  • I really miss The Big Impression. His Dot Cotton was the best!

  • not pot, dot

  • hes shit

  • If anyone wants free tickets to the recording of his new television programme which is called 'You Cannot Be Serious'. It's being filmed at the BBC studio's in London on the 24th of this month. All you'd have to do is allow me to save you 25% on your household bills, does that sound agreeable? I'm basically going to save you over £500 per year AND give you tickets to see one of your favourite comedians so let me know if you're interested and I'll sort you out! :)

  • He has beautiful eyes! :-D I love voice artists.

  • He's a fuckin'genius.

  • He can only do Richard Madley.

  • Saw him walking around London today...I said hi :)

  • His Michael Owen was shit. So was his Robbie Williams.

  • Why the FUCK are people commenting about stuff that's totally irrelevant to the video, ie where people come from. Just laugh at the fucking video people.

  • Dot Cotton is fucking spot on!!!

  • That Posh and Becks Christmas Special he did a few years ago was just awful.

  • shut up randomer just coz your jelous!

  • No, he isn't.

  • well actually he is

  • Have you been through my family tree?? erm no i dont think so.

Have I ??? erm yes i am pretty sure

  • Dont listen to these folk their idiots :)

  • Hi, i know this might sound a little strange!

but i am actually related to alistair Mcgowen

i found this out a few months ago after watching Who do you think you are!!!!!!!!

I have checked my family records and it turns out his grandad was my dads granmas brother!

i think its pretty cool and would love to get into contact with him someday!

+ my dad and i really kind of look like him and we love impressioning and acting lol

  • Comment removed

  • darren farley is better

  • oh yeah cos crouch, beckham, alonso, rafa and rooney are all scousers

  • erm rooney IS a scouser, and from the others mentioned only beckham hasnt had some relationship with liverpool, hes 1 dimensional, mcgowan is far better

  • Rooney is souse mate ;)

  • McGowan is a Brummie ....

  • Your point being?

  • Dot Cotton was ace !

  • Please upload the Elvis Costello impression , it's brilliant.

  • Thats amazing

  • I'm from the same town as Robbie Williams and i sure as hell don't talk like that. Well i hope not anyhoo 0.o

  • im from stoke aswell ... just because robbie sounds like that doesnt mean we all doo ... jesus

  • True lol

  • lmao gd impressions

  • alistair mcgowan has indian ancestory, hes brilliant

  • I saw that programme - and I felt really sorry for him..... His father had never told him that he was Anglo-Indian - and he'd never even heard of it..... I am half Anglo-Indian and my father was always telling us fabulous stories.... Alistair McGowan thought he had Scottish Ancestry - and he only found out after his dad had passed away = so he couldn't even ask him why he'd kept thsat a secret...... I think it was unforgivable.. Poor guy - he doesn't even know that we're all over the place!!

  • yes probably he lost his history because of the racist english way. You either become white or your a foreigner? its not his fault though

  • Thanks for replying. Totally agree - of course it's not his fault. His father kept his heritage a secret. What a terrible thing to do to your own son.

  • remixguru3; Absolutely. I fully understand McGowans dilemma. Growing up in 60s Britain was difficult if you were anglo-indian.

Alot of us were psychologically damaged mainly because we weren't accepted inspite of being Christian and English speaking. This puts paid to the theory that if an Indian is willing to speak English & "integrate" he WILL be accepted. Light skinned a/i's did better .

  • silkysunshine: i agree with you. I'm a/indian also and it's something that was kept secret back in the early days. To be "chee-chee" was considered worse than full breed Indian. Many of the lighter skinned ones passed off as Scottish or even Maltese...anything but Indian. Hollywood actress Merle Oberon hid her own mother from view and passed her off as her "maid" just to keep her acting career. Even Cliff Richard says he's Scottish.

  • Fcuk off you tit

  • The best impressionist!!

  • He's great, but... his michael owen aint as good as that bloke in the shop doing rafa aswel etc. you know the one..

  • Me and some friends sat next to him at Pizza Express in Cheltenham. I think he came for the Book festival, we also said goodbye when he left and he waved back! Quite a nice guy.

  • Anyone got the clip of him doing Elvis Costello? It's hysterical.

  • the best of British TV...........

  • well said! Yes, it's really good stuff, well written and researched and brilliantly performed - it's a shame there isn't more like this!

  • he does a great alan hansen

  • Alistair McGowan is one of the best impersonators, my favourite is (Richard) from richard and judy

  • hes so much better than jon culshaw and bremner too

  • Strange McGowans.

  • I like his thinking about animals. It's like "Creature Comforts" in reverse.

  • The Moira Stuart thing is so true. ROFLMFAOL

  • soooooo funny haha

  • I mean the UK = just 'Britain'. I see now what the argument is about. UK = Britain but Great Britain is the island consisting of Scotland, England and Wales. So NI and Shetlands, Eilean Sear etc. are British but not 'Great British'. A little confusing.

  • @themusician31 Nope, they are part of what was the british empire, but they are not british. Their nationality is not british, trust them to come up with something messed up like this, confuse everyone. If your from england, your english. Ireland, Irish. Scotland, scottish. Wales, welsh. Can anyone tell me what your nationality is if your from "The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia"?

  • @steviohare macedonian.

  • Why is there such a long dicussion about this on this video?

The UK = Great Britain. Northern Ireland is included - the ROI is independent of the UK.

  • @themusician31 I don't know why this topic came up on this video either... but you're wrong. The UK = Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland. Great Britain includes England, Wales and Scotland but NOT Northern Ireland. ROI, as you say, is not part of either. Basically the UK and Great Britain aren't synonymous.

  • No-one has it 100% correct yet, let me enlighten ;)

Great Britain = Island comprising of England, Wales and Scotland

UK (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) = England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland + 14 tiny territories around the globe, such as the Falklands.

  • Yes rafflesia, sorry I was interrupted when I said that and got it wrong!!

  • The UK is England, Scotland and Wales. Great Britain is all of the above and Northern Ireland. The ROI doesn't feature.

  • Actually it's the other way around. Great Britain is just England, Scotland and Wales. The UK is Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

  • IM SORRY URBANARTUK!! i see you were fairly reasonable there. u took it back. i think irish people can't help getting furious over independence!! sorry

  • what really annoys me is on the internet wen u fill in a form it says "what country are you from?" and the option for us is United Kingdom.... nuhuh mate, united kingdom isnt a country

  • yeh just like the unitedstates arnt

  • He is British, so am I. Why are you people ashamed to be called British?

  • bopsybunny: No one should be ashamed to be called anything BUT i recall being told many times during my 47 yrs in London. "You MAY be a British 'subject ' BUT you'll NEVER be English!" If you're told this long enough you begin to believe it. Back then it was an insult but today it means nothing. I dare say Alistair's dad was told similar. That's why he probably thought he was protecting him. Ironic isn't it?

  • im english and i hate being called british, people say i have such a "british"accent but i dont, i am english and have an english accent and even then there are so many accents in engalnd alone not to mention the rest of britain, liverpool, london, newcastle they all sound so different i hate being labelled as just british because the other countries in britain are just that seperate countriesand ive gone on wayy too long so i dont even care any more whatever

  • what a surprise, another argument on youtube.

  • why the hell do you hate scotland and wales so much? im half scottish, half english so for me being called british is the best thing

  • russell brand sounds a lot like dot cotton =)

  • ever noticed how Dot Cotton sounds like Harold Steptoe's dad?

  • who is it who does skit of tha??

its dot cotten dressed up as harold in steptoe... might be the man here i dno. but ur spot on. well funny :D

  • i stod about 3 feet away from him on the tube once lol

  • I would never have thought he's part Indian, part Jewish maybe, but not part Indian. But now when I think about it, he does have Indian physical characteristics - I would physically compare him with a hybrid of Kishore Kumar and Akshay Kumar (?). Knowing he's a British Asian, he can now safely say "paki" (in an inoffensive manner) without getting beaten up!

  • He's funny

  • He is fab, one of the best impersonaters that i've seen and heard in ages. love it. The terry wogan was spot on!!!!

  • After seeing him on Who do You Think You Are I am now a fan. What a nice bloke and I loved his Scottish accent, even though he is not Scottish at all.

  • why do you think this?

please have the courtesy to reply.

  • If any1 knows where to find a video of his Ross Geller/David Scwimmer impression, let me know, it's amazing!

  • omg thats what im lukn for!!!hehe

seen it years ago and havent been able to find it!anywhere!!

  • I know it's bloody annoying! I've tried every search engine, and all these video sites and it's like it never happened. I saw him do it on Comic Relief a year or 2 ago and it's his greatest impression ever, NEED TO FIND IT LOL!

  • Michael Owen England and Newcastle United Footballer.

    Robbie Williams Singer

    Moria Stuart News Reader

    Terry Wogan TV host

Dot Cotton TV Chracter from Eastenders

Steve Owen another chracter from Eastenders

    Terry Wogan

  • "its not even funny"

it would be if you knew who they were...

  • that's because you've never heard of them you american twit

  • Why are we crazy? Cos we can impersonate actors and singers that are famous in our own country?? LOL

  • Well, if England is part of Britain, then technically he is British, right? I'm probably wrong because I'm fat and stoopid. I'm off to get a Big Mac and watch a John Wayne movie. USA!

  • lol yeh you sure proved how you're not stupid there chuck, idiot, to stereotype americans as stupid is close enough to a fair stereotype as iv ever heard of

  • @ChuckDizzo your north american

  • @ChuckDizzo yup, he is English AND British. Crazy stuff. I've also heard he's both European and human.

  • @ChuckDizzo USA? all european (mainly BRITISH) descendents anyway!! have a cup of tea old boy!!!! macdonalds is fuckin shite anyway and john wayne was a poof!!!!

  • @chimpyboy1971 wtf is a "poof"?? lol you crazy brits and your crazy words haha

  • @S5ate99lit3e a poof is a gay person.

  • @ChuckDizzo You FAT AMERICAN

  • nothern ireland is not part of britain..part of U.K. but not britain...people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

  • Northern Ireland is part of Britain! England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The U.K and Britain are the same thing.

  • uk and britain arent same thing... UK is all of ireland included, Great Britain is minus southern ireland.....

  • Dude, I'm from Southern Ireland and believe me I don't think Michael Collins gave his life so 100 years on stupid people on youtube could involve us in the 'U.K'.

  • mate, i'm not personally involving u in the UK, i dont make the decisions around this part of the world, sum1 was just saying that the UK and Britain wher the same thing, i was showing them southern ireland isnt part of Great Britain

  • Yeah, we're not part of the 'U.K' either! The U.K is a country that consists of Britain and Northern Ireland. Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales. The (Southern or) Republic of Ireland (Eire) is no part of the U.K or Britain.

  • you're right, i actually dont kno y i sed that b4... i've been up for 38 hours solidly now, and my mind isnt functioning properly, excuse me

  • That's obvious.

  • SOUTHERN IRELAND HAS ABSOLUTELY NO CONNECTION WITH THE UK. i dunno what the difference between britain and the uk is but DO NOT SAY WE'RE PART OF EITHER.its fucking independence. u give british people a bad name saying things like that.iv english friends but ur a knob.

  • mate, shut up, i apologised for being wrong and explained that i wasnt thinking that day

  • britain is just the main isle of land mass which is scotland wales and england, the uk is britain plus northern ireland

  • What? That makes absoutlutely no sense. That's like saying he a New Yorker but he's not American. Of course he's British. The British Empire evolved because England colonised so many countries so they just decided to put them all together and cal it Britain. Also it's unfair of you to call the Americans stupid and fat. Maybe the majority of them are stupid of fat but there's people from every country that are stupid..like you. =)

  • mate england, n ireland, scotland and wales are all seperate countries, granted n ireland is part of what makes ireland as a whole, but they're different countries, its like saying mexico, canada, america and an island off america are all one country, sure its still under "british empire" but each now has its own government and is controlled by themselves, they only have the same monarch

  • I know. I was replying to a comment that said 'I hate being called British, I am English'. That's like me saying I hate being called European, I'm Irish. Why? Why would you hate that..It's part of who you are it's the colony/continent you live in.

  • I don't like being called British but I am technically, your right saying its very similar to being called European. If somebody asks what nationality I am its Scottish though.

  • America as in the US is a republic, and Mexico isn't like Canada either.

  • First saw this guy when he was in 'all quiet on the preton front' and he has just got better and better!

  • Like Jesus

  • This guy is as close to having special powers as you can get!!
