

  • I was both shocked and proud to see a gay couple in this show. X3

  • WAIT WHAT LORAS IS GAY?! HOW DAFUQ DIDN'T I KNOW THIS?!

  • Dudes, I'm just going to throw a guess here, maybe I'm mistaken, but I think they are gay...

  • This caught my dad off guard. It was hilarious. He's not homophobic, he was just surprised!

  • @lisambofoh Mine too, he's read all the books and he didn't pick up the homosexuality either until now.

  • @ShadowSonic2 Come on... "The Rainbow Guard"... how can anyone miss that blatant gay flag?

  • @DearestClaudio Actually, Martin said that the Rainbow thing was unintentional. They were supposed to represent the 7 Colors of the Faith of the Seven or something like that.

  • Why did that have this scene in? Because its HBO of course! They have to put a gay character in somehwere...

  • @imagineerboi well... it's in the book actually :P i don't quite remember the exact setting, since it's been 5 years since i read the book, but in the following books it's at least been hinted at that Renly is gay. So it's completely legitimate for HBO to also include it.

  • Renly is not sly, underhanded, effeminate, petulant or mean-spirited, You can be a gay character and still be brave, loveable, honorable and kind. The only bad thing about Renly is that he enjoys spending money on luxurious shows and putting on a good show. He is meant to be the exact opposite of Stannis, who has no real sexuality at all and seems to be incapable of intimacy with anyone.

  • Women like to watch handsome men getting it on. This show is not just for men and there's lots of very rude stuff between women in it. Anybody who still feels very uncomfortable or even sick at the idea of two attractive men having a sexual encounter in this day and age must be considered to have a mental problem: see a doctor.

  • There are many oblique references to Renly and Loras perhaps bing homosexual and involved in the book. But I don't like the way that, in order to be gay, they have to be petulant and slight. Gay men are no thinner or weaker than heterosexual men and Ser Loras in particular does not have the physique of an unbeatable athlete. He is decidedly pigeon chested.

  • yeah, this wasnt in the book

  • shit scene. not in the books

  • I hate the guy they got to play as Renly. Renly is supposed to be like a young Robert, big and strong. Less stupid and arrogant maybe, but still. I don't mind this scene because It was obvious he was gay, even Stannis said so, but they didn't have to make him into such a girly gay stereotype.

  • ok, i have to ask.. how did the writers of the show come up with this scene? there is nothing like that in the books. i mean, in AFFC there are some mild suggestions, but nothing, absolutely nothing like this.. and don't come to me with the whole "rainbow guards" thing, there are pink knights who are not gay..

  • @pipari44 they're gay in canon, tho. the author said so.

  • And now we know, why Margaery stayed virgin.... ( mentioned in last Sansa scene in "Clash of Kings").

  • Renly and his rainbow guard. It makes so much sense now.

  • THE RAINBOW GUARD!

  • Loras = The Kim Kardashian of GoT xDD :) *pretty face* I has money..

  • ;p;!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *nosebleed*

  • what the hell..

  • ...I wonder whether Brienne knows...

  • @loonygoldfish Brienne was in many ways intensely ignorant of all things sex, so I doubt it, though Jaime did do his damnedest to disillusion her.

  • this is bullshit! they don't even kiss. fucking writers. they write in scenes of hetero doggy-style incest, but not even a simple guy on guy kiss? bs

  • @canadaguy666 TV has come a long way in regards to this so perhaps take it for what it's worth. Obviously, there's still a large portion of the audience that doesn't want to see that as lame as it is, these shows care about ratings above all, so if they piss off too many people, they lose viewers.

  • @chimyra No, that was classless too. My favorite was the Arys - Arianne though.

  • actually, the most long, slow and boring scene of the whole series. And not for any homophobic reason... it's just boring! Renly is boring even in the books, but he gets way more boring in the series.

I was bored, did you get it?

  • With the amount of incest in this series I'm surprised that people are actually getting bent out of shape by this scene...

  • How classless. They could only send the message across of them being gay by having a scene or Loras shaving Renly shirtless?

  • @pat5168 how is it classless? it shows how intimate they are, how renly is willing to do this to please loras, and how devoted loras is to renly. it shows how much of an influence loras has on renly, how much they trust each other and how developed and meaningful their relationship is that loras can cut and tell renly off, when he is the prince and no one is allowed to do that. it proves that renly and loras have something beyond the power fight the world revolves around.

  • @sexoenladisco Classless because the subtle hints is all that's in the series. Classless because it's like this show can't explain something without it putting straight into your face. I'm not against homosexuals, and I would say the same if this was the way they showed any relationship. It's akin to showing a flashback of someone's marriage to display that they are married. Blunt and unsophisticated while requiring no thought from the viewers. Sorry if I come off as a critical bitch.

  • @pat5168 Why should this be classless. It shows a lot in the story. And i suppose the scene where the two woman almost made a hardcore sexscene or every other men-woman combo was a classy act am I right...

    Loved this scene!

  • For everyone who's a bit confused as to how they came to watch this scene, go to any A Song of Fire and Ice forum and look up the discussion on Loras/Renly. I promise that you'll start to get if after reading the evidence and hints from the book. ;)

  • Ummmm...how the hell did I get here?

  • Yeah, I never picked up on that in the book!

  • Wait a moment...I read the book and I definitely do NOT remember this part at all! 0__0 It wasn't there!

  • @appledozeLeonTaz

But it was hinted at ;)

  • @appledozeLeonTaz Well then they did a nice job putting together some of there own scenes didn't they?!

  • @BxJerseyShorefan Do you realise how much of a dick you are for spoiling the story like that? You must do because your comment is so obviously there just to piss people off. I hope someone spoils something for you in equal measure :)

  • the worst part of this show is that it puts in your face sex scenes that are not in the book only for stupid fanservice...

  • @TakagiSnaporaz That is hardly a problem, particulary when considering how frank GRRM is in the books about sex. There are several sexual scenes in the book I can recall in that aren't in the TV series.

  • @EmperorHarold Yes but they cut several interesting sublopots (such of th Renly's research for another younger wife for the King, that has to resemble Ned Stark's dead sister) and instead they put these not really relevant sex scenes, doesn't seems wronf to you ?

  • @TakagiSnaporaz As far as I am concerned, they included everything that was necessary. I felt Renly's suggestion of Margeary Tyrell was just to bring the Tyrells in closer, which this scene shows why Renly wanted this. It also helps explain why he wanted to be King.

  • loras 100% HOMOSEXUAL

  • ooo wut episode is this? :D

  • flagged u perverts

  • Is this the only homoerotic scene of the series? Thanks

  • ...he didn't wipe his armpit! so much hotness going on and I'm disturbed by his armpit! ...just wipe it! argh!

  • so gay...

  • This scene is lush.

  • Omg this caught me so off guard when watching the show, just when I thought it was all built and designed to please straight guys with woman's tits showing every 5 minutes, this happens... I got a boner...

  • @KinTheHusky hahah me too bro, legit - renly is fucking hot

  • @KinTheHusky I was going to chastise you for being a mindless yaoi fangirl, but then you mentioned the boner. Touche. Unless it's a metaphorical boner. (Bisexual bi the way)

  • Well that's one way to get Tyrell support...

  • Interesting that they actually put this in there... I picked up on Renly being gay-ish in the prologue of the second book, where the maester is reminiscing about how he used to play dress up, but it was only until after he *spoiler alert*

Died, that I starting to pick up on the whole thing with him and Loras.

  • @ItsTheSecretAsian spoiler*

especially when Loras became a Kingsguard and Tyrion asked him why give up his claim, his chance to be married and so on. And Loras replies that when the Sun has set no candle can replace it. It was very clear that Loras meant Renly. So yeah. but on another note: I dont like the shows Loras. For someone who trained since he could hold a stick he is awfully skinny. He looks more like a milkboy than a worrior he is described at in the books.

  • Loras Tyrell: The Brokeback Mountian who rides

  • It was pretty freaking obvious to me when I read the books that Renly and Loras were gay. It was never explicitly stated, but there were numerous hints. If you didn't get it, don't feel bad, maybe you just aren't good at picking up on subtlety. But to say the screenwriters made it up for the show.... Nope. Read again.

  • I can't believe there are people who read the books and didn't get that Loras and Renley were lovers. Yes, it was subtle, but they were definitely gay, It shouldn't even be up for debate.

  • @GozerTheGozerian oh shut the fuck up first of all it was quite obvious they WERE gay & second if you don't like watching it then why the hell are you watching it on youtube or atleast looking it up,

  • @GozerTheGozerian umm no because David Bowie was not around back then & them dancing to it would just make no sense whatsoever & regardless they are GAY don;t like it dont watch it.

  • @GozerTheGozerian how did you not pick it up in the books there were numerous hints..

  • @GozerTheGozerian There is also the fact it was comfirmed by the author for those who did not get it. Also get over yourself.

  • @GozerTheGozerian Well, he did have one character named "Dickon Manwoody"...

  • @GozerTheGozerian Aw boo hoo. Someone's a homophobe.

  • I didn't ask for this :<

  • why did they make Renly and Loras gay in the show???

  • @xxxusernameherexxx They were gay in the books too. Sure, they were a bit more discreet about it, but the hints aren't that hard to figure out. Knight of FLOWERS, RAINBOW Guard, the fact that Renly and Margeary never consummated their marriage etc.

  • @ornjoos Read A Feast For Crows, Renly and Margaery definitely consummated. But Rainbow Guard does give it away a bit.

  • @s2525gee I'm sorry, but nowhere in AFFC it is mentioned that it is with Renly that she had sex !!!!!

  • they completely messed this up. yes it was obvious in the books that they were both gay but they were also badass, yet renly especially in the show is portrayed as a naive child who thinks he'll be a good king because he has morals but is so squeamish that in reality he doesn't have what it takes to do the job. that's a tragic simplification of the original character. it seems the writers have abritrarily equated gay with stereotypical camp, ruining both characters as a result.

  • @DAandFrank Not to mention they apparently pulled some trashy factory worker out of a hick town to portray Renly

  • @DAandFrank I read the books after the show but I felt the same. I watched this now after reading the books and its so OOC for both of them. Especially Loras is badly casted. A guy who trains years on years has a bit of muscle on him. And Loras was not so... feminim in the books. Its sad that the show felt the urge to overdisplay a cliche to make it clear to the audience the Characters are gay. I hope in they are more in Character in Season two

  • I hope one day he becomes king and makes his enemies pay out the ASS.

I pray he doesn't turn a BROWN EYE

No ifs, ands, or BUTTS about it.

He should really be ANAL about his approach

    .... SPHINCTER.

  • @iPriestHolmes Family Guy?

  • male on male nipple shaving = small price to pay for a beautifully executed series

  • A whole lot of shit it going to go down when he gains the throne.

  • @Medafets he dies before he gets it

  • Your vid is a favorite on Luxembourg

  • they are so cute, I love it so much <3

  • @Armlace Oh and btw IF you are wondering I am not a Christian, I dont take well to any and all monoteistic religions. This concept is too unnatural and alien to me.

  • @Chudakov77 hahhahah you're such a weirdo! go watch some incest porn or something!!

  • @scratchfg212 O_o

  • @Armlace Thats a lie right there and you know it. Even take George RR Martin books. People get attached to fictional characters and feel for them, even fall in love with them. If no one cared about them, they wouldnt read tye books. You need to be more honest with yourself or think it through before you state something which is not true.

  • @Chudakov77 jesus fucking christ, please tell me the 77 is your age and not the year of your birth.

  • @mitxelus Now now, don't be cursing at Jesus he would hate that!! :D

  • @Chudakov77 Well, no one really cares about the feelings of fictional beings anyways

  • @bootclunk Google renly. There are some webpages dedicated to finding evidence of their homosexual relationship and it is quite convincing. Even if you havent noticed it, the evidence is there.

  • @bootclunk There's a hint of it, and more in the following books to the point of it being quite obvious, maybe the producers wanted to make it known right from the beginning so they could leave out some of the more trivial parts where this is mentioned and still keep the story intact.

  • wow to think they turned the "we had prayed together that night" line into this...

  • @austinthebookworm5 Theres a lot more than just that line.

  • @metaitachi

Yes I know; I read that essay as well. It's all little hints though, with nothing like the scene we're watching right now.

PS Jon Connington is gay as well :P

  • @austinthebookworm5 Thats true, the show is a lot more in-your-face about it. Whatever, thats the directors touch. Theyre not changing the fundamental truths about it (because the hints are pretty irrefutable) and perhaps this will greater emphasize Loras' loyalty later or whatever. It detracts nothing from the show so Im okay with it.

  • @austinthebookworm5 Is he?, in what book says that? I´m curious now

  • @HelenandDamon

Well, George R.R Martin said before the launch of A Dance with Dragons that there would be a gay POV. Jon Connington is a new POV in that book, and after much forum discussion we decided that it could only be Jon, especially after his moments with Rhaegar Targaryen

  • It's very loosely hinted in the books, but tbh I kind of like it more this way. It means Renly breaks out of the gay stereotype, since he is a passionate and popular king.

  • @austinthebookworm5

    DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMNNNNN YOUUUUU ANNNNND YOOUUUUR SPPOOOOIILLLERSSS!

    XD

I apologise for my grammar though :D

  • @austinthebookworm5 your right, I never even picked up on it when reading. but when this came out it the penny dropped suddenly lol.

  • Whoa.....whooooaaaa... Was he gay in the Novel? I'm almost done with the second I don't remember him and Loras like this....

  • @XIXNayRXIX "The Knight of Flowers?" "The Rainbow Guard?" The hints are all there.

  • @WWVS78 Sorry, I'm not so judgmental to automatically think when Flowers or a Rainbow are mentioned that the person is gay. Yeah, looking back it's easy to just say that, but other than that I didn't think there were many real signs. And certainly none of what this clip shows.

  • @XIXNayRXIX to say the least it was one of the most subtle reveals I've come across in a book, but Martin seems the expert on subtlety, I would say "Is" but he's so damn subtle about it.

  • @XIXNayRXIX They were but its more subtle in the novels. You have to remember, the books are told from various POVs and the only characters who definitely knew weren't POV characters (at least not until later). So you have to read between the lines. An example is Renly saying he married one of the most beautiful maids to Stannis in book 2. And Stannis replying that in his bed she'll die a maid. Not to mention he was married to her for 2 weeks, and noone questioned that he didn't sleep with her.

  • Thank you HBO for rushing a subtle reveal.

  • @igerree But the head was offscreen, bro. That's masterful.

  • @LoveoneAn I'm not your bro, buddy!

  • @igerree I'm not your buddy, pal.

  • I'm very pleased with the show itself because it's making things clear for the people who haven't read A Song of Ice and Fire. When I read the first book and was reading the second one, I never thought that Renly was gay, although when I now thing about it, it should've been clear (the RAINBOW Guard, for crying out loud). It's good to put this scene in the show so people would know (and whole lot of other scenes that weren't in the book). Can't wait for second season!

  • Is Renly gay in the books? I'm halfway through the first one and haven't seen any mention of it

  • @Theriot6592 Yes but it's not mention till after he dies.

  • @LoveoneAn Oh, fuck you asshole

  • @Theriot6592 You asked first dipshit. Unless you were somehow talking to yourself in the comments section of this video.

  • @LoveoneAn Thanks for the spoiler, asshole. The person just said they were only halfway through the first book.

  • @Theriot6592 It's much clearer in the second book, when Renly allies with Loras's family (i.e., House Tyrell of Highgarden) and makes his own claim to the Iron Throne. It's never explicitly stated, but there are LOTS of hints.

Making it explicit, as in this scene, was a change from the books to the TV series.

  • BARATHEON WORDS: OURS IS THE FURY!

RENLY'S WORDS: OURS IS THE FAIRY! LOL

  • I have nothing against the relationship itself but this just seemed so random and thrown in like a lot of the other pointless sex scenes in this show.

  • i was very dissapointed in this scene... the scene does not appear in the books and neither should it in the series.

  • wow........squish squish squish slurp

  • I think this scene could have done without the noises after Loras crouches.

  • nice and hot scene :p

  • Didn't like the way they portrayed these characters, their relationship was only hinted at in the books, and they're such a stereotype of gay people it's disturbing this is in 2011.

Renly was a likable character, funny, kind, and arrogant naturally but still, a character, not a silly stupid stereotype.

  • The main complaint I have about the way they made Renly in the series is that they made him such a negative gay stereotype. In the books he was kind, funny, brave enough to take on the Hound in the tournament and gracious enough to laugh about getting knocked off his horse. In the TV series he's wimpy, lazy, spoiled and not someone you would trust your back our your kingdom to.

  • This video went viral on Niamey

  • stannis

  • brienne

  • If I would get to the small councill and learn that a handsome, tall and single guy is wasting more money on his wardrobe than most women in the court combined, I'd suspect something was wrong from the beggining. If I then learned he spends a lot of time with a guy with the nickname ''Knight of the Flowers'', I'd be wearing an extra chain mail underwear even, and specially, in Court.

  • @wattoucheng why? that doesnt makes sense?

  • Maybe the only scene that not match at all with the books, Loras was the squire of Renly, that's why they are close but never in the books it is written that they have a relationship !

I'm quite sure that Renly had the time to taste Margary ^^

  • @darkvlaams the only real scene that i have found in the books that could be a hint at this is when cat comes to Renlys war-camp where he is having a tourney. It mentions that he is siting with his wife and Loras...but only paying Loras attention. subtle but it could be easily read into.

  • @peachesdeity I didn't pay attention in this detail, now i can understand why is it that way in the series, but honestly I don't like the way Renly is describe in the series, we will see in season 2 the real approach.

  • @darkvlaams I agree. Renly might be a gay, bisexual at very least, but he is not wimpy like first season somewhat portrays him. I hope they change it for the second season.

  • @peachesdeity There are several other hints in the first three books, you can see them clearly if you pay attention. Also, GRRM has confirmed they had a romantic relationship.

  • Renly has the rainbow guards. that could be a sign of him being queer.

  • Oh look some characters are gay this is obviously more shocking than incest betrayal and murder.

  • @HarduntheRanger

I don't mind that the characters are gay, it's just weird to me because I don't think it's ever mentioned in the books. In fact I think Renly is supposed to be quite a lady's man.

  • @CommanderGene George RR Martin has confirmed that Renly and Loras are infact, gay.

  • @CommanderGene you made that up! it never says renly is a lady's man! a clash of kings makes it pretty obvious that he is gay! we don't find out in a game of thrones explicitly about the nature of their relationship because no POV character is constantly near them! but it does say they are together and it does also say that renly is an attention whore and loves colors and flowers and shit like that which stannis and robert hate!

  • @scratchfg212

You may be right. I can promise you I didn't make that up, my memory is just faulty since I didn't read Clash of Kings in a while. I think I just assumed Renly is a lady's man since he's described as being very handsome.

  • @CommanderGene yeah! that may be it! it is said that he looked exactly like the younger Robert, very tall and muscular... which is a very bad casting choice if you ask me! this guy looks small and not at all handsome!!

  • @CommanderGene Renly has the attention from ladies, Women fall for him in the book but he doesnt really care for them. All they get are roses in turneys and such.

When Renly gets killed Loras looses it in grieve and even kills two of the guards in his rage. And in book three tyrion asks him why he took the white cloak, Loras answer: "When the sun has set no candle can replace it."

  • @CommanderGene The Sun meant Renly. It was also an open secret in court. Jamie ones threaten loras to stick up his sword where Renlys never got.

Loras was the most affected by Renlys death. If he were straight I dont think he would give up on his claim and a family because his friend died? Thats sounds more like lovers than friends to me.

  • @HarduntheRanger, oh gosh the shock I know (JOKE). These two characters are interesting in how they stay outside the spotlight in season 1.

  • i'm very upset that loras is so pathetic. he's supposed to be Jaime 2.0.

  • so brienne loved a pussy? fucking bullshit. that girl's whole existence was a pitiful joke

  • i read the books, and i never thought these two were queer for each other. someone wanna explain where it says this in the book?

  • @thatasshole2435 don't know how far you are into the books, but yes it is defiantly implied in more than one chapter..this scene though never happened in the books.

  • This whole scene is a real sign of trust - you don't let just ANYONE shave your chest and other areas.

  • omg this is soooo hot. I've learned one thing about good television and hbo. You can have all the action you want. all the battle scenes all the betrayals but with out a sprinkle of man on man love it's just not the same. with out it's like eggs with no ketchup >w<

  • Yumm

  • Wow...I just read all the books and I had NO idea they were gay....huh lol cool

  • @BloodThirstyScott1 didn't you get clued on when jamie threatens to stick his sword up "a place even Renly never found"? lol while he was talking to Loras
