@haiti1800 The 720p just went up. I just watched it. If your still seeing the 240p then your to far from the server that has the 360p 480p and 720p files. YouTube will mirror the files very soon.

That's how I think YouTube does it. There's a company called Akamai in Cambridge Mass that does a lot of servering for big companies. I know they do Apple stuff for iTunes and I think they do YouTube also.

@haiti1800 People coming on youtube the first time see the 240p and think your videos suck. One of the big YouTubers shaytards the Dad shaycarl every once in a while will tell his fans how YouTube encodes.

People go on his page and say why does the video look so bad.

Youtube is kind of hurting them selfs with the 240p.

I'm ok with a 240p but encode that one last.

@haiti1800 360p is not bad its really 240p that sucks.  Sometimes I watch videos in 360p because even 480p will not stream.

See what happens is once a video goes on line YouTube makes copies I think on different servers and the bigger files take longer to copy.

I live in Boston so Youtube might have servers in New York with videos and when someone wants to watch a video they stream from New York but if your in Texas they might stream that video from California.

@haiti1800 When you start your upload that's when YouTube counts the time it's been up. They really should fix that.

I really wish YouTube would not show the 240p first and wait for 360p. 240p is used for PS3 browser and Wii and other devices that have weak web browsers.

@haiti1800 Boston is kind of a weird city. At first you could never get cable only DSL but now you can. And my phone line is Verizon and I have DSL on this line.

And the one thing I do not like about Comcast is that they cap your downloads. So if you download more then 200gigs they start to charge you more after that.

I use Netflix on my PS3 and a program called PlayOn to watch TV so I can go over that 200gig limit no problem.

I might upgrade to Verizon Fios.
