@BenjaminLaird - Not really. I met Joey when he came to London last year and he was the nicest, down to Earth guy. I'm not saying that just because I'm a fan, he seemed to be genuine and funny. Y'know, normal. Not artsy, scenester-y or hip. Maybe it takes meeting them to get that, I dunno. The point stands, though: you're wrong.

I just rested my elbow on a pile of bedsheets but I forgot that I had put a nectarine that I had eaten earlier there so I freaked out when I felt something cold and wet on my elbow and now my elbow is sticky and I smelled my elbow and it doesn't even smell like nectarines.

Geez, this is surreal. I have walked down all of those streets. I have stood next to that tree. I have gone into those buildings (with the exception of their house, of course). This is one of my favourite webcomics, and I didn't know that it was all so close to me!

LOL well....there are MANY different AMERICAN accents...so it's hard to tell one way or the other with anyone near the border to the north. Basically what you mean to say is "they sound like people on American TV" - which is true. But like Roxxi says, when you're near the border, there's no real way to tell. Which makes it easy for us Americans to just say we're Canadian when we go overseas :) Thanks for being a friendly people, Canada!!!

Actually almost no one in Canada talks the way "Canadian accents" sound on television. There are regional accents--Newfoundland has a strong one, french Canada does, obviously, and BC and alberta have an almost brittish sound to their A's, but I've live all over Canada all my life and never head the Canadian accent in person.

...Except we almost all do say aboot when we're talking fast.

Well yes and no, I guess. I mean to say that in my life I have met some people with close to television levels of southern accents. I've never met a Canadian who spoke the way Canadians do on tv, even a little. Not saying they're not out there, but it has to be pretty rare in my experience.
